These are the phase 1 diet tips for Jamie Eason plan:
Eat first meal within an hour of waking.
Plan ahead! Designate a food preparation day.
Measure and weigh everything whenever possible. Purchase measuring cups and a kitchen scale.
Eat every three hours (usually 5 or 6 times a day, depending on when you wake up)! It's the secret to speeding up your metabolism. Be on time!
Drink lots of water! May have coffee & tea with Stevia or a no-cal sweetener.
Take a daily multivitamin. If lifting weights, you might consider taking an additional calcium supplement.
Take one tablespoon of Flaxseed or Fish Oil daily. Flaxseed and fish oil actually aid in weight loss and encourages healthy bowel movements. (Mix in oatmeal or mashed sweet potato after heating food. Do not heat flaxseed.)
Consistency is key! If you have a day where you slip up…Don't give up! Start fresh at your next meal or the next day. You can do it!

I think I can manage most of these except I still don't have a kitchen scale. The no carbs/starches after 7pm is another part of the plan. I will try to get better about taking my multivitamin, calcium and flax. I couldn't do the fish oil. Not that I tried, I just know I couldn't handle fishy burps. I don't really eat fish, only shellfish. I do drink lots of water and don't sweeten coffee or tea.
I could try to eat every three hours.
I like that Jamie is my age. Like it's possible to look like her since she's not 21:tongue: no offense to the young women who are 21-but I can't compete with you:happy:

I did Day 6 last night. I also went to ARC and got a wig I thought would be good for Amy Winehouse costume, it was a jersey shore wig, had a bump and was long and black but after I took it out of the plastic I could see that the bump was just a snarled mess of plastic hair, it looks more like a mullet! so bummed. I ended up spending more money on one online, which is just a gamble, too, but the reviews of it were pretty good, but it hasn't shipped yet so I am hoping they won't realize it's sold out. That is what happened to the one I ordered last week!

Reese - I'd like to do calorie cycling, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to handle the low cal day :blushing: Sounds like its a good plan for you!! Good luck!

Shannon (sp?) - 1. cute costume  2. congrats on your success!! Looks like you will make your goal!!! Keep up the great work!

Amy - Which Jamie Eason Plan are you doing? I know she has more than one. Sorry about the wig, that stinks!! They have an actual Amy Winehouse wig at the stores here. It looks really good! Hope the one you get works

I have been having trouble getting my weights in due to time constraints. I got in a good session Saturday, had to skip Mon cuz of my son's soccer game and only got in 20 min today of chest and tri's. I'm not happy about it, but what am I gonna do? I was gonna them tomorrow, but I picked up a class to sub, so there goes that ;-/ Looks like my next chance might be Saturday, At least I will be getting my cardio.

Amy- Hope that wig turns out for you. Online shopping is my preferred method (taking 2 kids, let alone 2 boys is never productive) but you just never know if it's going to be what you wanted. Fingers crossed!

Jen- Time constraints-I feel ya. It's awesome that you can at least take a little comfort in knowing you are still working hard with all that cardio. I'm sure you'll hit it hard Saturday.

Shander-Great job on the loss. You'll get that Halloween goal.

Yesterday was a high day, and yes I took advantage of it! Today is supposed to be a 1400ish day and a late workout day. Seems the late workouts are more my thing now since it's still pitch black when I get up running isn't an option and sleeping in sounds much better. I've hit my targets so far this week so here's to getting through the 'hump' day with the same!

Ahh! I want to log in today's weight SO BAD!! I met my goal, but my weigh in day isn't until Saturday.. Hopefully Saturday's weight will still be the same! I'm shocked at the number, especially since its TOM. So happy I could burst, but I still have to wait until Saturday... ahh!

It will be ok Saturday, keep up the good work!
I did take Tuesday off from shredding but that is the only day off I have taken. I am getting bored at Level 1 so I think I will switch it up tonight and go to level 2:smile:
The last two days eating hasn't been great, but I am gonna take Sunday and do some good shopping and preparing for next week.

    Great job SHANDER!!!!! That's awesome.

Amy- I started that plan when I was still going to the gym. I liked it. It was clear, all the 'how tos' are on the website, and I think Jen has tried some of the recipes. I did the blueberry muffins from her site, they were pretty good too.

