Good morning all of you.
Biggramma---- I love hearing from you. And see what going on in Ca.Good luck on your test . Enjoy your roast.. Its nice to have your son living with you.
Sandy --- I have had back problems for years but is getting worst now. Can't stand too long, as soon as I sit down it goes away. Jerry, Docter told him the other day that after75 you don't have to worry about prostate cancer. But I don't really believe that. My father had it and all I remember about it was the docter said he would probally die of natural cause or getting hit by a car than dying with prostate cancer. But my oldest brother who is 76 has prostate and the cancer has spread all over his body. And even has bone cancer. He had some radiation and right now he is not in any pain
Barbie-- So nice to hear from you again. How many furry friends do you have?.
Phoebe, Jeffrey missed you guys yesterday.
Have a great day:flowerforyou:0 -
Good Morning, hope all woke up to a beautiful healthly day. :flowerforyou: Marie, the doctor told my husband the same thing, that if you are over 75, they rarely do anything about prostate cancer. He said it is the slowest form of cancer and in most instances an elder gentleman would probably die of something else. My husband is 68, so he had the surgery.
I hope you stay out of pain until you get the brace. I think back pain is one of the worst kind of pains you can have.
How is everyone else doing? Hope you are on track with your diets and exercise and if a little encouragement is needed, we are here. Hope all the famlly members are doing great. I am personally stuck at losing 5 pounds, doesn't seem my scale wants to go any lower. :frown:
Have a great day everyone.

GOOD MORNING..... I am back from having my blood drawn....I hate needles....This little gal hurt me and left a big bruise on my arm....oh well it is just part of it......
My son does not live with me...he lives down the block from me...but when he comes home he spends alot of time with me....and my dog....He loves my dog..
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far....Looks like rain here today...but they say not until tomorrow evening...:flowerforyou:0 -
Biggramma I hate needles also, I can never watch them take blood or even give me a shot. :noway:
Sorry about your bruise, hope it heals quick. :flowerforyou: It is nice that your son lives so close, you get your privacy and his company which is good. I looked at the pictures of your cat and dog and they are gorgeous. What kind of cat is JJ? I have a mutt who we think is german shephard and terrier.
We rescued him from California 9 years ago, where my step daughter saw him in a ditch off the freeway, thus his name Freeway. He has been through a lot, when rescued he had a shattered femur and no feeling in his leg. We ended up having his leg amputated and he gets along wonderful on three legs.He has bone cancer now, but is doing very well. We won't let him suffer and want him to enjoy his last days as much as possilbe. He is a special dog with a special place in our hearts.
0 -
JJ is a minature poodle.....and the cat is JJ's Kitty...she is just a gray shorthaired cat....mixed breed.
What a special family you are to rescue that dog....I hope he does well...and that he does not suffer...makes me sadwhen animals are sick.....
Not much going on here...
Hope you all are having a super Saturday.....:flowerforyou:0 -
On the subject of pets (also known as furry friends, children, babies, the angels of my heart) we have four.
Haifa is a black and white cat that we found abandoned in 1995 as a tiny kitten at a rest stop on US 101 north of Ukiah, California. He is aloof and very scornful of the three younger pets. He likes to sit behind us on the back of the couch and bite our hair.
Brandy is a black standard poodle born in July 2005. She was the next to smallest in her litter and full grown is only 45 pounds. She is a kisser and loves to chase birds and both the cats. Her favorite place to sleep is in the middle of the bed.
Bernie is the son of a stray cat that was saved by a friend. He was born October 2006. He is very affectionate and loves to tease the dogs and hunt for birds and rodents when he's outside. His favorite place to sleep is on top of me.
Sasha is a red standard poodle born July 2007. We weren't going to get another dog but when we heard about her we couldn't resist. As the next to smallest in her litter of 11 she had been body slammed by one of the larger male litter mates. Her leg was broken and she'd been isolated from the other puppies so she could heal. It was a challenge keeping her from running and jumping while she healed but now if you see her run you'd never know she'd been injured. Full grown she weighs only 35 pounds.
