I am really having to resrict my fat with health problems. I ate a little too much for dinner yesterday.
We celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary with a nice meal out and I ate a few fats I shouldn't have and felt it last night. I quess i wil learn the hardway. I know what I am supposed to eat and hoped cutting back on fat would also help me loose weight and i am doing pretty good. I just have to remember not to eat fried onion rings. Probably the worst thing I could eat.
ellie:glasses: (going to the beach today for our walk!:bigsmile:0 -
Good Morning!
Missed all of you yesterday! Busy day! Not a lot going on here, just work and exercise. I need to go post my new weight. I upped my calories some and have lost more wieght, about 2 pounds last week. I think that I may have had my carbs too low for my workout level. I have one more week and then I will have completed P90X whew! I will then just go and do it again.
Marie Sam sang "unexpected Song" very nice piece. She really did a great job with it. We are not sure if she is going to sing at Dollywood or not this year. She thinks that she may just want to spend her last summer at home. I am good with "her" choice.
Shar- There are a couple of good size firms over in Henderson. Atlantis Plastic and Gibbs Die Casting. You might try those. Don't forget about Alcoa in Newburg and the Jasper area. And, have you ever considered teaching?
Take care! Glad all of you out west missed the storms. Pouring rain here!

Hello everybody,. We have a beatiful day this morning after a bad storm last night. The wind blow and blow and did it ever rain. we needed it badly and so did my onion bulbs. Made them come out to see the sun today. So they will do OK.
Ellie , sounds like you are really going to have to watch your fat or you will pay for it. I try to get my 3 t, of good fat in a day and that is all. but I do love those onion rings, one of my fav. Its been a long time since I have had any. Hungry Girl has a recipe in her cookbook using fiber one cereal. I haven't tried it yet. Have a good day.
Jeffrey. Your daughter name is Sam Now she is the one still in College? I have never been to Dollywood. What is P90X? Heard you talk of it but never knew exactly what it is. WOW on the 2 lbs. lost. Did miss you yesterday.
Hi Phoebe, Where are you headed now? Back out to Calif. Watch out for the storms.
Bigramma
How are you today? Did you get any of this rain? Hey i am full of questions this morning.
I have my oatmeal with 1 t. of coconut oil. Pretty filling. For lunch I may have a leancusine pizza. I bought some fresh strawberries and spinach and I might just have a big bowl of salad. And a bowl of soup.
HAVE A GREAT DAY

Hi Everyone, since I am a senior citizen (66) I am hoping I can join your message board. I joined in January and so far have lost 4 pounds with a goal of losing 15 pounds. My weight seems to fluculate daily but because I am doing the elipitical I am hoping it does so because of muscle.
I really want to tone up so that I can wear a swimsuit this summer and look decent. :glasses: I have
been doing pretty good on my calorie intact and try to do 30 minutes of exercise daily. I do have a Wii Fit but I haven't been doing it as faithful as the elipitical. Do you think I am too old to get a flatter tummy
and smaller theighs? My husband is so supportive and constantly tells me I don't have to diet, but he
has such good metabolism he doesn't have to worry. Thanks for listening and I look forward to reading the posts. :bigsmile:0 -
Hello Sandy. So very glad to meet you.and you are so welcome to our group We are a nice bunch of guy and gals.
We have another one that used the elipitical. Her name is Biggramma. I stop and look it up just now for I didn't know what it was. A nice looking machine. What all does it do? The one I look at was kind of expensive. Does all of them cost that much? You dtwo make a very good looking couple. How many years have you been married?
My husband does not have to watch what he eats either although he is a dibectic.Hee is on Pills and i am on insulin and still have problems controlling mine.
I love the food chart here woke me up to a lot of things. I try to keep my calories between 1200 and 1300. You get lots to eat if you just make the right choice.
Be looking forward to hearing more from you.
Marie0 -
Yes the elliptical machine I have is very expensive....It is a Nortic Track.....However I did not buy it...my oldest son did....He weighed 383 and need a professional size on to hold his weight...then he only used it for a few weeks......But I use it almost everyday....even when I am not feeling well..I just take it slower......It is easy on the knees and back...or at least it is for me......
The rain is suppose to be on the way...but I see no rain clouds right now...we had sun most of the day.
My prayers are going up for those in the path of the tornados....
Hi Sandy I am glad you found this tread.....
Have a wonderful evening to you all....:flowerforyou:0 -

