While I sincerely believe that DMB is a genre all their own, the web disagrees.
ChaCha Answers, answers.com. ticketmaster.com antsmarching.org, wikipedia.com, Metroactive Music, and iTunes all list DMB as Rock.0 -

Sounds like you are missing out on a large part of rock, though... nothing from the 60's through 80's?0 -
I'm just not to big on 60's or 80's rock..i didn't even exist until 1990...but don't get me wrong i like me some ac/dc and other every now and then

correct, Team DMB actually formed a good while ago over a common interest in DMB, lap giraffes, and smart-*kitten* remarks, and has continued to flourish because we're all the coolest people on the planet and therefore have an automatic magnet-like attraction to one another.