I tried the easiest of the weight loss workouts on the Nordic Track bike this morning and it was hard enough to make me uneasy about what the harder workouts involved. I played music from my MP3 player and the 20 minutes seemed to go pretty quickly.
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend. :flowerforyou:0 -
Good Morning
Phoebe---- where are you? Haven't heard from you in a few days. Hope all is fine. Hope your FIL is Ok
Barbie, sounds like you have a time with you animals. we enjoy ours too. Calie the cat is usally on my lap and Sammie the Jack Russell is on Jerry lap..If Jerry is outside they are both on my lap. They play a lot together.
Biggramma ----How is JJ and JJ 's kitty.?
Jeffrey---how are your felines? Have you talk you wife into letting you have another kitty?
Sandy, That was so nice of you and your husband taking in your dog. So glad he is getting around so good on 3 legs.
I am thinking about getting me a stationary bike. I look on walmart site and they have some pretty reasonable. My circulation is so bad and I stay cold all the time.
Well everybody have a wonderful Sunday. Marie0 -
Good morning everyone, hope you are all having better weather than us today!! supposed to snow this afternoon, of course I know it won't be anything compared to everyone north of Tennessee, but it is something here, coz no one stays home.. they all have to go to the store.
Not me, I am in for the duration.
Marie, my fil is a stubborn coot.. he says about a pacemaker, that he does not want a pig valve inside his chest!! We think He Thinks he wants to go ahead and die, but when the time comes, he will regret his decision. He went home from the hospital, and we will see him next week. We will have to call his daughter today to get a true update on his condition, coz he won't tell us more than he wants to say, and his speech is slurred to the point that we can't understand him.. don't know what that is about. He always did slur his speech a little bit.
Marie, If you are going with a full size bike, make it a recumbent bike.. those others are too painful on a sore back. I urge you to try one of the little tabletop pedalers first. you can use it on your arms, then your legs without the big space the recumbent takes up.. Just my two cents!!
catching up on emails and cleaning up the pc a bit, then I will download some audiobooks onto my mp3. THat is about all I have planned today.
I love hearing about your pets,, Barbie, it sounds like you have or need a king size bed!!
Sandy, that is sad about Freeway, but you are right to spend a lot of time with him. He knows what is going on, and he accepts it.. they always do, better than humans!! It makes you wonder about pet food when the pets get the same diseases as people. I've read that raw pet food advocates believe illness is caused by diet. I don't know about it myself, the ingredients on pet food sounds like human food to me!! or at least some brands.. not all.. I remember my fil fed his dogs 'Twin Pet' canned food.. you could see the red dye tint in the food when you opened it. His chow died from cancer and I wondered about that food.
take care and have a safe day0 -
GOOD MORNING
Looks like rain here today...but I have been saying that for several days...but now the forecasters are also saying it...
JJ. and JJ's Kitty are doing well thank you for asking...
My house smells wonderful this morning...the roast that I put in the crock pot before I went to bed last night really smells good....My son will enjoy making wraps out of it....BBQ sauce and onions along with the meat.....Yum..
I hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday.....:flowerforyou:0 -
:flowerforyou: Hi Everybody,
It's a new month and the snow is melting. I can't take the dogs to the dog park because our car is still in the shop and two seater sports car won't hold two adults and two dogs. Brandy and Sasha are OK when they're walked on leash but as soon as they see a bird they try to run after it. Walking dogs on leash is good exercise but exhausting>
the pets take up so much space in bed that lots of nights Jim sleeps on the hide a bed in the living room so he can stretch out without kicking an animal.
I know there are lots of kinds of exercise bikes so it's probably a good idea to try them out and be sure that they don't hurt somewhere when you use them. I don't worry too much about an upper body workout on the bike. I have some 3 pound and 5 pound hand weights and I do stuff with them for my upper body.
Time to get out of the chair on onto the bike then into the shower.
