Hi Becky! I guess its hard for you to sleep in, do you go to bed early?
    floating on a boat, fun!
Buzz, have you tried compression? Wrap what you can with an ace bandage. When my wrists hurt, I wrap them tightly.
gayla, sorry about your eyes and your allergy to cats. Does the baby shampoo help with that?
just finished my shift driving, time for my napnap

But wait! JCkie and Deb, what is cream tea?

I can't seem to sleep much past 6:00.

    Happy Monday!

My granddaughter and her friends are on their way back to Minnesota. I have tons of bedding and towels to wash but still might figure out a way to play today.

Still maintaining my weight even though I have not been logging food. I have been very active as far as exercise including walking Daisy when I am home. I still watch what I eat and never eat desserts and always watch my sugar intake so I think I am doing well.
Summer is almost over as far as the kids going back to school, so we try to do as much as we can with them. Today I might join Cheryl at the wave pool and Wednesday Great America. Tomorrow is my casino day (no more bingo) so my life is full and rewarding.

    Have a great day everyone!!

Hi Phoebe ~ Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cream_tea as it's even got a picture!! There is a slight difference in a Devonshire cream tea where Deb was holidaying to a Cornish one where I live, mostly to do with whether the cream is spread on the scone before the jam or visa versa. Makes absolutely no difference to the taste of course.:drinker: :drinker:

    Happy Monday everyone!!

Friday was the wedding at 1:00 pm and reception at 5:00pm
The wedding was at the brink of Niagara Falls and the
reception was back at their house. Beautiful big backyard and a
large tent for at least 200 people. Live band with carribean music.
It was hot and sticky that day but a good time had by all!

Saturday Dave and I cleaned the boat inside and out. We had a BBQ
and stayed the night on the boat. Hot and sticky no air.

Sunday went for breakfast and then waited for my sister-in-law and
brother-in-law to come for a sail. No wind so we ended up motoring.
Went to a restaurant for dinner and then home to the air conditioning.

It is supposed to be cooler this week back in the high 70's. We can only hope.

 Marie: I hope your weather breaks soon, power outages are no fun. Especially
when the A/C is not on.
 Buzz: I hope your elbow feels better, I had tendonitis once and it took me months
of physio to get it better.
 Barbie: Good Luck on your new house and neighborhood and I hope you have
many more years of happiness. I love the food suggestions, just want we needed
to hear. I have been already doing some of your suggestions. Its been hard this
summer with all the parties and such but during the week I am pretty strict with
myself. Events will be winding down soon so I hope to make some changes soon.
    Judy: HAPPY BIRTHDAY

    Have a great day!

Buss hope you are feeling better now.
Our old bodies can't take what it used to.

Deb Good to hear from you.

Gayla always a pleasure hearing from you. Sorry about your allergy.

Shirley sounds like you and your husband had a wonderful time this summer.

Jackie your stories from UK are so interesting.

Sandy sounds like you are having the time of your life.

Barbiecat you are not on this page so will have to go hunting for you

Hello Phoebe. You have a great day. I found a Bubba st Walmart this morning and they only had one in the kitchen ware dept. but it was sort of heavy. And it was way to big for my fat little hand. So I wsill just used this hospital one and it is working out pretty well.

    Hello Everyone

I know I've been MIA but we've been so busy. I also been plagued with awful sciatica pain. However today I had a great massage. I sure hope this helps me out. I've been sleeping so poorly and trying out every bed in the house hoping to find one that won't hurt my back.

Tomorrow we are taking 3 of our Grandkids fishing if the weather is nice. I sure hope so as we are all looking forward to it.

Here's a photo I took the other day. Hope you enjoy it..

Hi everyone. I hope you are all enjoying a summer day. I wish you would cool down a bit, Marie, so that you could enjoy summer too!

Phoebe -- yes, the baby shampoo really helps the dry eyes but if it gets away on me and I end up with infection I usually need antibiotic drops. When I am crazy enough to be around animals I always need antihistamine. I do love cats and we had cats for years but the allergies have become worse over the years.