I saw a loss when I stepped on the scale today, log days tomorrow. So I'm waiting to log it. But I like the calorie cycling. It fits with my week. Yea.

good job, Reese! I have not looked into calorie-cycling too much. I think that is in phase 3 of Jamie Eason's plan. I was thinking it will be pretty hard to follow a strict diet between Thanksgiving and Christmas but it might be good for me to help me resist all the treats. I will have to incorporate the chex mix if my in-laws make it, though, that stuff is like the reason for the season:tongue:
I did go to JM's 30DS phase 2 and it was seriously exhausting. I wasn't too impressed with my performance, I couldn't complete most of the strength reps or the cardio! I can't believe it, it's like 20 minutes!

    I'm back!!

    (I hope!)

What's going on with everyone? I think my challenge for the next two weeks needs to just be getting in 4-5 work outs and logging. I'm been traveling a lot and have been working 11 hour days and need to make time for exercise moving forward! The good thing is that since my stress levels have been through the roof my appetite has dropped off and so I haven't gained or anything in my 2-3 weeks of slacking.

    How is everyone else??

welcome back, Kate! The scale isn't moving for me, but I am happy with the mirror, so maybe JM is good for me. Or maybe it was just that mirror and the lighting at the Hyatt:tongue:

    Glad you're back Kate!!

Amy - Did you remember to take your measurements or take pictures?? I hope so!! And as long as you like what you see in the mirror, the number on the scale doesn't matter!!

Would you consider it to be calorie cycling if its a gradual up and down throughout the week? I usually am very high on saturday and sunday because of parties and living a college lifestyle, and during the week when I'm at work I'm pretty low... Would you consider that to be calorie cycling or no??

I don't know if that counts as calorie-cycling, technically, more like, informally, so you might have some of the same benefits. I am not sure though, I have not studied calorie cycling. It looks like there is some calorie cycling in the third phase of the Jamie Eason plan and it seems like you change the macros of fats and carbs, and your calories go up a little.
I did take measurements for 30DS, but I figured I would just stick with my original before pics, I still haven't felt like taking the "after pics" but I will...
This week I am trying to stay at maintenance cals and do 30DS everyday-Level 2.

You all are doing so great! Congrats Shander and reese on your loss!! And Kate for not gaining and Amy for liking what's in the mirror!!! Last week's craziness has reeked havoc on my abs/tummy! I am bloated and squishy

But, this week's schedule is better and I already did weights today and ate way better, so I'm off to a good start! I am just over 4 weeks out from my surgery, so I need to get my *kitten* in gear and stick to this!! Almost seems unfair with Halloween next weekend, my Birthday on the 11th and then the holidays!!! Grrr! I'm gonna try though!!!

Have a great week ladies, you're all rocking it!

    shander7 Posts: 613 Member
Jen - I'm sure after another day or 2 you'll be back to your fabulous self :) What surgery are you getting???? You'll get through all of those days, just keep away from the candy!!! My bf's mom brought him FOUR bags this weekend, so my lunch on Saturday was all candy... ooops!!! Needless to say I hid those bags haha.

I think this week I'm going to try to work on my weekend nutrition... Usually as soon as I get out of work on Fridays until Sundays I go craaaaazy with food... I want to try and stay in limit (although usually I go drinking, so I'll end up going over on that unless I starve myself which I definitely not doing!!) I will do my best though, especially since it's Halloween weekend.

    Hope everyone survived their Monday!!

Morning ladies. Busy weekend/Monday. Glad everyone is doing well.

Welcome back Kate...what a schedule you are balancing!

Shander- Damn those candy bags. I've avoided (so far) buying candy for Halloween at our house yet. I'm hoping DH doesn't think that we'll need it since the kids will go trick or treating!

Amy- Awesome on liking the mirror! Sometimes that's a way better indicator than the darn scale any how! Especially if it motivates to you to keep pushing forward!

Jen- It's an up down game isn't it? I'm sure you'll drink up that water, work that booty at Zumba and kill those weights this week!!!