:bigsmile:0 -
My daughter Alice did not make it out today. she had to work all day yesterday and needed some rest.
my other daughter Kathy is surpose to get moved into their new house out in the country Next weeekend so we will be going out there. And I mean it is in the country, the nearest store which is asmall is 7 miles from her. Then it is 12 miles to a Walmart and larger stores. So just them and their longhorn cattle and all thier dogs. One of the female just had puppies 7 of them. Any one wont a cattle hearding dog? They have 6 other dogs all the same breed. She plans on getting some baby ducks. I think it is about 45 minuets away from us East of us. And Alice is 45 minuets west of us.
Both her and her dh still work here so they will have a long drive everyday..thank goodness gas came down some. We are to have Easter out there.
Jerry and I done nothing today. Just rested and watch TV. Gonna eat out of freezer tonight..Better get up and do something. See you later Guys
Marie0 -
Sure was good to hear all the updates on family and pets.
Did my elipitical this morning, then did some organizing in my laundry room. Went to my step son's house for dinner and played a little Wii. Came home, had a video call with my son who lives in Portland, Oregon and now I am going to chill out and watch some TV.
Talk to everyone tomorrow, have a good evening and a better tomorrow.
Sandy0 -
Good evening....I did not do anything today....Just watched the race....
I do not exercise on Sunday...only because I exercise Monday thru Saturday....My old body needs a day off..
I did talk to my daughter in Beaverton, Oregon....She is having sleepless nights due to my granddaugher's new hamster...seems like the little thing has his days and nights mixed up..
My roast in the crock pot was very good...I used BBQ sauce and onions in the pot with the roast....House smelled really good...
Hope everyone had a very blessed Sunday......:flowerforyou:0 -

I was going to go to Target this morning...but since I have to have my CT Scan at 8am tomorrow morning..I will go after I am finished with that.....So today I will just putter around the house...
Have a good Monday everyone...:flowerforyou:0 -
Got back from Dallas. got my brace order, will pick it up Friday morning. my insurance will pay all but 11 dollors on it and she says it will make me feel full all the time and be sure to remember to eat for I wont be hungry. That will be the day. But I hope so. She said it work like a corset. I have an old brace that I got when I fracture my tailbone. But it was the most horrible thing. But this one is more stremlined should be better.
Have a nice day----Marie0 -
 :flowerforyou: BigGramma
I'll be thinking good thoughts for you tomorrow when you get your CT scan.
:flowerforyou:  Marie---Your new back brace sounds like it could be the ticket to better things.
It rained last night and washed the snow away. We got our car back from the shop so the dogs will get to go to the dog park again.
I'm getting to like the new exercise bike better and better. My legs that can walk or line dance for hours are being seriously challenged by the bike. I am doing weight loss level 1 and feel wiped out at the end. I'll keep at it until it feels comfortable. I'm determined to meet the challenge.
good luck to all on your challenges. We can do it one day at a time.:flowerforyou:

Good Evening everyone.
Hope your back brace gives you some relief Marie and lets you walk easier. :flowerforyou:
We had a little snow last night, but my son came and shoveled for us and the sun did the rest.
Biggamma, my son lives right near Beaverton, such a small world. My son used to work at Intel and my daughter in law still does. Are you familiar with the area? Good luck with you cat scan tomorrow.
Barb, sounds like you are doing great and committing to your goals.
I am on track and have decided to boast it up a bit to see if I can lose a little more weight, I am at a standstill. :frown:0 -

:flowerforyou:  Our exercise bike is a Nordic Track C2si My husband researched different models online. I was a skeptic but now I like it. The seat was uncomfortable at first but after a few days it feels better. It is much more challenging than I expected even at the Level 1 weight loss level.
I still like walking best as an exercise.
I hope the back brace turns out great for you.  :flowerforyou:0 -
GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON
Well I went this morning and had the CT Scan....will get the results on the 17th....I know there is no change...but you know how doctors like to keep testing...guess they want to cover their butts in case somewhere down the line something happens...
