Hi Ladies!
I can't believe I missed the start of this last week - but hopefully you don't mind if I tag along now!! I love love LOVE Jillian (if there was a video of me doing her vids you may not get this impression from the amount of swearing I do at her, but at least I swear and carry on!)
I'll fill in the introduction thingy too so you guys know where I'm coming from

What is your favorite JM Workout (be specific if the video has more than one level!): NMTZ!!!!!! Although BFBM feels awesome when you're finished

And I guess under the discussion topic - it's my wedding that motivating me to be the best person I can be going into that day and the start of the rest of my life!! (And after reading the posts above it seems that you guys had this motivation too! I'm glad to see that you managed to meet your goals, and it's awesome to hear about your married lives!)

. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week?
I felt great until the weekend I decided working out 7 days a week isnt the best and needed a rest day well 1 rest day turned into 3!! Plus I ate out alot on weekends which is usual but calories seemed worse this weekend than most.
2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (no elevators) or if you had your own modified challenge how did you do with it?
No elevators to worry about and didn't factor any modifications but then i realized but i do this always anyway I park far from any buildings I go into but not so I can walk more so I don't have to deal with the lazy people fighting for close parking and besides when I'm entering the building they are barely parking
3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again?
Have to be the non exercise weekend I took, plan to do better this weekend
4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week?
Maybe the fact I did 30ds lvl 1 and 2 back to back just never did it knew I could but never tried it before.
5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened)
Didn't really have one unless you count I tried and finished my plate of Chinese food, I really don't like it but went out on a limb and gave it another shot and enjoyed my food on that outing.
6. Tell us something interesting about yourself! I find it hard to not multitask when on the computer i will watch a movie whether on subtitled or not while playing games on fb and checking in on mfp Yes I have 2 computer monitors and a tv beside me so each screen is always on :P
Week of 9/11 Fitness Challenge: At least once every day this week, find an opportunity to incorporate fitness into your daily routine. This can be something as simple as jogging in place while blow drying your hair, doing jumping jacks during commercial breaks, or doing leg raises under your desk at work. Please share your accomplishments with the team during the week so we can use each others ideas to be more active during our days!
Week of 9/11 Discussion Topic: What inspired you to change your life and join MFP to become healthier? Well ultimately my ex coming back into my life started me on my journey and after losing 30 lbs or so I moved in with him and gained some back due to less exercise mostly. Someone recommended this site and said it was better than hand writing calories which is what I did and that part was working fine just i was eating more than I needed to. So I joined around May and I love it except realizing it has been 4 months of consistent exercise and better eating with only 6 lbs gone I know I have my bad days and I guess I havent found my niche yet. ( But in all fairness I also visited my family for a month which my eating was worse at that time)0 -
I hope it's not to late to join, I'm a Jillian Michaels stalker

Age: 32

**A Little About Yourself**
What is your favorite JM Workout (be specific if the video has more than one level!): I just started the 30DS, so since i'm not that far in, right know my fave is Yoga Meltdown.
What is your favorite food: anything Italian or Mexican
What do you do for a living: Medicare Enrollment Specialist, awaiting acceptance into ADN program at local college
What is your favorite outdoor activity: biking, or just walking if the weather is right
How long have you been on MFP: 3ish weeks
What is your favorite Quote: JM "unless you puke, pass out or die, KEEP GOING"
What do you hope to get out of this group: motivation, inspiration and encouragement
Anything else you want to share?!: I'm a book lover, bowler and and getting the hang of this running for fun thing:)
1.Overall how do you feel about your progress last week? Didn't do so hot last week, but got back on the wagon on saturday (after 4days of just shopping, cleaning and lying around)
2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (no elevators) or if you had your own modified challenge how did you do with it? Didn't go into any 2story buildings (except the gym and i took the stairs), but I always try and park as far from the door of where ever i'm going as possible.
3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again? not working out for 4whole days (partly due to allergies and TOM) so this week i'm kicking it into overdrive with 30ds.
4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week?
managing to eat well and not gain any weight
5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened) sadly nothing to report on this topic:frown:
6. Tell us something interesting about yourself! let's see, I love to bake and last week I made homemade poptarts, courtesy of foodnetwork magazine, and they were awesome
Week of 9/11 Discussion Topic: What inspired you to change your life and join MFP to become healthier? I want to be around for a very long time to enjoy as much as possible with my boys. also, i find one piece bathing suits to be extremly uncomfortable (which made this years chicago trip a bit of a downer)..... so by next year i'll be able to chase my boys around the awesome parks of downtown chicago and rock it out on the beach (and hopefully do it every year after that, until age forces me into a mumu coverup:happy: )0 -
glad to see some new members joined! welcome and remember everyone - feel free to make suggestions to keep the group working well together! I was thinking I probably should have had a spot for everyone to put their weight loss from last week in this week's response. I'll make sure to do that with next week's post.
So I've been having some issues lately with committing so I've decided to do a couple of things to re-motivate myself. First, I changed my ticker to say "lbs to go" instead of lbs lost. I feel like I have been too "satisfied" with seeing my ticker show how much weight I lost and I've kind of lost sight of the fact that those lbs are gone (and never coming back!) so while it was nice to lose them, it should not be my focus anymore. Also, I was content with my weight at 128 lbs but I've been fluctuating a lot lately and more up than down so I've decided that I do need to get to 125. I don't think it will be easy but it will give me something to focus on. Secondly, I have started the 30 Day Shred again and for the first time ever I am going to actually DO IT in 30 DAYS and stick with it! And lastly, to help motivate me to actually stick with the 30 day shred, I have taken before pictures and I am really hoping to show some changes in my body in the after pictures. so here are my before's and in exactly 30 days (so October 12) I will be posting my afters! What I'm really hoping for is some more toning in my stomach. I've definitely gotten a little "flabby" since my wedding which is what no weight gain but no exercise will do to you (blah to skinny fat)... I also want to keep toning my arms but mainly I just want to be consistent about exercising again. I miss having that satisfaction.

