Had my 39 (almost 40) week appt today. Got sent to triage because of my BP. Had an NST, he was doing good and BP leveled off. Still elevated but at my baseline. Almost got induced today but thankfully they didn't. Scheduled an induction at 41 weeks on the 16th hopefully he comes out on his own. My husband starts his leave today so he will be making the 12 hr drive from Ft. Campbell to here (instead of me calling him while I am in labor) so that is pretty good. If I go into labor this week he will be there, and will also be there for my induction so win win kinda of. Long day. Was in the hospital for 5 hrs. Will catch up with you guys later!

Just wondering for those non 1st time mommies, when the weight gain slows down. I've read you gain the most weeks 20- 30 but not sure how accurate that is... I'm at 32 weeks, and read the babies length wont get much longer but will now gain fat on itself... Just curious what others experiences have been!

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say a quick hi and let you know that Ellie and I are doing great. We got home yesterday afternoon and she is settling in very well. My pain level is fairly low, although the getting around is pretty slow right now. Our home office is downstairs and I've pretty much been sticking closer to Ellie's room, which is upstairs. This is my first trip downstairs all day!

For those of you considering breast feeding, I highly recommend doing it. The beginning is very challenging, but it's pretty special once the two of you get it figured out.

I'll try to get back in a couple days.

Hi everyone! I just found out I'm pregnant and would like to have a healthier pregnancy this time round. I gained 40 pounds with baby #1, just got back down to my pp weight (I have a Feb2011 baby), and would like to maintain throughout the 1st trimester. I had gestational diabetes the first time round and am hoping to avoid it this time.
  • Just found out that I am preggo!!! I calculated my due date to be May 2012...

Still wanting to keep up on my running while pregnant!!! Staying fit and healthy while pregnant is my main stay.

Hi Ladies! Congrats to Holly- glad both of you are doing well!

Hmmm, baby showers- I have one planned 4 weeks before my due date, which is making me nervous, as it's so close to the due date and I worry about if the baby's early.... I think 2 months before the due date sounds like great timing- you'll still be "small enough" to set up things and put everything away, plus have the energy!

Hoping to breastfeed, but almost all of my friends/family who've done it have had issues, so we'll see how it goes!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

    Welcome new peeps!

I had a nice weekend and maybe I am finally getting that second trimester energy everyone talks about! We had a pretty full weekend - work party, baby shower, painting, cleaning, grill out at our place, and I was up late and up early and still managed to be productive and get a lot done instead of just laying around like I tend to do on weekends. My parents are coming Thursday so I did some cleaning and rearranging and even painted MORE TRIM in the basement. I think my work down there is done so my husband can finish the outstanding projects now. What a relief. The weather was great so I walked to and around the farmers market Saturday and read outside a lot. I typically am not "working out" on weekends unless it's walking to the coffee shop, farmers market, walking my dog or doing stuff around the house. I think I'm okay with that.

I'm feeling more movement from the baby. When I was laying down reading last night I was feeling around on my bellly and actually felt something move from the surface. It was weird and amazing.

I'm going to try to get to the gym twice this week but a friend and her daughter are coming for dinner tomorrow and I have cleaning to do to prepare for my parents so we'll see. Plus the weather is suppposed to be great which tends to make me come home. Maybe I'll get a run in this week.

Better get to work. Hope you all have a great week!

Here's a question for Monday - what types of exercise do you get in on weekends? Like I said I rarely go to the gym, but typically I always walk. Usually we walk to the coffee shop Saturday and/or Sunday which is about 25 or so minutes round trip. Lately we've been doing stuff around the house - painting, cleaning, etc. so I'm getting some burn in there too.

    Hi Ashley,

I am just trying to kick-start my fitness (better late than never). Tomorrow I am starting prenatal yoga, and I am going on vacation on friday - so I actually hope to work in at least 30 mins of walking daily! Otherwise - swimming is always great, if you have access to a pool.

Let me know what you try!