I got sort of dizzy getting off of the table...never have before...but it did not last long..Guess I just got up to quick....usually I get up by myself so I take my time...this time the young man helped...got up faster...
Then I went to Target and the first thing I did was get some coffee to drink while I shopped....Had not had any yet.....It helped...
Now I just have to drink a lot today to wash the contrast/dye out of my system....:drinker: :drinker:
Did not really rain yesterday...just sort of spit a little.
Hope you all are having a terrific Tuesday.....:flowerforyou:0 -

Good evening, been gone all day. just getting on the pc. And now the phone call we just got was Jim's sister telling us that his dad had another heart attack and he is now back in the hospital. This time, they transferred him to the large hospital, and the doctors there tell us that his heart is too weak for a pacemaker now. So, it is just a matter of time, maybe days.
They hope he can come home tomorrow.
take care all, I've been reading the posts. Marie, I hope you will like the brace0 -
i everyone - I'm elli - i finally figured out where to find the group! I've been reading the posts - it'll take me awhile to get to know everyone!
I live in Colorado - where we're having a very strange winter - it was 74 today........I'm kind of holding my breath waiting for a big snowstorm to hit - the east sure is getting slammed. And snow in Georgia!!!!
I'm kind of a work out nut - i try to go to the gym 3 times a week, do hot yoga once or twice and then walk on the days i don't get to do anything else. Today i didn't do a thing so i'm feeling fat! I'm renovating my house and after i helped one of my sons I had wood stripping to work on.........Anyway - i'm happy to be in the group - looking forward to getting to know you all! elli0 -
Welcome Elli, hope you enjoy our posts, motivation and support we all give to each other.
Biggamma glad your cat scan went well and I agree, getting up too fast can make us all dizzy, especially since you hadn't eaten.
PJ, sorry to hear about Jim's dad, I hope he is not in any pain and can die comfortably at home. :brokenheart:
I took a day for myself today and went to a casino. Played some Let it Ride and Three Card Poker,
I came home a winner, so it was a good day. It is my birthday next week and I can't go that day , so I went today. I don't go very often, so it was a big treat.
I didn't eat well and didn't exercise today, but will get back on track tomorrow.
Have a good evening. :happy:0 -
:flowerforyou:  Welcome Elli, I'm glad you joined the group. I admire your exercise routine. I line dance three days a week, walk my dogs on the hill at least once a day and take them to the dog park where they run and I walk for 20-40 minutes about 4 days a week. We just bought a Nordic Track exercise bike and I'm getting to like it a lot.
Keep in touch. MFP has been great for me. There's a lot of support and encouragement.:bigsmile:0 -
Good morning all you lovely people.
I wonder what happen to Jeffrey? Will send him a note by our mail today to see what's going on. Hope all is well at his household.
HEY A BIG WELCOME TO ELLI:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Welcome Elli....I hope you enjoy your journey here.
We may get some rain today.....had a good storm overnight...at least it was pouring when I woke up to go to the bathroom at 1:30am...it was all of that :drinker: :drinker: I was drinking to wash the dye out of my system.....We need so much more rain...the drought is very bad here.....
I hope you all are having a wonderful Wednesday...:flowerforyou:0 -
Hello Everyone!
Sorry I have not checked in! My wife has had a bad cold but is getting better now. I been cooking, cleaning, shopping and all that stuff, so I have been busy. I have kept up with my workouts and am doing fine.
Looks like my oldest daughter is getting her contract to teach next year so that is a good thing. The youngest is going to see her over spring break. They are best friends. That really pleases me. Work has been very busy, tax season.
I am going to speak to a youth weight loss class next Monday about my weight loss and the journey. That should be fun. The parents will be there too. It is through one of the area hospitals. The weather here is finally improving some, but not quick enough for me! We may go to the casino on Sunday. We have some comps built up so it will be a cheap trip. I hope to get a little outside work done on Saturday, weather permitting.
Glad to see you new folks here, please make yourself at home!
Take care one and all!
Jeffrey0