haha so my husband saw me typing this and said "jeeze are you writing a novel?"... haha no I just apparently have nothing better to do now that I've finished my book... so anyway here goes :-)
@silversong – I bet carrying an infant does wonders for your arms! I always joke with my husband that I will have no problem carrying around our kids because I constantly carry around my 40 lb puggle. And I’m glad you’re doing the 30 DS now too! I just started today and I will be checking in with you to make sure you are doing it too! And I think it’s pretty cool you’re into games like that. One of my friends is really good at Xbox and I’m a bit jealous. My husband plays all the time and I wish I had the time or patience to play the games but I have no hand eye coordination.
@cutmd – It sounds like you had a really great week! Much better than some of the rest of us.. lol. How’d you meet your husband? Do you guys go visit Jamaica a lot? I wish we had an excuse to go somewhere fun ☺
@Allison – You crack me up because I feel like I could be reading my own post. I pretty much agree with exactly how you described your progress last week. And my brother lives with my husband and I but we don’t have an attic worth transforming into anything so he lives in my future baby room ☺ It’s awesome having the extra income though and seeing as I’ve lived with him pretty much my whole life it’s really not so bad. Plus my husband and him are like best friends (but he was MINE first! I didn’t steal my brother’s friend.. lol) And house projects DEFINITELY count as workouts! I refuse to pay anyone to do any work around the house that I can do myself so I’ve spent many weekends putting blood sweat and tears into it but it’s always SO worth it! And I mentioned in my original post that loose clothes are dangerous. The only thing I like about sweatpants now is wearing a wife beater tank top with them.. I always thought it was a sexy look but I couldn’t pull it off so this fall I’m totally rocking it when I don’t want to get dressed ☺
@Stephie – Welcome to the group! I enjoy swearing at JM too while I work out. My husband thinks it’s hilarious. But honestly it keeps me going to just say “Jillian you biiii*****”! Sounds like your wedding is coming up fast! I remember the last few months were a whirlwind and before I knew it it was the wedding day! Enjoy it all and remember not to sweat the little things! I’m glad we’ll be able to support you in your fitness goals leading up to the big day! Have you heard of the JM 30 Day Slimdown? I did that leading up to my wedding and it gave me some awesome results. It’s a combination of her 30 Day Shred, NMTZ and BFBM videos. Just google it and you’ll see the workout schedule.
@jrhstarlight – That’s awesome that you were able to do 30DS L1 and L2 back to back! I’ve only done two workouts in one day a couple of times. It’s always so hard to push yourself to do another one once you’ve finished the first! The 30 day slimdown I mentioned to Stephie has a day that they make you do two in one day. If you stick with your exercise and try to change just a few things in your diet at a time, you should see some results soon. I find that its best to try and underestimate your exercise calories and over estimate what you eat. I have a friend on here who wasn’t losing any weight because she was severely over estimating her calories burned (she had a bad heart rate monitor that was telling her a number much higher than the truth but since it was a heart rate monitor she believed it and ate the calories anyway). The weight will come off if you stick with it!
@Misty – Welcome! I bought Yoga Meltdown a couple of weeks ago but still haven’t tried it. Maybe I’ll work it in this weekend. I’ve def. heard good things. I just got a Kindle and am starting to read again. I used to read constantly when I was in college but then life got busy and I stopped. I love how convenient my Kindle is and I actually just finished reading “Pride and Prejudice” which I loved. Any good book recommendations? And homemade poptarts… yuummm!0 -