Good morning, Jeffrey.Phoebe, Shar, Ellie, Biggramma, and a hearty welcome to Sandy, Also Good Morning to Pat, i sure hope you made it thru the bad storms the other night, and all the rest of you Have a great morning.
Phoebe, I did read up the that Power X , Too much for me.I think I will leave that to Jeffrey. He is doing such a good job
Jeffrey so proud to see the extra 2 lbs melt off. You are getting closer to your goal weight. You are a shinning example. And remember you promise a photo of you the new you wfhen you reach your goal.
Biggramma have you been on your machine yet. Oh I forot you are 2 hours later than us So you ar probable still sleeping. I haven\t been up to long. Got my menu all posted on the food chart this morning. Have an extra 200 calories for some snacks.
Everyone had a great day, love Marie0 -
Thank you for the warm welcome, I need all the encouragement I can get. I did a weigh in today and I gained two pounds. I am not going to let that get me down however and tell myself that it is muscle building. I do 30 minutes on the elipitical on program 3 or 4, which mean it inclines during the program and it is a little more intense. I am just going to keep doing what I am doing except try drinking more water which I think will help.
Hope those of you that are having bad weather are doing ok, will keep you in my prayers.
Thanks BigGramma, you can run but you can't hide. (just kidding)0 -
Hi Sandy., ... I go up and down too. I don't change my weight untill I stablilize Once it fo down and stay down and then I change my weight. I don't like to be reminded of going backwards
Phoebe---Thanks so much for the cookbook aand did you make that lovely card. It was so sweet of you. I seen yours and jiim Recipes dthat you contribute dto it. Is that dsthe name of your co. Lots of good reciopes. This old granny has got to try some of them.
A tornada went real close to my Grandaughter house in Springfield , Mo. She sent me pictures of it. I didn't know Mo. was hidt. Anyway kind of scary for them. I am so thankful it did not get to close to them. But feel so sorry for the people was affected.
So nice and peaceful here, Jerry has gone to Dallas to a Docter. Just me and Sammy.
Have a good day----Marie0 -
Good Afternoon.......I am watching NASCAR right now....I went to the gas station and the grocery store this morning...
I did 15 minutes on level 2 when I got home....Oh that is on the elliptical.....I will do another 15 minutes later....
I am still having problems with my breathing so am taking it slow...but I burn 117 calories per 15 minutes...at least that is what I use....I get this number from another site....MFP says I burn more but I would rather use a lower number....
I pray that you all are staying safe in your weather..our weather is very nice today....but we really need that rain that they have promised......One good thing is we are getting a lot of snow in the near by mountains so that will help with the lakes....
Have a terrific Thursday....:flowerforyou:0 -
Well I did get in the second 15 minutes on the ET....So I am happy with myself.....:flowerforyou:0

Sandy-sameThing happened to me-made me so mad I have'nt weighed since! bigramma-I'm glad you are going easy til you feel better had a good but late breakfast and a chees stick with 3 peanut butter crackers for a snack. dinner will probably be soup and salad. have a good night!0
-
Pat is ok. storm damage missed her. goodnight moon!0
-
Wow Biggamma you burn a lot of calories on your elipitical, you must be going pretty fast. I only burn between 100 and 125 calories for 30 minutes. I go about 4 miles per hour, at least I think that is what it means and I get tired. Do I have to try and increase my speed as well as the incline? This losing weight is a lot of work.0

Good Morning Everyone!
Sounds like you are all busy. Marie the P90X is a work out program that is put out by Beachbody. Information can be found on Beachbody.com. It is very intense and very physical. I love it. It is VERY challenging. It really focus on core strength (between the neck and knees). I thought that I was in decent shape before starting the program 12 weeks ago. I wasn't! I was doing 800 crunches a night along with some cardio and about 30 minutes on my eliptical, and I found out that I was not in shape. And I have had sore muscles for 12 weeks, but I have achieved strength that I have NEVER had. So for me it was great thing, but it will tell you that the program is NOT for everyone.
Those of you that use the eliptical, which I believe is the best overall piece of equipment made for us older folks, I have found a couple of things out through time. Stay with it! It will build endurance and it is easy on the joints (knees, shoulders, etc). Watch your heart rate. There are several web sites that you can determine the best heart rate for your work out. And don't forget to consult your doctor! Watch the heart rate and try to stay in your zone. When you look it up you will see what I mean. I try to keep mine at about 150 during my work outs and that is very hard for me to do. I usually burn about 400 to 500 calories every 30 minutes when I am really going at it. I use a resistance setting of 6 or 7 (10 is the hardest) and try to keep a pace of over 60 strides per minute. When your heart rate is up you burn more calories. Most elipticals have heart rate monitors on the grips. If not, you can get one at Wal-Mart for about $40 that is very functional. I use a Mio wrist type. Research this information! Find what you think you can do with effort and go get it! But as with anything, and I do this religiously, talk with you doctor about what is appropriate for you! That is critical for optimum results!
Not wanting to ramble, but share my info, I have made another change in the last 2 weeks that has taken off 3 pounds in the last 8-9 days. I have changed my eating pattern. I have my big meal at lunch and my small one at night. I have upped my calories! I was not getting enough to sustain a good metalolic rate at 1350. I am now at about 1800 and losing weight, but keep in mind my workout level is extreeme for a 55 year old. I also attribute a lot of the success to Yoga. It keeps me flexible and well balanced and able to do a lot of different things. It is different but some of you know that I have spoken about this before and believe in it totally. We should all be able to do some yoga as long as we can stand up! LOL.
I am very proud of all of you! You are all trying to be healthier and that is a wonderful thing! It is tough! And we all have different genetics and life styles. For me it has not been a diet and workout program, but a Lifestyle change. And Ladies! It is harder for you all than it is for us men folk, just hang with it!
I hope that some of the rambling may be useful! Have a great day and I will check in later!0 -
Thanks Jeffrey for the information. You have always been such a biig help here.
today we go to the grocer store and then my sweetie is taking me out to eat for valentine. We are going to a ateak house. I will get them to place half of my meal in a container to bring home and have for lunch tomorrow. They just serve too much food. And I will take my own salad dressing.

This is a new co. that I have not order before.and don't know how to get around on it yet. It is a design pack of lace that I can used on my cards.
