I found a bra size calculator that ISN'T wrong! OMG!

It says 34... I'm on the loosest setting on a 36 and some days I feel like I have bra rolls. I don't think going down a size would be doing me any favors!0

im a 32B. i have YET to find a bra i like in that size0

Rule of thumb for measurements - A cup size for every inch difference between your chest and bust measurement (at least for those of us on the Imperial system, from the looks of the other numbers, I'd guess they have a similar logic behind at least most of them). That's really all that calculator does is do that math for you (which is a nice convenience factor) using that guideline. At least it's honest!
As for Victoria Secret - they cater specifically to smaller women (like seriously, have you seen their models? That's their ideal demographic). If you're anything larger than about a 38 or DD, don't expect to find much (and even on that upper end, don't expect to find much other than maybe sportswear). I used to do work for them and when we asked about them carrying larger sizes, they said they never will, as that's not their target demographic and they have no interest in changing that.
Thanks for confirming this. I"ve always been a bit peeved at VS because the brick and morter stores do not carry my size anymore. (40). They stop at 38 band size. Now, the catalog and online VS do carry a size 40 but its mostly only in the full coverage styles. HELLLOOO there VS..I realize your demographic is young and small, but perhaps you should reconsider being as older women (for the most part) tend to have the money to be able to spend on your extreemly overpriced bra's. Besides which, a size 40 band is in NO WAY a huge size!
the only difference I can tell is that the young teen/early 20's demographic may have less money, but what they do have is generally more disposable income then that of the older demographic. But it still peeves me that I cant walk into one of their stores (which by the way I happen to have a credit card for) and buy something off the shelf. I've been seriously considering just boycotting them alltogeather.0 -

Hello Ladies!
If you have a larger bust size (like me)--whenever you go down and inch or two in bust size, you wanna know how to calculate your new bra size, but! Company's like Victoria's Secret and others try to put you in HUGE band sizes with small cups...GRRR...you get spill over and saggy boobs, sport's bras that make people yell, "get a bra!" at you when you go running (I kid you not! This happened to me when I was wearing TWO sports bras at once (crappy kind I don't buy anymore that they sell in the sportswear section)). Until that one golden day when you go to a proper bra fitter and they say something like, "Oh no honey! You are NOT at 38DD, you are a 34DDDD!" OMG...seriously...Vic's Secret was shoving me into bras they sold in their store (cups only go to DD there) and because that's how they were taught to size...Sad! For me this wonderful place was the Seattle Flagship Nordstrom (Oh ligurie dept. you really do have my size and care about my fit!)--I swear it nearly made me cry.
Anyhow! I'm lost a few inches since then, been resized and am a 32DDD (yay!). I found this fit calculator that does NOT add 4 inches to your band size when sizing--so the cups are accurate!

Website is completely random, but this fitter works great. Underbust and Over bust are all you need. Happy hunting ladies!
Thanks for the link. Will check it out.0 -
Uh..there is absolutely no way I'm a 30DD :noway: :laugh:0

This is great! Thanks for sharing!!0

I ALWAYS go to Nordstrom when I need to be refitted. The whole "swing sizing" concept never made sense to me...if "90% of support is supposed to come from the band," how is screwing around with the band size to make the cups fit a good idea??
This! I started going to Nordstrom's a few years ago.. I only trust those fitters! Amazingly, it agrees to the calculator that was posted here...0 -
Bump Thanks0

you can get a bra calculator? never knew that0

Bump cause I have no idea what I am anymore. Every store I went to gave me something different.0

It says that I am a 36DD, but I am quite comfy in a 40B. VS says that I am a 36C. I was thinking, "Sure, Lady...that's probably what you tell everyone." A 36C is too tight and the cup is too small. I give up.0

totally gutted now im down from a 34E to a 32D  :grumble:0

Even for us small-busted gals, this is a great tool for us. I've had calculators tell me I was a double AA cup which is so not true. My cup runneth over in a size like that, lol. I'm a 34B (a full but never an A or even AA cup. Thanks for posting this! Very useful indeed.0

So has anyone else gotten a bra size that can't possibly be right? I'm wearing a 34C right now but the calculator says I'm a 30DD..that doesn't seem like it could be right. So confused.0
-
This is great! I went to VS and they told me I was a DD!! No way in crap are these things that big... I'm a complicated C. Bs are waaayy to small, but Cs get big. It's really confusing!
I so agree!! One VS store told me I was an A and one told me I was a C!!! I too am complicated by the way they try to measure! Some B's are big on me and some I pop out of and some fit just right!!
So I will be checking this out at home too!0 -
I was just refitted professionally & this site overestimates cup size. I'm an H and it is saying K or L.0
-
Wow! Still going! To all those this helps--or at least gets you into a store that knows their business, I'M SO HAPPY I've helped!
No one who "disbelieves" the tool will every come back, but I can't say enough (apparently!): Cup size ISN'T static. And HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR BREAST VOLUME. It is merely a reflection of the difference between the measure of your rib cage *just* under your breasts, and the measure of your bust across your breasts.
Support comes from the band--not the straps. This is important, so I'll repeat it, support comes from the band and not the straps!
I don't care "what you've always been"--you can't have "always been that size" because most sizers agree that if you've gained or lost 5-10lbs your bra size--band AND (possibly) cup have changed.
(I'm speaking in US chart terms here ladies--but I believe the concept translates and bra manufacturers appear to have the same confusing sizing concepts the world over)
an "A" cup in a 40 is the same size CUP (you know that part that holds your ladies in) as:
CUP in a 40A=CUP in a 38B=CUP in a 36C=CUP in a 34D=CUP in a 32DD=CUP in a 30DDD=CUP in a 28DDDD
Given that--is it REALLY that impossible, that as you've lost weight--if your breasts really have remained the same size (heaven forbid)--the band went down in size (as did you! Good JOB!), but the CUP SIZE WENT UP. Yup. That's the truth.
SO! DON'T YOU WANT YOUR LADIES TO STAND UP PROUD?? Since support comes from--where? YES, SUPPORT COMES FROM THE BAND. You want a SNUG band. If "you've always been" having gaping, double boob, SAGGY looking breasts and bought push up bras in hope of help, or cinched your straps to try to "haul up" the ladies--if you've "always" felt slightly bummed about how you look in a tee shirt because of how your breasts look, if you--I'm NOT JOKING--want to look, like 5-10lbs lighter because your bra fits right, holding your breasts up proud and hiding your stomach just a little bit better--then just TRY the size your measurements give you, or go see a GOOD ligurie sizer.
Don't believe me? Go try that bad boy on! And remember, don't measure over your clothes.0 -
Thank you for posting. it's something I have struggled with...err.... forever actually. Now I will feel confident that i can get a new bra when I need one rather than waiting until I have lost a ton and then having to go into Nordstroms.0

I tried it and it said I was a 40H. I've been wearing a 38DD, the highest I've ever been was like 42DD. I've been wanting to get sized by a professional, but didn't know where to go. Thanks for all the info ladies. Unfortunately we don't have a Nordstrom's here in Boise, but hopefully I can find some place. When I get to my goal weight next year, I definitely want to get measured correctly and invest in some bras that fit. I've been in nursing bras for the past 3 years, both with underwire and sports type for sleeping/exercising and the sports type seem to support better then the underwire. I feel like I'm always sagging and having to pull the straps back up to readjust, but if I'm really an H, that could explain why I don't have enough support. Thanks for the forum. Definitely gave me something to think about.0
