Hey guys! So I started today... it kicked my butt!! I was actually very surprised how bad I was! Thank goodness Jillian keeps talking in there about pushing through it and working for what we want because I got so distraught in the first 10 minutes that I wanted to cry. I never realized that I let myself get THIS bad! I used to be a personal trainer and trained other people how to exercise! Now I can't handle a 20 min workout! Hell, even a 10 min workout! And to top it off, I started a "biggest loser" -type competition at my wok and it started today. I weighed in as the heaviest girl in my office - 245 lbs. Wow.
But, I know it'll get easier. Thanks to all of you for your inspiration. Day two is coming early and I still have work to do tonight! Goodnight everyone!0 -
i just finished DAY 3... wow i'm so sore. i don't think i'm getting any better at it thou. :-( but i will keep on goin. :-)0
-
Just finished day 3! I feel like my muscles don't really get a chance to recover, I could only do half the push-ups in the beginning and had to switch from jumping rope to butt kicks because my calves hurt too much. I'm not sure if repeating these exercises on the same sore/potentially strained muscles is a good thing to do... I guess we'll see how day 4 goes!0
-
Cripes, I'm just about to do day 3 and I'm dreading it, I'm so sore from yesterday's effort, especially my quads. However I'm hell bent on doing this right and so I'm going to grit my teeth and do it! Well done to all you great people who are kicking butt0
-
Okay, Day 4 wasn't so bad (and I did it after a lengthy bike ride). So stay positive, it'll get easier!0

I totally agree! Day 4 seemed much better than the first 3 days! Not sure how or why but yesterday was super tough I didnt even want to attempt today! I got to those anterior raises and I managed to keep up today (but I wasnt able to bring the weights up to eye level).
I really had no motivation to workout today, but the friends I have made on MFP really motivated to get it done! I am so thankful for everyone here! The push I get from here really enables me to see my own self-improvement! :happy:0 -
i just finished day 4 also. it wasn't too bad. can't wait for tomorrows workout.0

I am going to try and find the dvd next time I go to the city...I really want to try this!0

Good luck with the competition. Hopefully you can win! What is the prize? I was never a personal trainer but I was a competitive athlete and I totalyl understand about how hard it is trying to get back there. I also get so mad with myself for letting me get to this point where I have to lose weight. We will get there--maybe not back to what we were but something better.
Day 4 done! I did 20 whole push ups in a row!!!! I also did 5 more in the second set. I felt like I was going to die though but yay for doing them.
I'm very excited though, since the warm weather has FINALLY arrived here I was looking for shorts that fit. Well I found a bunch in a drawer from before getting married and before baby which were always kind of tight even way back when and they all fit! Loosely!0 -
Nice work finishing up Day 4!
I was very tempted to skip Shred tonight. My husband is out of town and I took the boys out for dinner and we ran a ton of errands. Once they were in bed, I was so close to plunking myself down on the couch and vegging in front of TV. Have you guys looked at the Shred post on the Success Stories board? I spent some time looking through it this afternoon, so I popped in Shred and pushed through Day 4. Now I'm wide awake and sweaty.
I also took some "before" pics today. *shudder* I need to find my measuring tape so I can delete them!0 -

Nice! It's so gratifying to go shopping in your own room, isn't it?0 -

Thanks for the response! The prize for the competition is actually money. We will all put in money depending on where we are on the list when we weigh in each week. For example, the bottom two people will put in $2 each and the middle people will all put in $1. The "pot" won't be big, but I'd guess around $50. Who couldn't use that?
Good job on the push ups! I'm still struggling!
So, today was only day 2 for me. But I went to the gym after work and then went to my in-laws with my son and hubby. They ordered pizza. I had some. JUST JOKING!! I actually left their house before the pizza got there, went home, and exercised AGAIN! Day 2 of the Shred. It actually went a little better I think, even though I was sore. This is SO going to be worth it!
Good luck to all of you! Glad to hear day 4 seems to be the turning point for some of you! It'll be good to get there!0 -
I skipped the Shred for 2 days in a row. Not good. I really don't have a good excuse other than not feeling like doing anything but going to bed by the time I finally get the TV/DVD player to myself. I don't like the guilt I have from not working out, so I am getting back on track right now!!!!0
-
Just done with day 4 and so glad I did it - it was easier tonight and my legs are slowly becoming less sore. Still a killer workout but less painful if that makes any sense. The only thing that really gets me is the cardio in the first circuit - that second set of jumping jacks I can barely leave the ground at all!!
Day 5 tomorrow, halfway through workout 1 - woohoo!!0 -
just finished day 5. This time i did level 2. i think i did pretty good. my new work out buddy helps me to keep up with it (my buddy is my daughter tati i feel very proud of her and myself. :happy:0
-
Glad to hear I was not the only one who skipped a few days. My kids have had a stomach bug for the past couples days, which equals no sleep and no exercising for mommy. Hoping everyone starts to feel better soon! Ready to get back in to things!0

