hello Ladies, finally got my Killer Buns and Thigh in the mail yesterday and broke it out of the package and worked it. WHEW, going to try again today but its pretty tough.
Just got mine late today (well yesterday now), will start tomorrow. Are you in the challenge? While waiting I did week 4 of ripped in 30 again - youch!!! It's a great program though.

Congrats to all the ladies powering through the shred, it's totally worth it! I haven't worked much and my parents are in town but I think of the challenge and try to walk more and do isometric butt squeezes and ab contractions throughout the day. My diet isn't so great this week, I will aim to clean it up a bit.

@kgs, I met my hubby in san Diego actually. We got married in Jamaica and go about once per year.

@cutmd yes I am in the challenge as well :) I wanted to take a break from Jillian but of course wanting to do the newest dvd and knowing its popular now and I will get more support than waiting I figured what the hey. I was going to try for 3 days a week but the group said 4 LOL so that probably will be a better schedule and yield more results anyway :)

@kgs yes so far some weights are involved not heavily in lvl 1 unless you want them throughout for more resistance or challenge. You only need a mat weights and for lvl 2-3 a chair. Lvl 1 is about 40 minutes total with her circuits in use.

Question for you JM Fanatics: I have never been able to the 30 DS in 30 days & I was wondering if we are really supposed to? I know that they always talk about giving your body a "rest" day -- but Jillian also talks about how she makes the videos to work your muscles in a way that you can do them every day...

I was just wondering what people feel is the most successful route for doing her videos? Should I aim for 30DS in 30 days? Should I build in a rest day, or only take one if I feel I need it? Should I be doing a video 7x/week?

I am traveling for work Sunday - Wednesday. I am taking gym clothes to workout at the hotel while I'm there (yeah me - but no excuses now!!!!!!) So, when I get back I want to get into a JM routine & I would be interested in seeing what you gals suggest. The videos I have are Yoga Meltdown, 30DS, No More Trouble Zones, and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. Any suggestions, tips, etc for getting some good results would be appreciated.

ps. Once I get through some of these I'd like to purchase Ripped in 30 and Shred it with Weights. Any thoughts on these videos for those of you who have them?

So I have never done it in 30 days and while my plan was to do it this time... I skipped yesterday. Not going to let it get to me like I usually do (and then miss multiple days because i've already not made it in 30 days) but I'm going to pretend like I didn't miss a day and keep striving to do it every day for 30 days. I do think you CAN do it every day because they aren't that rough on your muscles. Ripped in 30 is definitely harder and for that one, JM actually says to put a rest day in.

I actually did really well when I went on work travel earlier this year because I don't have a gym so I was pretty excited to work out in the gym and I had nothing to do after we finished working but sit in the hotel so I spent a lot of time at the gym (it was a nice gym too, had tv's on the machines :-)

Ripped in 30 is definitely a good one. Harder than the 30 day shred but the same type of workout so if you like the shred then you'll like it and I recommend it. Shred it with Weights I am very against though. I bought it and did it and I was in ridiculous amounts of pain (like couldn't move my muscles hurt so badly) for over a week. I knew something wasn't right so I did some research on the video and it turns out that a lot of the exercises she does are dangerous. It is a kettlebell workout (I did the modified version with a handweight) and the "ketttlebell community" pretty much lashed out at JM for making this video without having the right knowledge about kettlebell workouts. So if you are going to get it, just know that there is a lot of controversy over the video and do your research. If you know how to do kettlebell workouts then you may have more success with it, but don't rely on JM to teach you the proper movements.

My weight fluctuates a lot but. Will weigh myself tomorrow and report back.

    1. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week? Eh

    2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (finding new opportunities to incorporate exercise into your day)? I exercised more and tried to lead my parents walking and up stairs when they visited. Stood more at work

    3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again? ate too many chips and didn't work out everyday. I am going low carb this week so no chips! My exercise routine is already planned since I am also in the buns and thighs challenge

    4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week? Doing insanity and Jillian's bun workout back to back!

