      I agree...but I'm also a little flipped out if people are kind in person. I've never been pretty, and usually assume someone who complements my appearance wants something (a favor, a letter of recommendation written for them, something.) I'm used to assuming flattery is just that, not sincere, and a means to an end.

      You'd be surprised at how many people are put off by the whole "kitty cat" thing. Seriously, it's so hard to be taken seriously in this business. :ohwell:

      Honestly, I think it is your claws that put people off. Perhaps a mani/pedi would do the trick.

      Having read all this thread (now there's 10 minutes of my life I will never get back...) I have come to one very clear conclusion: I will most definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, stay out of the inboxes of the MFP ladies. It seems they are very sensitive about their inboxes. Maybe they want to keep them neat and tidy or sumfink...

      Annnnnnyway, in my time here I think I have complimented three, maybe four, women and they all took it in the way it was intended. It wasn't because I found them beautiful to look at like a Rodin sculpture or as graceful as Darcey Bussell. It's because I found them hot. As in smokin'. As is sexy.

      I guess as someone else said context is king. However, I will be damned if I feel ashamed for letting a lady know she is sexually attractive. Doesn't mean I am gonna chase them round the boards like a love sick puppy or shower them with attention (in fact I would need to be paid as serious amount of cash for providing them with that luxury ;)

      I would be flattered...the first time. If some guy constantly messages me or comments on my statuses that I'm "hot" or "smoking" or make inappropriate comments (this has happened), it makes me uncomfortable and I block them.

      That said, guys, if a girl mfp friend posts a new picture or reaches a goal, I don't see anything wrong with telling them that their hard work is showing. After all, most people's goals on here are to look and be healthy.
