My two littermate cats are named Twig and SweetPea. They both have many nicknames. SweetPea recently got sick. She has a cyst up in her nasal passage that we can't afford to have removed, so every couple of weeks it gets inflamed and we have to give her antibiotics or else she blows snot all over the place. So we started giving her booger nicknames. But then the vet switched up the medicine (to prevent drug resistance) and the new one gives her.... ummm... light anal leakage. So Hubs called her Puddin' Butt once and it kinda stuck!

a Boston Terrier named Skeeter (named by the kids from the cartoon Doug)
a cat named Raspberry (because she had the cutest round belly when she was a baby and I blew Raspberries on it)
a cat named Dee Dee (from the cartoon Dexter's Laboratory) and usually called Deedles

  • I currently have:

    Meeko
    Phineas
    Saskia
    Henry
    Zinnia
    Oliver
    Ichabod
    Clementine
    Ophelia

Poor Meeko got ripped off, he's much older than the others, so he was named before I developed my current taste in names.

    And have recently lost :brokenheart::

    Esmeralda
    Alethea

Not sure whether any of those qualify as weird or not.

Todd's dog from 102.1 The Edge in Toronto is named Hoff - I believe it's after David Hasslehoff (sp).

My daughter came home from Sports Camp one day with a fish in a baggie - it seems that they'd dumped a bunch of goldfish into the swimming pool and let the kids get in and catch them! I know - gross and cruel to the fish. So, she wants to keep this fish of course, so we go to Walmart and get a cheap fish bowl for the fellow. I named him "Diesun" - pronounced "die soon" because I figure with all the chlorine this little fishy had sucked down during his time in the pool that he wouldn't last very long. Darned fish lived nearly three years until my daughter got a new kitty - who got the the fish one day while we were gone. Bummer too - I'd become attached to that little guy - he'd literally come to the side of the bowl and wiggle his little tail like a dog when evern I came near! We haven't had any fish since, however.

The kitty in my avatar is one of our two calicos. The avatar kitty is Serena Lou and the other calico who is a petite long haired one is Sophia Marie.

Many pets fromthe time I was born...
    Tabby cats Isis and Osiris
then came all black cate name Anubis, black and white named Ralph (my brother called him that because he said the cat "ralphed on his shoe") and Katy Kat
Gerbils (only three of them ever got names the rest were just numbers because we couldn't separate the males and females fast enough to stop them from reproducing...) they drove teh cats nuts though because they could see them but couldn't get to them behind the glass
So the three that got names were Tawny (beige coloured) and Snowball (white) and Sunshine (golden/beige coloured)

Dogs - a Sedge coloured chesapeake bay retriever named Lieutenant Saavik (from Star Trek)
    Shepherd Collie mix named Guinness
Shepherd mix named Romeo (who understands French commands)

Red Eared slider named Houdini - (he escaped the first night we got him)
and finally our Chug named "Princess Sparkles Sparkle Princess" (named by my then 4 year old daughter)

Weirdest? hmmmm not sure if this is weird enough but we had a deformed frog we named One eyed Willie for obvious reasons:) We also had a dog named Sammy the Bull Gravano ......(of course we just called him Sammy or Sam most the time so that's kinda boring. haha) We had a Bearded dragon named Maximus after Maximus Decimus Meridius and then a Salamander named Sal<<<so unoriginal, I know and a dog named Gizmo <<also unoriginal but it suited him.

...Now we just have 1 dog and her name is Lavie. We named her after Lavie Head from an anime series called "Last Exile" ...it's one of my favorites.

Previous cat: Xerox (he looked just like his mamma cat!)

Current: Lucy (a/k/a the Lucimeier, Baby Girl Lucy, The Lucy Cat, Monkey Girl) a Himalayan, and Sake, (like the rice wine) (a/k/a Sakemania, Hammy, Chewie, Sakatailia) a rescue cat, possibly part Norwegian forest cat

My first pet was a cat named Lucy. She was mean though so I liked to call her Lucifer.

I had a hamster named Bob.

My current pet is a cat named Biscuit. We also call him Dupid (rhymes with stupid) or Disco Biscuit (no idea why).

I named my first Siamese "Mickey Mouse". Then I named a Shelty "Skeeter" which was neat until I worked with a lady whose husband was named Skeeter - he was from the deep south of course. For some reason she did not find my dog’s name amusing.

I have a 95lb pit bull mix named......Puppy. He's a rescue dog and I didn't name him. Previous owners kids did. I love him dearly!!
  • I have a Chihuahua named Princess. She had the name when I adopted her from the SPCA. I never really liked it (the name that is) so I called her Peabody, Peanut, Miss P, Lil P... anything other than Princess. One night I came home from an evening out with friends and too many drinks. I tried to call her and somehow merged Peanut and Princess and called her Penis. That name has unfortunately stuck.

An ex-boyfriend of mine had a Doberman named Baby.

What a GREAT thread...as a veterinarian I've heard a lot of pet names. I especially like to ask people whose animals have abbreviations for names what they stand for. There was LBD the litte black dog, and BA the Bad *kitten*. My first dog's name was "precious Angel of Hope" I got her when I was 13 a few months after my dad died. She was the worlds best dog and grew into a 65lb Doberman/German Shepard mix! I have Shmoo my 31 year old horse, we had "Spicey" the chicken but she got eaten by the neighbor dog! We now have a little kitten (he was maybe 5 weeks old at the time) that a good samaritan brought to our clinic one evening after one of the first really cold spells here....he had no registerable body temperature and no decerable heart rate but was still breathing. We warmed him up and got some energy into him and he reanimated......my kids fell in love with him and named him Tiny Icicle. :flowerforyou:

One of our min pins is Odie, which is short for Oderus. He was named after the lead singer of GWAR.