Jeri -- sorry you are dealing with sciatica. It is such a pain in the butt! Hilarious, I know. I did find physio very helpful when I had a bout of it. Have you had it before?

I better get to bed and try to sleep. I have an early morning tomorrow. I am getting my hair cut and a pedicure but I will have to drive Dave in to our son's. They want a very early start. Ugh! Sharing a car is not great and it really takes some getting used to!

Take care and keep smiling. Thinking of you all. Hope the move goes well, Barbie.

:flowerforyou: Gayla, what is physio? I also suffer from sciatica. Mine has a tendency to run all

:flowerforyou: Jeri, speaking of sciatica. You are probably on the right track if you are exercising. I have notice that mine doesn't act up as much as it used to.

:flowerforyou: FancyLady, thank you so much for the picture. I love it. Have a great time fishing with your grandchildren. And, I hope you catch a lot of fish.

:flowerforyou: CALLIECAT, you have me curious. Just what is a Bubba? I should scroll back to the older posts and find out myself.

I am flying back to Ohio late this afternoon. Can't wait to see my husband and my youngest daughter.

Happy Tuesday!! Casino anyone??? I have changed my Wednesday night bingo night to Tuesday, casino day. :blushing: Let's just hope I continue to keep breaking even so I can continue this trend.

Becky, it is always nice to travel but oh so good to go home. I am glad you are asking about the Bubba because I don't know what it is either. I do think they mean physical therapy for the sciatica because exercise is the best cure for it. I too suffer with the after effects of sciatia and the back of my legs act up if I walk barefoot for some reason. :noway:

Gayla, how did Neil enjoy his fishing trip? Sounds like a good day to pamper yourself with a hair do and pedicure and you well deserve it.

Jeri, you take the most beautiful pictures, do you ever enter them in contests? Did you ever get the final results from your last surgery? No news is good news.

Marie, it really amazes me that you can have so many days of such extreme heat without rain. As soon as we hit high temps we start to get violent storms. Today our weather is gettig more comfortable without the high humidity and tomorrow is supposed to be better which is great since we are going to Six Flags for another full day,

Shirely, the wedding sounds like it was beautiful, a background of Niagara Falls, fantastic. Your summer is going well with wonderful memories. :drinker:

Jackie, I just checked the cream .tea and it looks delicious. How is it in nutrition mostly sugar.

Barbie and Jake, have their hands full with the move, I wish we could all go and help them.:glasses:

Hope everyone else is doing well and has a great day, take it one day at a time.

 Jeri: I love that picture. It is beautiful.

 Gayla: One day we will be owning just one car when we both retire.
Probably another 4 years to go. Right now we need both of them.

 Barbiecat: Hope all is going well with move.

 Sandy: Good luck at the casino. Remember that's how they stay alive with
    your money. LOL
 Swissmiss: Enjoy your family visit.

Rainy day today, will not walk at lunch. I am going to read and relax at lunch break.
Been experiencing a stomach ache last few days, comes and goes. Dave said there is an
intestinal bug going around. Uugh!! Anyway, hope I feel better.

    Have a great day ladies.

:flowerforyou: Shirley, I had a thought while reading your post about your stomach troubles. Could it be that the bug may be trying to get a hold on you but can't because you are eating healthy?

:flowerforyou: Sandy, good luck at BINGO tonight. This is Tuesday right? My days are running together.

I am just waiting it out til 5:00 when I will be taken to the airport. I did go shopping with my granddaughter and bought some items for those I left at home.