Khrys1- love attending babyshowers. As a matter went to one this weekend. Had a blast!! I'm sure all will go well for yours

Holly- Although I'm sure your ready for a change of scenery from the upstairs, be sure to be careful! Don't over due anything. We'll still be here  Glad is well with you and the baby

Atynk- not sure since I'm a first time mom but the weight continues to melt off instead of stay on...Not sure how the doc is going to feel about this...LOL...Mind you I'm still eating everything in sight

Lexi- Good Grief, get some rest you definitely need it!!

    Gisele- Welcome!!

Million of Peaches- Welcome!! I hope that you are able to continue your workout routine, I had to drop mine- I am just way to sleepy and tired to do anything!! Can't wait for the 2nd tri mester energy boost everyone keeps talking about!

    Bzbear2- Welcome!!

Beter Balance- I'm so jelous of your new burst of energy! LOL....I had a jam packed Saturday and still had to stop and take and hour nap in the middle of hte day so I could continue through the evening. I hope you are able to do everything you are wanting to do and then some

    QUESTION::

These cramps, holy cow, are they really suppose to hurt that bad? :noway: I had some late Saturday night (and I think it was because I may have overdone it throughout the day) that left me weak, breathless and in tears. Which makes me wonder: if those were cramps then what does labor pain feel like? All joking aside: the more I tried to take small breathes the more intense the pain got. It started at the bottom and it traveled up the right side...Yowzers!

I'm thinking of mentioning it to the doctor- Suggestions??

Hi all :o) Welcome to the new joiners!
Had a really great weekend filled with family time and QT with my husband, it was really nice, but always too short!
Super crazy weather change here...we went from being in the 30s to it being only +4 this morning! I have to admit I am NOT complaining about the cooler temps that's for sure  I'm also feeling more energetic myself - I think the first trimester fatigue is starting to leave me!
I have a workout tonight with my mom & my personal trainer & I'm really looking forward to it, it will be nice to do some weights
I'm going to try to get to a yoga class this week as well and just keep up with walking and yoga at home.
My stomach hasn't been doing so great lately so I think I'm going to have to start paying attention to my food allergies and remove the things that I know make me feel sick...seems simple but not so much when bread and eggs are super cravings right now! lol

Lexi - thinking of you and hoping all goes well! Can't wait to hear about the arrival of your little one!
Holly - so glad to hear you and Ellie are doing so well :)

Babeed: yes mention them to your doctor. Hope they slow down on you.

Rayna: Hope your tummy feels better.

Holly: thanks for the update, glad to hear your both doing great.

Ashley: Usually my weekends are full of walking around the store or this weekend we walked in the casino if that counts. lol

Hello to all of my wonderful pregnant friends!

Welcome to all the newbies! Jump right in!

Gonna make this as short as possible and I will come back and make other comments later...

The couple shower/party was a HUGE success! I was exhausted before the day even started though because Friday I spent most of the day doing cleaning up stuff and I did a 5 mile hike and an hour of toning (I highly recommend NOT overdoing it when you have a full packed weekend ahead of you...lesson learned!). Then Friday night I woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep cause all I kept thinking about was everything that needed to get done. My mom and mother-in-law were coming over to help me at 730am but I knew I'd have to direct everything and do a lot of the work as well. So I started the day off literally physically drained...then my grandparents who told me they couldn't make it due to my grandpa's health rang my doorbell at 730am and surprised me! So we spent several hours just visiting and having breakfast all together (which was absolutely wonderful but put us back on setting up by a few hours). So I was on overdrive and running on adrenaline getting everything set up. The decorations came out absolutely perfect!
The party started at 5pm and by that time I was excited but my body was so worn out. I pushed through and by midnight after most people had left except a select few I told my husband I HAD to go to bed. So he helped me to bed and stayed up to entertain the last few friends/family that were there. At 2:09am I got a call saying that my brother was in the Emergency Room and I needed to come down there. He had left my party and had gone to another party where he was in a fight with 7 other men. He got pretty badly injured to say the least. So I was sitting with him holding his hand until a little after 4am when my dad finally made it and took over. As I sat there I kept having contractions and was so scared I was going to go into labor... I came home and couldn't get the picture out of my head of what had just happened. So needless to say all day yesterday I was in a daze of pure emotional and physical exhaustion just trying to rest and drink lots of water so I didn't end up in the hospital as well. My brother is fine...just a ton of stitches and a broken ego. I am still emotionally and physically drained today though. It is 90* outside or else I'd go for a long walk to clear my head. I'm thinking I might go to the gym and do some elliptical and treadmill to get a change of scenery and to try and workout some of this mess in my head.
What had been the most perfect day turned into a pretty traumatic weekend...But today is a new day and I'm trying to deal with everything and take care of myself. I will have quite the story to tell Charlee when she gets older about the weekend of her babyshower that's for sure! lol