    5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened) my wonderful parents flew up for a visit!

    6. What is your favorite healthy snack? Dried mango

Week of 9/18 Fitness Challenge: Go for a walk at least twice as long as you would normally go. So if you usually go for a 20 minute walk, make it a 40 minute walk. The weather is getting really nice so let's all go out and enjoy it!

Week of 9/18 Discussion Topic: Would you say you have good self-esteem? Is your self-esteem improving now that you have joined MFP? Do you have any advice for those battling self-esteem issues? My self esteem waxes and wanes. MFP has helped, so has working out hard. My advice for self esteem would be to work out hard and listen to Jillian's speech at the end of ripped in 30 week 4. It was very touching! One of the things she says is "be the best you you can be. Everyone else is taken"

    Last Week's Weight: 157.4
    This Week's Weight: 157.4
Weight lost last week: 0 for the third week >_<

    1. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week?
I think I did great exercise wise. I tried really hard in an effort to push past this slump I'm stuck in. Food I slacked in vegetables and ate several things I shouldn't have. I missed logging my food on Saturday because it was an absolutely insane day and it had already rolled over by the time I got home, so didn't take the time and effort like I should have.

    2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (finding new opportunities to incorporate exercise into your day)?
I continued with my new workout routine with the 30 DS, Tuesday I did not workout but I did do some extra exercise at the soccer field while helping get the kiddos warmed up to play. I also stood the entire game and did calf raises and jump rope action in a subtle "cheering for my kid" kind of way lol. Thursday I added in an extra hike with one of my work children and had a great time. Saturday I didn't have time at all for serious exercise, but did do some weight lifting type movements using my baby as the weights lol. Spent about 30 minutes doing that, which also doubled as entertaining him hehe. Sunday was a crap shoot >_<.

    3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again?
My food control. This week I intend to eat far more veggies and far less pizza!!

    4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week?
Getting in 5 days of 30DS even though I far from wanted to.

    5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened)
Went and lunch with each of my children at school and totally made their days by doing so.

    6. What is your favorite healthy snack?
    Fruit, any kind.

In general yes. This last 18 months, no. I am starting to feel more confident in myself again though, especially in particular areas of my life. I do still struggle with the negativity occasionally, which is highly unusual for me. I have always been accused of being an overly optimistic person. I am having to retrain myself to some extent to replace the negative thoughts with the positive ones again.

    1. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week? Neutral no weight lost or gained
    2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (finding new opportunities to incorporate exercise into your day)? Honestly not great, I forgot :( but I always when I am on the phone pace the house whether it is a 10 minute call or 1 hour so that has been consistent lol
    3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again? I didn't eat as well but mainly due to having few groceries in the house and being told by bf he was going shopping and he never did so i did this weekend but was on a budget and didn't get everything I would have liked.
    4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week? I started and did Killer Buns and Thighs 3 days in a row.
    5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened) nothing too great again but I did find some jobs I can go apply for this week so I am happy about that but of course whether I will be hired is another story.
    6. What is your favorite healthy snack? I like beef jerky and pineapples

My self-esteem is improving and yes I think it has to do with exercises more and trying to do better with food.

    This Week's Weight: 141 lb
Weight lost last week: no change

    1. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week? I really felt good about what I was doing last week but didn't see any changes on the scale or from the measuring tape (doing the Sept measurement challenge)

    2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (finding new opportunities to incorporate exercise into your day)? Pretty good the first 2-3 days but kinda forgot about it the last half of the week. :ohwell:

    3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again? Tailgating was still a hard thing for me to accomplish "healthfully" but I did better.

    4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week? Started JM 30DS on Saturday with my boyfriend and loving it! Level 1, day 3 coming up...