the best thing about amazon is that they will make reccomendations based on books you've purchased in the past, which is great. I'm reading Michael Prescott now, he's all about serial murderers and the Women who prevail. I also have the Twilight series and will be getting the Hunger Games series soon, my reading taste are all over the place:) Yoga meltdown is WICKED! the best things about her videos is there is no resting, you power through and it's worth it in the end:) and yes, those poptarts were yummy!0 -

What is your favorite JM Workout (be specific if the video has more than one level!): I'm on day 12 of the 30 Day Shred... I think I prefer level 1 (I hate planks... )
What is your favorite food: mmm what isn't? Pork Belly, Pizza, Buffalo wings, cheesecake... yuuumm
What do you do for a living: Admin/Sales for an Elevator Company
What is your favorite outdoor activity: Swimming and playing soccer
How long have you been on MFP: About a month and a half
What is your favorite Quote: "Nothing tastes as good as HEALTHY feels" -adaptation from Kate Moss
What do you hope to get out of this group: Motivation!
Anything else you want to share?!: I can't say no to a good challenge! Also, I live down under so I'm still trying to get my beach bod by December! lol
Week of 9/4 Fitness Challenge: Don't use any elevators! I work on the 5th floor of my building and just bought new heels so this should be interesting but it's also only a 3 day work week for me :-P (This may be a bit difficult for me since my job requires that I ride lifts! lol)
Week of 9/4 Discussion Topic: What do you think is going to tempt you the most this fall? How do you plan to deal with it? Well, it's Spring for me, but I'll still be tempted. Mostly by alcohol to be honest. My boyfriend is a wine making student and many of my friends are also studying wine, so I've become a bit of a wino by association. I plan to resist on occasion, but I also plan to let myself indulge occasionally while logging every last drop!0 -

Funny I am doing the slimdown now and only a few days left today I have to do lvl 2 and 1 back to back I have lost a little since doing it and trying to keep my calories in check which is the hard part. Hopefully the next one or two weeks I will see improvements0 -
I have been using MFP on my iPhone for the last 30 days, but only recently took the time to check out the actual website ... I LOVE JM!! I haven't really joined the whole MFP community yet ... I haven't commented on any posts, I haven't made any posts - but I'm intrigued by the idea of my own blog.
Anyway, can I still join in the fat-burning fun?!

