Just a thought

Ok, I have an idea for all of who have been here for so long. There are a lot of people joining day after day, which is wonderful. Mike has provided us with an amazing source. I know that it has changed my life. I have learned so much and have met so many people that I am proud to call friends.
May be for all of us who are getting burned out-some topics over and over-not saying bad about newbies-just we have been here so long that maybe who should have a veterns topic. For those who have been here for 6 months or more. It allows us to bring up things that are becoming a challange after being on the lifestyle change for so long-for us to talk about the stories we know about one another. Not isolating others, but just having the opportunity to continue the support that we have been giving-know and understanding what we need to do without having to read through the posts that are repeats.
Just a thought.
So, if I fully understand what you are saying....something like a "Maitenance" board (I may of killed the spelling there)?
Also, to cut back on "repeat" topics I seriously think a "Best of MFP" would be a great option. Even with some of the threads having a section designated for these sometimes their connecting site doesn't describe them well. Like if you were looking for a platue thread and it was labeled "Things you want to know..." So making a spot specific to information based threads, not necessary to be commented on but to just provide the info.0 -
I'm locking this thread temporarily until I have time to read through it...0

Hi everyone,
I've read through this topic, as well as the other recently locked topics, and just wanted to make a few comments:
- First, it's always sad when a friend decides to leave a site. We've had a couple of long-time members leave recently, and they will certainly be missed. They were huge assets to the site, and can't be replaced. I personally was very sad to see them go. But we should recognize that this is something that just naturally happens on a web site. People will come and go - no one will stay forever. That doesn't take away from the sadness we feel when they leave, but it's important to understand that it does happen and will happen again. Hopefully, they'll at least pop back in every once in a while to say hi, but in the mean time, let's respect their decision to move on and appreciate the people that are still here.
- People also have talked about the fact that MFP feels like a different place. I think there are a few primary reasons for that. First, I decided to crack down on the non-PG13 content. For those of you who wanted to take part in more risque content, then yes, MFP is a different place and will continue to be so. Allowing non-PG13 type of content is just not going to happen, so if that's not acceptable to you, you should move on.
Second, there have been a few disagreements recently about the community, especially around the non-PG13 content, and during that process, a lot of feelings were hurt and people were rubbed the wrong way. That is also going to happen sometimes in a community, especially one as big and diverse as ours. It is ok to disagree with one another, but we MUST do so respectfully. You may not like what another person has to say on these message boards, but if they say it respectfully, they are allowed to do so. What I will not allow are personal attacks, accusations, drama, etc. on the boards OR in mail messages. Members who continue to make those types of posts or send these types of messages will be suspended or banned. You can debate the message, but not attack the messenger.
If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all. That includes saying someone's av sucks by the way.
I can't make you all like one another, but what I can require is that everyone sticks to the forum rules. If you attack other members, you'll be suspended or banned. Also remember that one of the forum rules is to KEEP THE DRAMA OFF THE FORUMS. If you have an issue with another member, you can handle it through messages as long as you are respectful. But the forums are certainly not the place for that. It specifically states in the forum rules not to post about email messages you received from other members. Again, violators will be suspended or banned, so please make sure to stick to the forum rules at all times.
Finally, for ALL of us, MFP will eventually feel like a different place. I'm not trying to trivialize the issues we are having in the community - I think they are real, and I'm trying to come up with some solutions. And I appreciate all of the suggestions you've made, including the one that started this topic. I can't promise I will either implement or even agree with every suggestion you make, but I can promise I'll listen. But, even with the real issues we face, I think it's important to recognize that even if MFP was perfect, it would eventually feel like a different place to all of us. That's because it is always changing. New members will arrive, and old members will leave. Some of the new members you won't like, and some of your favorite members won't stick around. Just like in life, the people around us change all the time, and as much as we might want to keep that core special group of friends together, time passes and life goes on.
And during this time, we ourselves are changing too. All of us "veterans" were once newbies too, and when we first got here, MFP was all shiny and new. But over time, you learn the ropes, and the things that you first thought were so exciting are now routine. We will either find new ways to love MFP (and I'll keep trying to provide more reasons!) or we move on. I have no illusions that MFP will be able to keep anyone here forever. But during your time here, I'll do my best to make it as rewarding and fun as possible.
I just think it's important to remember that, while we have real issues, we also have something very special. Every day, I see new people on the message boards, and I see members losing weight and achieving their goals, and a large part of that success comes from the support we can all find here in the community. We are all part of that success, and for that, we should be both proud and grateful.
Please remember - be civil to one another at all times. That is my requirement, and if you can't stick to that, I'll have to suspend or ban you. That is something I would REALLY prefer not to do, but I will if I have to. But it just doesn't seem that hard to me for everyone to be respectful to one another, so please, help me out and make sure to treat one another with respect.
Thanks, and hope you're enjoying the site.0 -