I don't know if calorie cycling matters what days. I used an online calculator to set mine up but since I had a higher Sunday and Monday than intended I'm going with two lower days and then back on schedule this week. I can't imagine your body is that particular (but I'm def. no expert) I think it's more about keeping it guessing, balancing good/bad days, and staying within an overall deficit. But that's just a guess.

Last night was day 3 of Level 2 and it's still hard, the plank jacks and lunges kill me. I had a nice dinner of chicken stir fry but then went a little overboard with some red wine and fun size m&ms. I made the mistake of buying halloween candy. I agreed to decorate cupcakes for a bakesale and bought all kinds of things, but at least I have to give most of it away for the bake sale. Still, if there's any left I am handing it out on halloween to the kids...

Went back to P90x. Hoping to complete it this time. Got 60 days into it last time and puttered out. That was about a year ago. With the holidays coming I thought a set plan with set workouts might help keep me on track. Calorie cycling still in effect. Dinner at my parents was bad with birthdays galore while I was there. So we'll see how that effects my weigh in. Everyone get their costume settled?!

yup, I got my Amy Winehouse costume all together, I just need to find someone who can draw on a couple tattoos. I got one fake one...

Wow, can't believe we're already on part 2!!

I have my costume all set, just need to find some fishnets, I want to get the big ones :)

Amy - have you tried looking for the sheer sleeves you can wear to look like tattoos?? I forget where or when I saw them, but I did see them at some point!!

    amysj303 Posts: 5,086 Member
I did see those sleeves at the grocery store, but I am too much of a purist, I guess. I want the horeshoe that says "daddy's girl" and the pinup girl and hearts on the other side! I can't believe it jumped. This is the longest two week challenge ever;)

ok, I need a two-week challenge! I have been slacking. I think I am going to spend the next few weeks before Thanksgiving on the 30DS, I think 30DS 5 times per week. I also am going to try and get enough protein.
In allue mag they have interviews with celebrity trainers. The first one I read, Andie Hecker who trains Ginnifer Goodwin, Natalie Portman and Kristin Bell. Well, she says it takes 35 minutes of cardio to burn off blood sugar before your body can start metabolizing fat.
Not sure if there's any validity to that...

Amy - I love your costume!!! It came out so good!!! That article sounds interesting, I wonder if it is true or not... I feel like it's one of those things that might work for some people and not for others, who knows though!!

I am so with you with the 2 week challenge, this weekend was horrible, and I am paying for it big time! Plus, I just found out that they aren't having my jazz class tonight because it's Halloween :( I'm going to do 30 DS though, maybe I'll try level 2 or something.. or maybe I'll do level 1 & 2... what do you guys think would be best??

    amysj303 Posts: 5,086 Member
I am going to do 30DS level 2, you should do that, or do both 1 and 2 if you feel like doing an hour.
did anyone happen to read the Bodyrocks announcement at Zuzanna and Freddie are breaking up and she doesn't plan to host the workouts, apparently, I felt sad:(

Hi all! I saw the link to this in the NTHG main thread. I've been wanting to try out hiit but have been a little shy to start.

    Liz - 5'2" 110lbs
Main Goal - decrease body fat
Challenge - replace steady state cardio with HIIT 3-4 times a week. I will be doing my HIIT on the elliptical. Wish me luck!
  • amysj303
    amysj303 Posts: 5,086 Member
Goodluck, Peace, I think with the HIIT you only have to do 20 minutes, so that's a bonus.
Oh, and I read a study that showed people who's diet was 43% vs. 55% carb lost more belly fat even when calories are the same, so I have my carbs set at 40 and need to try and stay under that!
  • shander7
    shander7 Posts: 613 Member
43% huh? I'll have to try that.. I wish I could make my own meals!! My mom would get way too offended if I tried to do that.. Do you count everything as carbs like MFP does? Or do you make exceptions for fruits and veggies??

I think for the next 2 weeks I will try to do some sort of workout 5-6 days of the week. Wednesdays are definitely out because I'm busy until 10pm.. but I'll try to do the other 4 days and at least 1 weekend day.

For the nutrition portion.. I will try to drink my entire 56 oz water bottle at work, and then another with dinner. I will also try to lower the amount of carbs I eat. That last part will definitely be the hardest!