What is your favorite JM Workout (be specific if the video has more than one level!): The first video I purchased was the 30 Day Shred. I have only gotten to level 2 (but probably need to start over at this point) -- and that was a couple of years ago. I also have No More Trouble Zones and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism -- I've tried both 1x but they kicked my *kitten* so hard I haven't had the courage to go back just yet. My current favorite is Yoga Meltdown -- it's a great way to start out the day...
What is your favorite food: Potatoes of any and all kinds
What do you do for a living: Magazine editor, which means that, yes, I sit at a computer all day long
What is your favorite outdoor activity: Snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking or walking with my dog
How long have you been on MFP: the phone app for 30 days, the actual web site for less than a week
What is your favorite Quote: JM says in yoga meltdown -- "Get comfortable being uncomfortable!"
What do you hope to get out of this group: I need a support system and people to hold me accountable since I can't have JM do it for me personally.
Anything else you want to share?!: I am looking to make a lifestyle change. I like to do workout videos at home, I like to walk my dog & take kickboxing classes at my gym. But I tend to get bored when I don't immediately see results. Six years ago I lost 30 lbs doing Atkins and I have to say that the fast weight loss from that program has made it hard for me to stick to programs that concentrate on losing weight the healthy way. You get FAST results on Atkins -- and ever since then I tend to lose motivation if the weight isn't coming off, or isn't coming off fast enough. I absolutely love JM and her videos are my favorite -- perhaps joining this group will give me the motivation to do them more regularly!0 -
@Shauna – Welcome to the group! I looovvee wine. Mainly because it makes me feel fantastic after only one glass ☺ I can’t imagine if my husband was a wine maker! That would be trouble! And I’ve heard the Kate Moss quote before, I like your adaptation though!
@Heather – I’m glad you joined us! I didn’t start using the website until about a month after I started using the phone app either and it was a bit longer after that before I really joined the “community” but I love it! I actually find myself on MFP more than facebook these days. The people are so nice and reading the forum’s can be really entertaining. I actually bought NMTZ first and I really thought it would kill me. Then I started getting her other DVD’s and before I knew it I was doing all of them, but still feeling like they were killing me. Honestly I don’t know if the “I’m going to die” feeling will ever go away and I’m kind of glad of that! It means it’s effective and I didn’t waste a minute of my time! I did increase my weights from 3 lb to 5 lb though which is the main contributor in the dying feeling.0 -
yay! i did Day 2 of 30 DS Level 1! Only 28 more days to go! (and once I get past Day 7 I'll have made it farther than ever before.. haha)0
-
Hooray on Day 2!!! You can definitely keep it up and make it past day 7
I didn't do any JM yesterday - I had a million and one things to do after work and never got round to it - LAME I KNOW!
But today is a new day, so I can pick it up again today I'm sure!
Hope you all have awesome days today, and awesome workouts
Steph x0 -
Don't feel bad Stephie, I missed yesterday too. Got the kids to school than drove an hour away for a boring meeting on a topic I could have learned just fine through email all day, than drove an hour home. Got back in time to pick up my work child, and then my children from school. The rest of the night was comprised of preparing food drill sergeant-ing my kids through homework and soccer LOL.... I plan on picking right back up this morning though0
-
Great job Gainskb! Keep it up and kick the pants off of it this time!! I am almost scared to try level 2 and 3 LOL.... I can keep up with level 1 now but man did it hurt the first few days. You got this.0
-
i'm in the same boat, I missed out on 30ds yesterday also, mostly because i woke up feeling phooey and couldn't shake it all day, went to bed early and am no prepping for my midmoring snack, hitting up jm in an hour and then just maybe the gym this afternoon, after all if i'm paying for it, might as well go and do a class or something:)
KEEP AT IT GIRLS, WE WILL DO THIS:happy:0 -
There's nothing like getting your health & fitness motivation sucked out of you by fever, chills & the overwelming need for sleep. I went to bed at 7:30 PM last night in hopes that I was just really tired. When I awoke this morning, I'm pretty sure that I'm coming down with something... :grumble:
I have put the JM 30DS exercise plans on hold (as I am traveling for work next week & want to be feeling better by then), but I am trying my best to fuel my body with healthy foods, and I'm drinking lots of tea & water.
Hoping to add some JM yoga back in over the weekend, if and only if, my head quits throbbing.0 -
Ha! Busted down Day #4 of 30DS... Yay me!!
Hope you feel better soon Me525 and Coffeegirl!0 -
Got my bm in gear and did day 3 level 1:) i'm back on track!0
-
Thanks Silversong -- And, great job on Day #4. Keep it up!
I'm jealous - I'd much rather be sore (and miserable) than sick (and miserable)!
ps. I'm wishing to workout  perhaps this group is already helping me!!!!0 -