Day 5 tomorrow, halfway through workout 1 - woohoo!!
I know! I'm definitely feeling that I have a good handle on Level One.
I skipped TurboJam this morning and I was a horrible beast all afternoon. Popped in Shred and I feel much better. I'm a bit worried about this coming week. I have to report to Jury Duty on Monday and I have to be downtown when I'm usually still getting ready in the am. There is no way I'm going to get both workouts done. Grrr. Stupid civic duty.0 -
I started on wednesday! i'm so in!0

I just have to stay motivated!!!0

I started on level 2! I love it! how are you doing on level 2?0

Day 5, still alive!!
Definitely easier today, but definitely not ready to go to level 2 like some of you kick-*kitten* shredders. Today was the first day that I didn't need to "follow Anita" so I'm proud enough of that. Plus I did 2 hrs of vigorous gardening today and I'm so pleased with myself that I still did the shred even though I was knackered.
Looking forward to day 6 tomorrow :-)0 -
Great job to all of you who are kicking it up a notch and going into level 2!! monkeybu - even though you say you aren't ready for 2, it's great that you aren't "following Anita" anymore! hahaha! I think on the butt kicks I sometimes do LESS than Anita! I'm pretty sure I have much further to go than most of you as far as weight loss, so I'll be lagging a bit, but you guys are motivating me to do it everyday! (Thanks, guys! *tear*) LOL
Last night was day 3 for me. It was my first workout that I had to do with my husband in the room. It was embarrassing and I think it kept me from doing my best. I hate to know that he sees me sweaty and panting after some jump n jacks and jump rope movements. I actually saw some improvement from day one, but I think I could've pushed myself more. Looking forward to the workout tonight - I plan on giving it my all even if he is in the room again!
So, a question... Jillian says to move to level 2 when you feel ready... What happens after 10 days if I can't make it through the whole workout without taking a quick breather? Right now, I take a couple breaks, but they only last a second or so to shake out my muscles or something. If I can't make it through level one without doing that, I shouldn't go to level 2, right? Any suggestions?0 -
I would say stick with level 1 until you feel you are ready for level 2. If you do level 1 for 15 days so be it. I actually found level 2 kind of nice. Level 3 the first time was the real killer for me. So you might actualyl find level 2 a bit easier than level 1. But ya I'd say stick with level 1 until you feel you are ready.
I was bad and skipped yesterday. We were out all day and got home at about 10 pm, I hate working out that late and my back hurt so I just vegged on the couch. so today I completed day 5...woo hoo.
And jknoell- I know the feeling of doing the exercise with hubby sitting there watching. But you know what he's probably really proud of you for working on yourself. And maybe you will motivate him to get moving. Although I thought my determinatino to lose weight would help my husband but nope so such luck.0 -
Day 5 DONE!
I think if you can do most of Level 1, then you can move up to Level 2. The worst thing that can happen is that you realize you really aren't ready and you go back to Level 1 the next day. You'll never know until you try!
I bought a new measuring tape so I'm all set there. I don't plan on remeasuring myself until Day 30. That's so unlike me, but I'd really love to see some big numbers at the end of the month.
jknoell...I had to have a talk with my husband about how it weirds me out when he is around when I'm doing my exercises. The strange part is I love when we go to the gym together. For some reason I feel much less coordinated at home. Tell him to join in or get out!0 -
Thanks for the tips, guys! My husband and I have a unique situation - he lives a state away while he goes to school and comes home on the weekend to watch our son when I'm at work. AND, I have a roommate and we only have two bedrooms here, so when I'm exercising, there is no place to send the hubby! LOL! I figure I just need to make each time I work out count - no matter who is in the room. But I, too, have an easier time at the gym with my husband than when he's home just watching. Its weird!
On another note, today was day five for me... it really does get a bit easier! I still took three mini breaks today, but they only lasted a few seconds each. I'm actually thinking about doing it again tonight just for some extra calorie burn, but I don't know if I have time or not. We will see. Thanks for all the suggestions on when to move on. I think I'll try to move on after the 10 days is up and see how I feel. You are right - I'll never know unless I try!
Well, hope you all have a great night. Let's do it again tomorrow!!!0 -
I kind of weird to exeise while someone is sitting there. They aren't really watching I'm sure but if feels like you're being spied on or something.
So I did day 6 today. It is way easier. I probably could move up to level 2 but I'm going to wait until the 10 days are up this time. Last time I moved up at about this point and it just seemed like I was stalled on level 2 forever. Won't make that mistake again.0 -
I will try, just bought it today!
Post my weight and stuff tomorrow, 5:30am, here I come!0 -
Day 6 done. Yayy!!!0