    5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened) Arkansas crushed Troy! and some pals and I went to the rifle range

    6. What is your favorite healthy snack? peach/necturine/grapefruit and 2% milk string cheese

Mine is OK. I've struggled on and off with this in the past. I do know that regardless of how far into my fitness journey I am, as long as I keep making the effort whole-heartedly, not just on the outside, I already feel better about myself.

Good day so far! Been doubling up on walking each day, and just finished Day 8 of the 30DS! I plan to start Level 2 on Friday (YIKES!) Also the scale finally started budging again lol.... was playing with my diet (needed to lower amount for nursing, as I was getting too full) and am guessing that I was building muscle from the 30DS. Ready to rock it now!!

Well, L1-D3 DONE!!! It was a tough one. Had to take a day of rest yesterday because I was having some really bad knee pain. :frown: So I was thinking back to what the cause could've been... Didn't really plan very well. I was so stoked when my JM 30DS arrived and wanted to start it right away. Well, as timing would have it I started JM 30DS on the same day as my half marathon training started. So I'm pretty sure I just overstressed too quickly. No worries though, I'm back on track.

Okay, did day # 9 LOL. Didn't want to... made myself. So so right now though!! All the walking is making my calves angry at me!! Gonna take today off of walking, since I don't typically walk on Wednesdays anyways. Hopefully it helps!!

Weight lost last week: big fat ZERO!

    1. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week? no progress. slowly getting out of the funk
    2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (finding new opportunities to incorporate exercise into your day)? I've been really extremely busy lately. I know it sounds like and excuse.. but seriously it has been crazy. I'm exhausted. I can't keep up!
    3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again? WEll my sister moved in with us so she has her stuff EVERYWHERE.... STILL. takig up my basement which is where I do my workout videos. So... I can't do my videos. I just haven't had a chance to make it to the gym either.
    4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week? hmm.. I actually ate pretty good.
    5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened) I bought a new car! my first new car EVER! Not excited about the car payments but it comes with getting a new car!
    6. What is your favorite healthy snack? lite string cheese and OMG! Chobani came out with a black cherry greek yogurt. it is amazing. No joke.. my husband and I fight over them. We can't keep them in the house. sometimes I eat 2 a day. they are the best tasting thing ever! I would buy a variety of chobani flavors... now I have strictly bought the black cherry kind. OMG!! amazing!

Week of 9/18 Discussion Topic: Would you say you have good self-esteem? Is your self-esteem improving now that you have joined MFP? Do you have any advice for those battling self-esteem issues

I think to some exten I've always had self esteem issues... even in highschool when I was a size 2-3. when I would sit I would have a tiny little roll. I thought i was fat. Now I realize it was just skin.. I was a flippin size 2! After I gained 40lbs I realized I am now jealous of the high school Allison and I get mad at myself for letting myself go. I am proud of myself that I did get to point and said "enough is enough" I'm glad that I didn't gain more then 40lbs. My self esteem is really improving now that I have lost the majority of the weight.. but now having been so covered up after losing the weight .. I am still getting used to wearing tighter clothes, bathing suits and feelin comfortable in them. But its natural. Going on my honeymoon really helped. I was nervous about wearing a bikini. some girls were really ripped... my husband made fun of my one piece and told me "babe.. you look like you are hiding from something.. you kicked *kitten*... you look amazing! rock it!" so we went and bought a bikini from the gift shop. it looked awesome! I also did see a few girls that probally should NEVER be seen on the beach.. like they did not care at all.... really super saggy boobs in a triangle bikini top ( tie the sh** tighter), muffin tops..... bad... walking around in string bikinis. So then I was like "if that girl can walk around in a bikini and not give a crap.. then I surely can too.".

I've done the 30ds in the past. I got to 5 or six days in a row... thats the furthest I got. I do it from time to time. I do it in my basement. overall level one is hard but not awful. Level 2 convince me that she is $#%(#@ crazy. I don't remember attempting level 3. but when I did it 5 days in a row I felt great.. it started getting easier but the jumping jack and all the jumping around killed my knees and ankles that I had to stop doing it for awhile. Like it was awful pain. I don't know if its because I had carpet in my basement or what. Is that normal????