Just wanted to say to Kristy that you are in my thoughts and prayers about Eric having to deploy. I'm your sister military wife and know how daunting this can be. I'm right there with you! Let us know as soon as you can what is going to happen. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers in the meanwhile!

To everyone else, I will post again. You are not forgotten. :)

    Hi Ladies,

Enjoyed playing catch-up on this thread (as always).

Tomorrow's the big day. Doesn't look like I'm going to go into labour any time soon... so c-section will be happening tomorrow morning around 11 am. Next time you hear from me I'll be a mother of two. Crazy exciting!

I'm so ready to meet our baby. Husband and I still don't have a strong feeling about baby names for boy or girl, so although I may post the news, the baby may still remain nameless until we're sure! Haha!

Take care Fit 'n Fab Mamas. I'll be in touch!

Emily - my workouts vary quite a bit. I used to run at least a couple times a week but have backed off, mostly b/c its been so hot this summer. I also used to do power yoga weekly and swam occassionally and tried to get 2 days of strength in. Elliptical usually made it in there once a week too. Since I've been prego I honestly haven't been keeping up with 5 days at the gym a week. If I do go, I typically get a long (mile) swim in and try to do strength another day. I have been slacking in that department though. I've been coming home more and just walking my dog during the week. I also quit doing my yoga class at the advice of my instructor b/c it was pretty difficult (head stands, lots of inversions and stuff on stomach) and have yet to do yoga since. I really miss it, but I am leery to go to his easier class b/c I'm afraid with all the modifications I won't be able to do anything. Any others go to "regular" yoga? I need to get a pre-natal video I guess. ANyways, aside from swimming and walking, I try to run intervals but just haven't been doing it much either. A lot of effort has been in getting our newish house in order and finishing our basement and I learned that if I work out and try to paint, clean, etc. I totally wear out.

Babeed - I have had some cramping, but not to bring me to tears. Mostly feels like period cramps. However mine were never bad. I would ask your dr. I had some strange crapming last week. It was more intense shooting pain but after a bit, they stopped. Other than that, I've had little pain or crapming. Except my lower back, that's another issue.

Rayna - hope you stomach feels better. Thanks also for the previous post about public health. It was very interesting to hear.

    Lunarokra - Casino! Fun!

Heather - I'm glad to hear your party went so well! Sounds lovely. You are a trooper for doing all the decorating, etc. I plan on simply showing up at mine already decorated and food prepared. You'll have to post pics. I learned the hard way to not work out hard on days there is a lot going on. I have totally had to change my mentaility to back off b/c I know I need rest and I can't do it all. And that's terrible about your brother! I'm glad he's okay. And I'm glad you didn't have any major contractions. I would suggest taking it easy today. Blow off working out and REST! It's OK to be totally lazy every once in a while. Just think, in a couple months you won't be able to do that even if you want.

Amy - How exciting! I'll be thinking of you. I hope all goes well with the C-section!

I think I may take a walk around downtown during the rest of lunch. It's so nice out. The weather is supposed to be highs in the low 80's and then into 60's and 70's the rest of the week and weekend with plenty of sunshine! It almost seems fall has come early.