**The Stats**
Name: Erica
Age: 33
Height: 5'4"
Highest Weight: ~155 lb
Current Weight: 141 lb
Goal Weight: 130 lb
**A Little About Yourself**
What is your favorite JM Workout: My first DVD will be here tomorrow: gonna start 30DS. But I'm no stranger to JM - love her!
What is your favorite food: Hmmmm, that's a toughie... Have to say 1" thick rare to med rare filet mignon
What do you do for a living: Mechanical Engineer at a biofuel R&D facility
What is your favorite outdoor activity: Mountain biking, hiking, sailing, soccer... Can't pick just one!
How long have you been on MFP: Um, think since January 2011.
What is your favorite Quote: Love JM's, "If you're not puking, passing out, or dying, KEEP GOING!" I play all my sports that way!
What do you hope to get out of this group: Support. I've plateaued and have started to lose faith and think that my goal isn't attainable. Funny thing is I was a lean, mean, toned machine 9 years ago at 124lb after recovering from my highest weight of 155lb 13 years ago. But my body just doesn't respond like it did 10 years ago! :grumble:
Anything else you want to share?!: I'm a very strong, independent female, sometimes to a fault. Love a good challenge; in fact I can't turn them down. :ohwell:
Week of 9/4 Discussion Topic: What do you think is going to tempt you the most this fall? How do you plan to deal with it?
Definitely tailgating! I love a good tailgate party and college football game! GO HOGS!!! I'm always pretty good about bringing something healthful to the mix but it's far-outweighed by all the crap! This year I'm not going to go to any tailgate parties hungry. I'm also going to start bringing my own low-cal mixers even if there's a free keg!
Week of 9/4 Challenge: Don't use the elevator
Pretty easy for me as there aren't very many elevators the buildings I frequent in my town. But I do usually try to take the stairs if there's an option.
Week of 9/11 Discussion Topic: Why I joined MFP and want to live a healthier life?
I'm actually fairly "healthy" now but I had noticed that I'd put on a few pounds and know it's just gonna get harder to take it off and keep it off the older I get.
Week of 9/11 Challenge: Incorporate fitness into my daily routine?
I've been sitting with MUCH better posture at my desk to engage my core. Plus I'm doing leg lifts at my desk.0 -
Thank you ladies! I was considering skipping tonight because I worked an 11.5 hour day, went to my dad's house for dinner and literally just got home... but not after so many of you rocked it tonight! So hereeeee we go 30 Day Shred Level 1 Day 3...0
-
hey everyone - just an FYI that I obviously changed my username. old username "gainskb" was based on my maiden name and plus it was a bit disturbing to me when i googled gainskb that every part of my online life showed up. i suppose that's what i get for being consistent with my usernames.. lol0

Ha! Busted down Day #4 of 30DS... Yay me!!
Hope you feel better soon Me525 and Coffeegirl!
Thanks! I did feel much better yesterday:) It's true what they say, "your brain is your worst enemy"........ so now no more letting the brain tell me it's ok to skip a workout because i'm exhusted and feeling weak..... all the more reason to kick butt:)
Keep the inspiration flowing ladies!0 -
hello Ladies, finally got my Killer Buns and Thigh in the mail yesterday and broke it out of the package and worked it. WHEW, going to try again today but its pretty tough.0

Hmmm..... I might have to check that one out next!! My bum gets as round as my belly each time I am pregnant lol, therefor it is one of my biggest (no pun intended but there it is haha) problem areas. Lemme know how it works for you!0 -
So I finished DAY 4 today! Yay! Today's motivation stemmed from some online Ann Taylor shopping. I bought 7 new shirts for $140... I mean when its 40% off plus an additional 20% off coupon AND free shipping.. how can I resist! Haha. There's just something way more relaxing about online shopping... I mean you don't have to dig through racks looking for your size.. either the little button with your size highlights or it doesn't and the way I see it, as long as you get free shipping and you can return stuff in stores, why not! :-) I hope everyone else got in some good workouts today!
@Erica – I lloovvee rare-med rare steak too. Sooo good. It took awhile for my husband to really get that I liked it really red in the middle, but now he cooks them pperrfectly! And your job sounds really interesting! I took some Energy classes in college and they were always pretty cool. And just keep pushing, you’ll get past your plateau! I got stuck around the mid 140’s and thought I was just destined to be there and then after a couple of months the weight started to come off again and now I’m down around 128-129. I don’t think I really changed anything either, just stayed committed! Glad you joined the group and I hope we can help you get through your plateau!
@me525 – Glad you’re feeling better! And I agree that you are your own worst enemy… it can be easy to convince yourself that you just aren’t “well enough” to work out, but then again sometimes we really need a day to just rest!
@jrhstarlight – Does the new DVD use weights?
@silversong – I’m afraid I’m going to get a round bum when I get pregnant since that’s where I tend to gain first. Did you do any exercising while you were pregnant? I’m kind of dreading getting fat, I just want a cute baby bump like the naturally skinny girls get. I think I’m doomed though, I have to work hard for my skinniness.0 -

No I didn't lol.... with my first I walked a lot out of necessity, but that was all really. My second pregnancy I wound up with a herniated bellybutton so I didn't do anything. My third I was fat and lazy lol. I tried walking some but his head would grind on my pelvis (doc said it was just how he was laying) and it felt horrible so I used it as an excuse to not do anything. Truthfully, I haven't ever really worked out until just recently, as in May of this year. Always swore I would never be like that, but here I am LOL. And the funny thing is.... I like it! As much as I have to make myself do it most days, I really love the way I feel afterwards, plus having gotten back down to where I can feel somewhat comfortable in my own skin again. I will gladly work out for that alone!0