That Is Hilarious!! I think my husband would fall over laughing at me if I suggested doing a work out video for together time lol... but then again he has it easy with his body type (pretty soon I will be tougher than him though haha, all he does is sit around in his computer chair LOL). Working on getting him to hike and bike with me for big people time, and actually got him to go walking with me on Monday!!

For the plyo (jumping) moves, you have to practice your form so you land softly. Practice jumping quietly as if you are trying to keep from disturbing others. It actually requires more muscle work to control your landing and it protects your joints. Also make sure you have good quality sneakers on. If push comes to shove there is also a plyo mat for extra cushion.

I think killer buns and thighs level 2 is the best evidence so far that JM is crazy, though m sure level 3 will be worse when I get there.

I'm really not much of a walker besides at work, tend to do more intense cardio. So I am trying to do extra cardio workouts instead; today i will try some powerwalking after my Jillian workout.

    1. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week? Well I WAS doing pretty good but I've pretty much fallen completely off track. Not overly upset about it because I am still AWARE of my choices and fully logging but 30 DS has gone out the window. Too much going on now and still working like 50+ hours a week in my new job. I need the new job to cool down a bit. I'm thinking I'll try to do the 30 DS in 30 days again when the winter hits. We're just doing too much on the weekends and I have too many excuses.

    2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (finding new opportunities to incorporate exercise into your day)? I did pretty good at the beginning of the week. Then I kinda forgot about it. I was jumping around a bit while getting ready in the morning.

    3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? What are you going to do this week to make sure it doesn't happen again? Hmm well I could go look at my diary and re-live all of it but I'd rather not. I think the main issue was that we didn't have any good choices in the house and it led to a lot of eating out and binge eating on the crap we did have. I've been having cravings and not being able to satisfy the cravings. So it leads to a lot of eating with very little satisfaction.

    4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week? Umm. I don't know. Last week was so long ago now. LOL.

    5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened) I went shopping with my mom and got two new suits! Love love love them!

    6. What is your favorite healthy snack? Hmmm. Healthy? Probably an apple. But it has to be sliced. I hate biting into them.

Week of 9/18 Fitness Challenge: Go for a walk at least twice as long as you would normally go. So if you usually go for a 20 minute walk, make it a 40 minute walk. The weather is getting really nice so let's all go out and enjoy it!

    - We are going camping this weekend so this shouldn't be a problem!

Week of 9/18 Discussion Topic: Would you say you have good self-esteem? Is your self-esteem improving now that you have joined MFP? Do you have any advice for those battling self-esteem issues?

My husband seems to think I have too much self-esteem. I think no girl can have too much self-esteem :-) I've worked hard for it and I'm proud of myself. I was proud of myself before MFP, but now I am healthier and happier than I have ever been. I love MFP for giving me that! For those with self-esteem issues, I'd say to really start looking at the choices you are making in your life. You should be happy and proud of every choice you make and if you aren't, then you need to start making different choices! I think we all have the ability to control our lives by the choicest we make. The simplest choice being what mood we decide to be in when we wake up in the morning :-)

Weird day... my planned hike turned into a puppy rescue mission and we dug a bunch of puppies, very literally, out from under an old shed. And..... we wound up with one >_< So now to puppy training LOL

Also work blew up in my face and took over the day and never had an opportunity to do 30DS, sigh.... which means I get to do it Saturday. Oh well such is life I guess.

I'm doing this a bit late in the week ... but better late than not at all.

    1. Overall how do you feel about your progress last week? Last week, I felt like I was doing pretty good until I started feeling sick. Then it's all out the window -- no exercise, pretty good eating, but not great. I must not have done all that well because the 1 lb. that came off the week before came back.... :(

    2. How did you do with the fitness challenge (finding new opportunities to incorporate exercise into your day)? I've decided to start taking morning and afternoon walk breaks. I usually bring my lunch and eat at my desk, so this will give me a chance to get out of the office, stretch my legs and clear my head.