OMG! Heather, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother! You had tons of ups and downs this past weekend and I'm just glad for you that it's over and you can move forward. My cousin got beat up pretty badly a few years back and now can't see out of one eye so I know how tramatic that stuff can be. Man, I'm just glad he's okay. Glad your grandpa is okay too. If you end up going to the gym, please take it easy! (Of course, you know that. lol)

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. Eric found out from the chief over the IA department (individual augmentee, for those of you that don't know) that he is 90% safe from going on this deployment. We are thrilled about that, however he is still at the top of the list if another one pops up, which could very well happen because it's been pretty common lately. He's thinking about putting in paperwork to leave shore duty a year early and go back sea duty. That means he will definitely deploy, but I'm okay with a 6 month deployment if he doesn't have to do a 12 month one. The sea duty deployment schedule for his job is: gone for 6 months, home for 12, and so on for the length of the orders at whatever command. We're looking at either Hawaii or going back to Whidbey Island, Washington. I'm okay with either, but am leaning more towards Washington since I have tons of close friends there. Hawaii would be nice for a few years while the baby is little though and we do have a few friends there. My previous employer manages military housing in both places so I can get a good job at either place. It's a lot ot think about, but I think he'll probably end up leaving shore duty early. What good is shore duty if you're faced with 12 month deployments all the time? Ya know? Please keep praying though that all of this works out for the best. I'm trying to put it all in God's hands and just trust Him to take care of it all.

You ladies are wonderful and so encouraging! :)

As far as baby and me, I'm feeling okay. Hungry today, but good. I felt kind of queasy around 8pm last night. My back is sore today too, which kind of stinks, but I'm trying to work on my posture in hopes that will help. I got my first maternity clothes from friends this weekend. :) I bought some ($5/each) from a friend and another friend just gave me some. I also got a nice maternity jacket and shirt from Isabella Oliver (awesome, but WAY overpriced!) for my birthday from my mother-in-law. I can't believe she spent that much on something I'll only be able to wear for a few months, but whatever I guess. lol I'm actually wearing a pair of maternity khakis today, but they have the small waist band so they don't really look maternity. I love the stretch on the waist band. None of my work pants stretch in the waist and were starting to get a bit uncomfortable at times.

    Have a great Monday!

Sounds like everyone had busy weekends once again.

Welcome to the newest preggo's on the board!!!

911Girl - Good Luck!!!!! Can't wait to hear the results! Hope all goes well for you.

Heather - Geeze, sounds like a crazy weekend for you. Hope you can get out and clear your head a little. Also, hope you can find some time to rest and catch up on some sleep. Sounds like sleep was very limited for you. Glad your party went well though.

Ashley - As far as exercise on the weekends.....were always so busy doing something I don't plan extra exercise on Sat and Sun. Usually cleaning house, doing yard work and attending any events we do, is usually enough exercise for me.

OK, so tonight is the night! I'm doing yoga!!!!! My husband leaves today so everynight for the next week or two should just be simple dinners, and lots of time to myself after my son goes to bed, which means YOGA!!!! I am also getting my treadmil back from my parents, now that we have a big enough house to put it in.....I can't wait!!!!!

This weekend for me was pretty good. Got lots of laundry cleaning grocery shopping done on Friday, and Sat. was at my son's football Jamboree ALL DAY!!! It was 111 degrees which was miserable, but we made it through it. I did get a heat rash all over my stomach, shoulders and arms though. It was gone by Sunday though. Yesterday was the first day I actually rested, in I don't know how long. It was so nice. The boys went to a family members house to watch football in the morning, and I layed around watching lifetime movies, then in the afternoon we went to lunch and they went four wheeler riding, and I took a nap!! I feel so great today! Yesterday was a good day!!! All rested up for a BUSY week! Work will be crazy! My son has two football games too. At least these ones are in the evening and it won't be so HOT! Counting down to my u/s! 3 weeks!!!!

Welcome to all the new hot mamas!

Holy, thanks for the update, glad you and the baby doing well.

I went camping over the weekend. The weathermen said it have 40% rain/storm, and they are so wrong! The weather is beautiful and we had a great time. Sleeping is a bit hard for me, we don't use air mattress, just a thin mat. It's pretty hard to sleep on, especially I cannot sleep on my back any more. One side of my hips gets painful. Hopefully it'll get better soon.

Got a very busy a couple of weeks ahead of me. My parents are coming for a week, with my 3 year old nephew. Then my sister will be here for a weekend. Need to clean up the guess room and hubby got to finish painting our son's new bedroom.

