Hi Pam. I did have you on our last chart. :-) I had your starting weight as 178 and your goal weight as 165. It looks like you would like to change your GW to 162. Correct?

bluiz13 - A new profile pic! Is that the weight you are aiming for? How old were you there?

Hi All! I've loved reading everyone's stories.

And Veronica - I have been thinking of chilli lately too!

Fall is my favorite season, and I hit the farmers market on Saturday. I have a big bag of apples, and may just do some crock-pot applesauce to fill the house with that yummy smell!

Have a great night all & let's get our mornings started right!

Crockpot applesauce? Please tell me how you make this! My children love applesauce!!! :)

I am sure they may be a "real" recipe - but I just peel then chunk up a bunch of apples, put them in the crock pot with a little bit of water, sprinkle them with cinnamon, add a little bit of brown sugar & white sugar, turn it on low & let it go for hours. When it's done I mash it up & YUM! I try to be super conservative on the sugar, and if it really needs more, I add it at mashing time. :) The smell in the house is FABULOUS!!!

The applesauce sounds great! I used to make my daughter homemade baby food when she was little. For applesauce I just used Gala apples because they are sweet to begin with, boiled with a smidge if water until soft then used a blender to puree it, no sugar needed. However I don't think you will get the same homey aroma. . .:frown:

Amy, do u do alot of crockpotting? I love making crockpot meals and with fall around the corner, it's time!

    Hi everyone!

I'm Christine. I'm a 33 year old pediatric RN, wife and mother of 3 little girls ages 7, 4 and 21 months. Weight has always been an issue for me. Seriously, I remember being embarrassed about it in the 5th grade and going on "diets" in the 3rd. I have been on the diet yo-yo since I was 21. I joined MFP in January to lose weight for my sister's wedding (which was in April) and have lost 29 lb. I've already lost more weight and have stuck with it longer than I ever have. It WILL stick this time. I'm a super slow loser. I would love to say I know what gets my body to lose faster but I'm stumped. My weight loss has been inconsistent to say the least. I work hard and exercise vigorously 5-6 days per week. I've learned to be patient but sometimes it still can be so frustrating. I figure it's going to take me so long to lose my weight I will be so used to the lifestyle I won't go back. I am so happy to be doing this challenge with all of you. If I can reach my goal of 15 lb lost I will be close to the weight I was when I got married. When I get to my goal weight I hope to train for and run a marathon.

Sorry, I forgot to ask. .is there a badge for this challenge we can add to our signature? Its my 1st challenge & wasn't sure how that worked.

    Thank you!
  • Just found this now! I'm so excited to be a part of this, it's exactly what I need!!

I'm Kasha, 34 year old mom to a 5, 7 and 9 year old. I've slowly put on weight over the years, but really put a lot on in the past few years when I decided to go back to school to become a nurse. I did a lot of running before I went back to school (that's when I do my best thinking and it was while running that I made the decision to go back!), but once I started classes I quit running completely.

My dh works on the road in construction, so it's just me and the kids, and between school and part time work and the kids- there was ZERO time left for ME! I graduated as an LPN this past spring, and am working in home health while I work part time on finishing up my degree to become an RN. My youngest just started kindergarten, so I FINALLY have time to myself without having to pay for daycare. I joined the Y just yesterday and am going to be meeting with a trainer to start a 12-week program there in a couple weeks, which should end shortly before this challenge ends, so perfect timing!

Can't wait to get to know you all!!!

We have so many people, I think it's gonna be a challenge keeping track of who's who. Had a little "off" day at work today, so glad to be home and relaxing for a few minutes before hubby walks in the door. Then, it's time for weight training tonight. We usually do arms on one day, then legs the next, but with that Insanity workout last night, there was NO way I had enough gas to do weights on top of it, so we'll attempt to do the whole body thing tonight. We just got some Netflix in, so it'll be a movie night over here after workout. I'm gonna be bad and eat a half of a pizza, but it's a Kashi pizza, so it won't be that bad, and I'll add a salad!

The applesauce idea looks so yummy... I'm trying to figure out how to rig up my crockpot to cook a pork roast at the same time as the apples! (maybe I just have to get a second crock pot, LOL, hubby will love that idea!)

Jill- love that verse in your signature. It's been a little bit of a family mantra over here, through the years dealing with our youngest son's disabilities!

Ya'll have a great night, and keep up the great work, I'm already getting excited for the weigh in on Monday to see everyone's progress!

Hi All! So happy to get in some good workouts today. So far on track for Monday's weigh in :) (YAY!)

Crystal - so happy your plateau has lifted!

Shannon - Those football parties sound like an exercise in massive discipline. Maybe you can find some yummy lower fat snacks on skinnytaste.com (LOVE IT!)

Texas - hope you are feeling better!

Shirley - hoping the weather tomorrow includes some sun! Always easier to move about when the sun is shining.

Denise - how did you do at meeting your goals today?

Jkim - glad life & marriage & weight are back on track & that you have a good support system

Bearface - Yay for weigh in day! Let's make it a good one!

Pam - What kind of food challenge are you doing?

(fat)Christine - thanks for sharing the link - that video definitely pulls at the heartstrings!

(cmpettey) Christine - it can be frustrating when you feel you are doing everything right & nothing is happening. I try to mix things up when that happens - new workout routine, make sure I'm not repeating the same foods over & over.. avoiding all beverages outside of water, 7-9 hours of sleep, weighing & measuring food, meticulous tracking (ah, we're all this perfect right? LOL )

gr8grl68 - I cook pork tenderloin in the crock pot often - but really want to branch out more. I am not a big fan of cooking on work days.