    3. What is your biggest fitness/health regret of last week? Being sick and having to cut back right when I was starting to establish a routine.

    4. What was your biggest fitness/health accomplishment of last week? I recognized that my body was feeling weak and rather than pushing myself to workout -- I rested. In the past, I would probably try to push past it only to make myself fully sick and rundown. Learning to listen to my body & fuel it correctly is really important to me.

    5. What was a non-fitness/health related high of last week? (Just something awesome that happened) My niece's 1st birthday party! She is getting so big!

    6. What is your favorite healthy snack? Hummus & veggies.

Week of 9/18 Fitness Challenge: Go for a walk at least twice as long as you would normally go. So if you usually go for a 20 minute walk, make it a 40 minute walk. The weather is getting really nice so let's all go out and enjoy it!

I would have done this if I was home for the week. My pup would have loved the extra long walk time. The hotel I stayed in was HUGE. I took the stairs whenever possible and was on my feet Monday-Wednesday.

Week of 9/18 Discussion Topic: Would you say you have good self-esteem? Is your self-esteem improving now that you have joined MFP? Do you have any advice for those battling self-esteem issues? I have fairly good self esteem. I would say that I always feel better about myself when I'm working out -- so that is the extra push that I use to get myself moving. I haven't seen much change on the scale, which is frustrating. I think I need to really evaluate what I am putting in my mouth, my exercise and see what I need to change to get some results. I think I'll feel more confident once I start to see some changes. I'm looking forward to this next week at home & getting back into the groove of things.

I'm feeling a bit frustrated -- but it's really my own fault.

After traveling last week, not working out, and not eating well. I'm back to ZERO lbs lost! I ate like crap all weekend because we were too busy to go to the store & didn't have any food in the house.

I have to get back in the swing of things -- I'm in the process of getting a designated "workout area" in my basement that will eventually be a workout room (once the basement is finished) -- but for now I'm trying to get it functional because if I have my own area that is always "ready" for me -- I think I'll be more likely to do it & there will be less distractions if I'm down in my own space. I want to do the 30DS challenge -- I just need to make myself do it. There are no excuses here -- just plain old laziness. :(

I also need to redo my caloric intake because I'm not getting the calorie burn that I projected regularly & I think that my calories might be too high & that's contributing to the non-weight loss as well.

Silversong24 - We actually do bike to dinner sometimes on date night! We have access to a great urban paved trail that runs almost all the way through town, north to south here. We start at the south side and ride to dinner on the north side about 6-7 miles away. My boyfriend has it pretty easy with his body type too. But I've convinced him it's only gonna get harder to stay in shape. And I think I'm probably already stronger than he is!

I'm doing pretty well. Really kicked last week's $#% !!! The weekend, however, was a different story. :ohwell: We had a big party at the lake over the weekend. Don't think I destroyed all of my progress last week, but sure didn't help it!

Decided to report in, blah. Last week was a bummer for me. I went on a walk to job hunt which worked out well for the challenge this week of getting in some walking. Well wound up walking 10 miles Mon and had to do another 5 on Tues, I was beat cause my shoes suck and gave me Plantar fasciitis which I have never had before so ouch! So I took a rest day on Wed and by Thrus thought I was good to go until in the middle of my warm up the pain flared up badly again so I stopped :( Decided to take the rest of the week off and forget and guess I was a little burned out of mfp cause I barely logged anything or even got up here. I thought maybe taken the extra time would trick my body so by this week when I start up again I might lose more  You never know even though I over did it on the weekend as most people struggle with as well. We'll see how this week goes.

Whew! That was tough! Had to kick Monday's $%^ or it was gonna kick mine. Rode some trail on my mountain bike, then since I was already gross and sweaty, knocked out another JM 30DS! Woot woot! L1-D7 = DONE!!!