Good to see you all doing pretty well!

Ugg Monday, haha. At least it is almost over. Sounds like everyone had a pretty eventful Monday.

    Welcome newcomers!

Heather : sorry about your brother. That is not the way to spend the end of your baby shower. At least he was ok. I can’t wait to see pictures of the shower. I bet it was adorable.

Lexi and Amy: hang in there you are so close. Remember your due date is really a guess date. Baby will come out when they are good and ready, haha. Amy good luck tomorrow what a big day!

Holly: Take care of you and baby. Can’t wait to see pictures. Out of curiosity how much weight did you lose after just giving birth?

Khrys1: 4 weeks should hopefully be ok. I think this is your first and I’ve read usually your 1st tends to come late. But you just never know.

Bzbear2: Wow, Germany! What brought you there? What's the healthcare like?

Ashley: The first big kick is so awesome. I love when you can see your stomach move. It’s like wow there really is a living person in there. On the weekend I do a lot of cleaning and walking the dog . Starting this Sunday I’m going to start doing a Zumba class on Sunday.

Babeed845: I hope the cramps go away. I would definitely tell your doc at least at your next appointment. But let them know sooner if they keep up.

Rayna: Have fun tonight! I think I’m going to do a personal trainer once a week after I give birth to help me have someone there for me to be accountable and who will kick my butt.

Lunarokra: It is crazy to imagine we will all be carrying around little ones soon. I still can’t believe it.

kristy_estes21: I hope everything works out with the hubby. I give you military wives so much credit. You are all so strong!

Mistibergman: Good luck with your busy week. Definitely take some time for yourself with your yoga. Great for mind and body:0)

Atomdraco: Wow, you go girl. I camped while pregnant too but had an air mattress. We had to sleep the first night in the car because our air pump broke. There was no way I was sleeping on the ground. Glad you had fun.

AFM: Had a nice relaxing weekend. Finally caught up on all the laundry in the house I just have to put it away tonight. I’m getting excited for my shower which is coming really soon, Oct 1. More than anything I am so excited to see friends and family. My best friend set up the whole shower and is having it at my parents. We are going to have a big slumber party afterwards. I will probably be the first to fall asleep, hehe.

Hope everyone finishes out the day on a high note. I’m going to watch the season finale of Design Star on my treadmill tonight. Go Karl!

Hi, ladies, good to catch up with everyone by reading through all the post. Was in Chicago the past several days and so fell way behind on my MFP forums!

Good luck on the delivery tomorrow, Amy, so thrilling; I hope everything goes well! We'll look forward to seeing some new baby pics soon!

Tomorrow is my first OB appointment. I'm hoping it is a reassuring visit - there will be an ultrasound so they can check that there is a baby in there and everything looks okay. Part of me worries they'll find an octopus growing in there or something horrible - how crazy! This is my second time around - we have a 3 yo daughter - so I'm a little more relaxed, but it's still very hard to deal with all the uncertainty associated with pregnancy, especially so early when there aren't as many physical signs of the baby. I'm going to try to just hope for the best.

Hi all my fit, fabulous pregnant friends. Welcome to all the newcomers, you've found an awesome group of very supportive women.

Thank you to everyone for sending your good thoughts for us. I cannot wait for the rest of you to join me in the fit, fabulous, mom club.

Wanted to let you know Ellie and I are doing great. We had our postpartum visit today, Ellie has gained 5oz since our discharge on Friday! Needless to say they have no worries about whether or not she's getting enough to eat! All my vitals look good and incision is healing nicely. Unfortunately, I am still quite edematous (which is totally normal) from the surgery. It may still be another two weeks or so before that subsides. I'm only five days into my six week "no activity" time and I can tell you it is going to be SO HARD. I'm already feeling stir crazy, but my doctor is a self described hard *kitten* and wants me to heal. Plus I think she knows if she gave me the leash, I'd be back out the door running!

Heather, I am so sorry to hear about the stressful weekend. Glad it had some good high moments and happy to hear that your brother is okay. Please take care of yourself and Charlee.

