I'm a hairstylist...which is good because i move around allll day but the bad part is there's no "normal" breaks or lunches to eat something...most of the time i eat right before i get there and i'm so busy i usually never get to eat while working, but by the time i'm off i'm crazy starving. And someone is ALWAYS running to buy food from somewhere...its tough! but i've been doing good!

I am a receptionist! It is hard to stay in shape when you sit at a desk all day long! LOL

I hear ya! I got a desk job 3 years ago and it's a big part of why I gained weight in the first place! Not to mention the fact that my boss ALWAYS has chocolate & other junk food lying around the office...
  • I am an Animal Control Officer, and I LOVE my job!
My job affords me the luxury of bringing by animals to work with me, and fostering cute little baby kittens!
I was out in the field for the first 6 years of my career, and am (somewhat temporarily) dispatching now, which leaves me at a desk answering high-stress calls day in and day out.
I get my exercise in by walking dogs on my 15 minute breaks, and we have a great hiking spot less than 10 minutes away that I go to for my lunch. Also I have one of those stationary pedalers under my desk for when it's rainy. I haven't used it yet, usually I just brave the sprinkles and think I may just walk laps around the shelter cause I would rather do that than use the stupid pedaler. I also have 1.5 wrist/ankle weights I wear. :) I look like a fool but everyone at work cheers me on. :) I also wear my heart rate monitor when I'm going to do something like move a heavy dog or chase after something, I haven't logged it but love just knowing how many calories that just burned. :)
I put a basket full of 100 calorie or healthy snacks on my inbox for everyone too, they love it!

I'm a store manager for a national retail pharmacy chain. I work any where from 10 to 12 hours a day and spend a lot of time on my feet. Dealing with peoples lives is an extremely stressful job. Most days all I want to do is come home and veg on the couch and block it all out with rocky road ice cream, but alas that is how I got in the situation I am in. So I try to go on a 30 minute walk 3-4 days a week. It's not much but every little bit helps right.

    I work quite a bit.

    1) I am a Master Control Operator for Rogers TV"s community stations for Southern Ontario. This translates into me sitting for my entire shift, managing quality control of the shows that come in, and airing breaks in the live shows. This can get very boring and monotonous very quickly. I have exhausted the internet many times.

    2) I am an Audio Visual Technician at The Perimeter Institute in Kitchener. We set up and record lectures about theoretical physics. Physically, I run up stairs all day to get to the rooms, but while recording/editing, it requires a lot of sitting around.

    3) I have my own business (well, officially on paper anyway) doing videography for various events. Mainly weddings right now, but I have experience with live music, news, and short docs/films. Sometimes this gets busy, other days it's just standing around.

I like going to the gym because it gets me up and moving - I clearly don't get enough outside of work. Now I'm just trying to integrate more of my daily activity into exercise - going for a run outside, biking to work - trying to get outside more often.

I'm a Deputy Headteacher in a Primary School. Although I'm walking around a lot I don't do ANY exercise - although coming onto this website has motivated to cycle and walk a little more.
However, like lots of other people have mentioned, my job is pretty stressful PLUS there's always cakes and biscuits in the staffroom. Total nightmare!!

I am a student paediatric nurse, i get a bit of a walk from the station to uni and then in between lecture rooms and then the walk back to the station,
when I go on placement in September I'll be on my feet for at least 13hours a day so lots of walking but very little time to eat but hopefully it will help get me prepared for when I'm on shifts in the future - cannot wait :D
cause of my all over the place schedule with uni, volunteering and work I find it hard to go to the gym but am hoping in the summer I'll be used to it and will be able to rejoin the gym :)

I am a Housewifery Specialist/Certified Nose Wiper. I actually have a fair amount of freedom with my schedule and living in CA getting outside to exercise even with small children is certainly managable. If you ask my kids what a do for living they will tell you, 'mommy exercises for a living'. LOL

Full time student (and when I say full time I really mean it haha) and I work part time at a bank. I'm on my feet part of the day, but with the option to sit when I want at work. My problems usually arise from not having enough time in the day and meal planning around a hectic schedule. When I'm not at school, I'm at work and when I'm not at work, I'm doing school work. I'm counting down the days until graduation haha.

I work as a security officer for ups in denver, co. I mainly work where the trucks come in and go out. I have to check each truck and make sure they have the right trailer hooked up as well as applying locks and cutting locks when they come in. I just started there and I'm hoping it'll help me on my weight loss journey since its not a "sit down"job ^_^