:brokenheart:   the progress of the move has come to a standstill......there is nothing left to move or pack until we start moving things into the new house and we can't move into the new house until escrow closes first on the house we're selling and then on the house we're buying then all the stuff has to be recorded at the courthouse.:grumble: :grumble: :grumble: missing papers, computer downtime, and goofy requests by the lender have slowed everything down.:grumble: :grumble: :grumble: so while we wait, we watch TV, walk, eat, and play with dogs.   so things might close tomorrow or Thursday and until then we wait with a smile

:flowerforyou: Marie, I talked to three women today who are vacationing here to get away from the heat in Texas. they thought our temperatures in the 60's were wonderful. I wore a turtleneck, sweatshirt, and long pants to the dog park this afternoon

 Becky, glad you had a good trip, but I'll bet you're looking forward to the comforts of home

 Buzz, I hope your elbow is better soon for your sake and for us so you can write more to share with us

 Shirley, I hope you feel better soon. That wedding at Niagara Falls sounds wonderful

 Jeri, your photo is amazing

 Gayla, does Neil want to go on another fishing trip?

Right now my life is none of my business. i am powerless over all this paperwork and red tape involved in house selling and buying...I just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

:flowerforyou: The day was so mentally exhausting that we decided to go out to dinner and splurged on a ton of yummy Mexican food........look at my food diary and you'll see how overboard I went

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.
He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'

'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.

'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.

'Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.'

The man gestured, and the gate began to open. 'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'

'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'

'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.

'There should be a bowl by the pump,' said the man.

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree. 'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.

    'This is Heaven,' he answered.

'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said.

'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'

'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell.'

'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'

'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Happy Wednesday!! We will be at Six Flags all day and night, will check in tomorrow.

    Have a great day!!

SANDY. I loved your post. I did get my results back and this time they did get a clear margin. No cancer in the sample. I have my follow up with the surgeon next week but i am healing very well. A few problems from time to time but nothing much. I am now waiting to hear from the cancer clinic as to when I will start chemo. That is the next step. I will be glad to have this journey far behind me.

We had so much fun taking the grand kids fishing yesterday. Zach caught 7 and Elizabeth caught 6. Heather didn't catch any but she learned how to cast well. We all enjoyed ourselves a lot.

Today we went with our dd to tour the new homeschool kindergarten. We will be driving our twin grandsons once a week to that. I'll try to schedule my chemo so it doesn't interfere with it.

But I see it is supper time. My dh is into the corn chips, I'd better feed him. LOL

    Until tomorrow . . . .

the smileys aren't working ----boo hoo

Escrow closed this afternoon on the sale of our house and the purchase of the new house. On the way to the dog park I took the "for sale" sign to the realtor's office, then went to the title company to pick up the final papers and check for the sale of our house, took the check to the bank through the drive through where they have dog biscuits if you have your dogs in the car. After the dog park I met Jake at the new house where he had already unloaded a bunch of boxes. The dogs like the new house. We had them there with us all evening after going and picking up two more carloads of boxes. tomorrow all the animals will be boarded. I call it "going to summer camp". We'll pick them up on Tuesday when the move will be done and we'll be out of the old house.

Barbie ~ Hooorah you're in!!! It seems moving house is stressful whichever side of the Atlantic you live so well done to you both for staying calm. Now just enjoy unpacking at your own pace and loving your new home. (a big red smiley heart for you all!)

Sandy ~ I loved your story and imagine hell was based on a few unscrupulous places on this side of the divide!! As for any kind of count on a cream tea I'd say what with thick cream, fresh strawberry jam and homemade scones it's probably best not to log because it's all in there!! (I'd put a laughing smiley here if I could!!)

Deb ~ You eat your cream tea the Devon way which is understandable since that's where you were! I tend to put jam on first, then cream but keep the scones split so that I can have 4 helpings!!!

Jeri ~ Great news so stay as positive as you are and this journey will be done before you know it!! Love your butterfly photo. You could be a professional!! I tried to take one of a butterfly in my garden the other day but it kept flitting about so I think most are blurred.

Marie ~ Hope you're ok and not melted away in that heat. Any sign of a break?

I was supposed to walk with my friends across the moors this afternoon but the weather is a bit threatening so doesn't look like we'll be going. The house is tidy because I worked hard on Tuesday before a friend visited for the day, can't garden in the rain and the bedroom decorating is finished so looks like a lazy afternoon catching up with my reading ahead of me.

Everyone take care (another big red heart!!)

    Jackie