Nichole, HA! funny question to ask and not a good one for someone who ended up with a c-section. Your body swells so much from the surgical trauma and all the fluids they pump into you. I actually weighed more upon returning home than I did before I delivered! I am down 13 pounds today(from pregnancy high weight), but still have lots of edema so I know that much of my weight is still fluid.

Amy, so excited to hear from you after the birth of your little one! As I said before, looking forward to moaning, groaning and recovering with you ;-) We'll have to work to keep each other sane.

Lexi, thinking of you. Looking forward to your exciting news too.

Hugs to everyone else. I enjoy trying to keep up with all your reports when I can, but someone is now calling for my attention :-)

    Holly
hmm...can anyone tell me how to remove my ticker?

First, WELCOME to all the new comers! This board is great and is a HUGE inspiration!

Heather ~ I'm glad that the shower went so well. So So So Sorry to hear about your brother. Take care of Charlee (not that you don't already) and take a day or two to just rest. I'm sure both of you need it.

Ashley ~ For me, I usually get in whatever exercise I can. I've been so beat up and exhausted that it's only been 30 min dog walks around the neighborhood. But I also don't count the housework which is surprisingly tiring now a days.

Babeed ~ I haven't really had any cramps per say, just a general tight feeling where the baby is. I am starting to feel the round ligament pain though. Hubby will laugh at me when I'm standing there talking to him or someone else and suddenly just bend over with my hand on my abdomen going "Ouch!". But it's usually always gone after a few seconds. I would just call and talk to your OB though, just to be on the safe side.

Amy ~ Can't wait to hear what name you finally decide on. My hubby won't even let me start tossing ideas around until we know the sex of our little one. Good Luck with the C-section tomorrow!

Kristy ~ I'm a Military wife as well. Deployments are hard enough to handle without adding pregnancy. I don't know what I would do if Aaron deployed right now. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and Eric. I went maternity clothes shopping over labor day weekend at Motherhood. What should have cost me $143 only cost me $54. Walked away with 4 shirts (2 really nice dressy shirts for any office functions, and 2 just regular out and about shirts) and a really nice heavy sweater. I'm a SAHW so I mostly just laze around the house in sweats and PJ pants.

Misti ~ I was thinking of trying Yoga, but I'm so unflexable, I'm afraid of falling on my *kitten*. LOL. I've had so many people suggest it though cause my hips are starting to hurt. Glad you got some rest in!

Atomdraco ~ you are so brave for camping right now. I can't even get comfortable in my bed, I hate to imagine trying to sleeping in just a sleeping bag and mat.

Nkster ~ for me it seems like I get caught up on laundry, dishes and stuff like that. Then my husband comes home from work and I'm stuck with a huge mess that just comes out of nowhere!

MadBabysMama ~ Good luck at your appointment! I'm always a nervous wreck right before each of mine. Then I end up breaking down and crying every time I hear that little heartbeat racing away.

Holly ~ So glad you and Ellie are doing great! Removing the ticker is really easy. Under the community tab, up where all those little arrows are that have home, recent posts, my topics, etc. Click on Signature, then just highlight the text in the box and delete it.

As for me, well.. it's been an interesting week. I'm Almost at the end of my first trimester, close enough for me to kinda fudge the last few days and say I am. LOL. I'm starting to get some of my energy back. I have a few days of great energy where I can do alot and only feel mildly tired, then I have a few days of not being able to move up off the couch again. Although yesterday I was nauseous for the first time in a month. I've started taking the dog for walks again, 2 30 min walks a day. It's getting a lot colder and more rainy up here and I'm sure in another month, month and a half it'll start snowing. I plan on pestering my hubby into taking me to the gym with him when he can so I can start easing back into the elliptical. I don't plan on busting *kitten* on it or anything, just get a little bit more of a burn than walking is giving me. I've already talked to my OB about it and she's all up for it because I was doing the elliptical before I found out I was preggo.

I also had to adjust my calories a bit this last week. I noticed I was gaining a little bit more than I was supposed to. But then again my weight has been up and down like crazy the last 2 months. I was in the process of losing weight before I got pregnant, and had dropped from 265ish (was too afraid of the scale, but I know that's what I was almost a year ago for last Halloween) down to 225-226 when I got preggo. Now my weight will jump up to 230-231 then back down to 227-228ish (which is where I am right now, 228.4 as of this morning). It's crazy and it's driving me nuts. I don't weigh myself everyday, I only do it every 4-5 days, so it's not the day to day weight changes.

    ~Cindy

Edit ~ also figured I should become more involved instead of just doing the once and a while post. LOL

Hope I didn't offend you with this question. I'm more just curious about how much weight is baby and birth stuff. I know it's different for everyone. Hopefully the 6 weeks goes fast for you. I'm sure you'll be back in shape before most of us even have our babies:happy:

Cindy: My weight has been all over. It can range from 4 lbs day to day. I think it's because it takes your body longer to digest food. The last week I've really been able to renew my efforts in eating better and logging all my food and getting in some workouts. I'm 26 weeks now and want to make sure to gain the healthy amount. I feel great. My rewards to myself now are naps, hehe... Great job on the weight loss pre-pregnancy! Your doing awesome:smile:

Exercise last week didn't quite go as planned. Walked 30 min on Tuesday and swam 25 minutes plus walked 10 on wednesday, but by Thurs I hurt so much (hips, ligaments/tendons in inner thighs, etc) that I didn't do anything, then lasted only 10 minutes of walking Friday. By the time I got home from school on friday I was so sore that I was almost in tears!

So my goal from now through the end is going to be to do what I can and not overdo it. Which I started out on today by taking my kids to the state fair and walking (waddling?) around for nearly 3 hours! But it was slow, and I sat when I could, so it didn't feel like too much until we were heading back out to the parking lot. We'll see how tomorrow feels. (Part of me was hoping this trip would get things started, but no luck yet, 3 hours after).

3 weeks to go, or so...

    .

Bzbear2: Wow, Germany! What brought you there? What's the healthcare like?

I did a scholarship program after graduating and met my husband and.. well I guess the rest is history :) I have been here for 6 years and I love it.

The healthcare is great - I have been really happy so far. The only disappointment is that I have to pay for my gestational diabetes screening (next appt, eek) out of pocket - but it only cost 24 euros so that's not too bad.

Otherwise, I have been pleased with:

    - completely covered monthly prenatal visits (with u/s every time) (starting every 3 weeks after 28 weeks.. then 2... then 1...)
    - beautiful hospital facilities - the one we're looking at actually has a PETTING ZOO!
    - all births are midwife accompanied
    - post-birth midwife home visits - 10 visits are covered by insurance
    - my prenatal yoga class, that I'm starting today, is covered 50% by my insurance
    - birth prep class is covered completely by insurance

Also, maternity leave is great here. There is mandatory 6 weeks before/8 weeks after birth "work ban" with full salary - and after that up to 14 months of leave with 65% of salary (and they will hold your job for up to 3 years).

Has anyone else had any experience with prenatal yoga? I am really curious what my class will be like today - I am looking forward to meeting other pregnant women.

I am loving all the baby kicking I am feeling here. It's such a reassurance - like a little "hello, I'm in here!"

I rented a doppler so we can hear the baby's heart beat and was able to use it yesterday. I found the heart beat in less than 30 seconds and it's so cool!!!! I had to calculate the bpm myself and I think it's between 150-160. I'm addicted to that thing now. I could just sit and listen to it all day long. :) I rented it mainly because I don't know if/when my doctor will let us hear the heart beat. At my first appointment (a little over 9 weeks) she said their machine didn't have the capability. I only rented it for a month.

hmm...can anyone tell me how to remove my ticker?

    * If you look up at the top you will see HOME, RECENT POSTS, MY TOPICS, SIGNATURE & SEARCH
    * Go to SIGNATURE and that should populate a box where you added your ticker. Highlight the formula and delete.
    * You should be set!

@kristy - we have a doppler too! I have an anterior placenta so we don't hear the heartbeat much, but we listen to fetal movements all the time. My husband especially loves it - we bought ours for 35 dollars - not too bad.