Lady Persia - definitely rest if injured. I tried to push myself thru an injury 2 weeks ago & really set myself back (I had to use crutches one day b/c I couldn't even walk on my ankle!) (that's what a Master's degree in Physical therapy will get you ... no common sense about yourself!) Hope you are better asap!

Kasha - WOW you are busy! I am trying to prepare for just 1 exam for a self-study course at work, and I am having a hard time getting any work done. (probably should be reading my textbook instead of bing online!) Amazing everything you are accomplishing with such a demanding schedule! You rock!

Veronica - Do you & hubby work out together? If so that is awesome!

Ok all, I must get to bed at a decent hour!

    Have a fabulous Friday!

    Hugs,
    Amy
  • Amy -- I can not get enough of skinnytaste!! Gina's recipes are out of control! I have made some of her recipes for football parties/get togethers in the past, and they all get rave reviews. Isn't she awesome?? My favorite recipe is her skinny enchiladas and her turkey taco chili. I like her stuff because it's healthy, low-cal (mostly), and "regular" (non-dieting) people will still eat it!

I'm SO excited for this week's weigh-in. I think I really nailed it! I'm proud of myself this week. I'm in another challenge that is incorporating strength training into my daily routine, and I feel really good about myself for the first time in a while.

Hope y'all are making good choices and staying on track this week!! Every day -- every meal -- every workout counts!!

it was the summer before my senior year - i was 16 and i think i weighed about what i do now lol...about a year before i had gotten to 145ish after having jaw surgery and being wired shut for 10 wks...BUT i shot back up to 160s? 170s? 180s? i dont really remember what i weighed in HS like i do now based on current events: meeting hubby, married, first kid, etc....

here is a pic at me right around 145ish after my surgery...confirmation.jpg

gr8grl68 - Not an official badge. I just used one from here:

    http://www.matthewscaloriecounter.com/public/weight_loss_ticker.aspx

and I've seen others use ones from tickerfactory, etc. which are less hoggy than the one I used.

runningmom1977 - "My dh works on the road in construction" - I feel ya! Since June of 2008, my husband has been gone A LOT doing the same thing. Sometimes I've only seen him once every 5 weeks. I'm lucky that, right now, I see him every weekend.

LadyPersia - "evacuating our areas" - That doesn't sound good. :-( I hope everything is all right.

AmyByExample - "So happy to get in some good workouts today" - fabulous! And I'm so glad that you took the time to acknowledge so many of the people on here! I love skinnytaste.com too as well as hungry-girl.com! I think you gave some great advice to Christine (cmpettey).

shannonaufman - "I'm SO excited for this week's weigh-in. I think I really nailed it! I'm proud of myself this week. I'm in another challenge that is incorporating strength training into my daily routine, and I feel really good about myself for the first time in a while." - I'm sooo glad about everything you've said here!

bluiz13 - "i had gotten to 145ish" - and I see that is your ultimate goal weight. I know you'll get there!

I know we have quite a large group and I truly appreciate all of those that are taking the time to post to each other and about what they're doing. Thanks!

Well this being unable to drive business and the shops being a 20 minute walk away better pay off! Yesterday I walked to the doctors and back. Just over an hours worth of walking. Today I walked most of the way down to get my dog licensed (hubby dropped me part way on his way to work) and all the way back. About 50 minutes walking altogether. Got dog walks on top of that but I don't log those as I mostly just potter around while he rolls, reads his pee mail and does other doggy things. Next week I'm going seeing the folks in the gym to get an induction and find out when their least busy time is, the fewer people who see me post box red and sweaty the better lol.

Crockpot applesauce sounds awesome! My crockpot just tends to sit there coz I've no clue what to make in it. Might have to look up some recipes now I can get to the shops by myself.

And looking through some old pics I've found a pic of me at around 140lbs which is what I got down to with weight watchers. I'd like to be a bit more toned next time I hit that weight though. Ironically, this is saved as "horrible pic of Sarah" yet it's nowhere near as horrible as current pics lol. I actually still have the clothes I'm wearing in it too. Excuse the mess, redecorating that never actually got finished.

  • Hi, my name is Monita and I was just reminded that I haven't been on here yet:-) I am 50 years old and trying like crazy to lose weight. I made it down to 149 but wasn't quite sure my scale was right because I just didn't look the way I thought I should look for being in the 140's. So, I took my sorry butt down to my doctors office to get weighed and sure enough, my scale is 10 lbs off. Now, instead of being thrilled to be 149 I'm working on being thrilled for being 159. I'm still determined to be 135 by Christmas though!!! :-)

Good morning fellow Hubba Hubbers! Hope everyone is having a great morning and meeting all of their goals. My goal to go to bed is almost here lol (I work straight night shift). Could someone remind me, it's Mondays that we weigh in, right?

I need the weigh in posted no later than noon (PST) on Monday. You can weigh in the day that works best for you as long as you consistently use the same day. :-)

Hi Miss Monita! I'm sorry about the 159 news. :-( You seem to have a good attitude about it though. If you'd like a scale recommendation, I can tell you mine. It was rated well on Amazon and the people that compared it to their doctor's scale, it was either right on or off by (point) 2 lbs. You'll have that extra weight off in no time, since you are so consistent with your food and exercise!

  • Hi K! I wanted to hang my head in defeat but then I picked myself up and realized that even though I'm 10 lbs above what I thought I was, I'm still 57 lbs lighter than what I was in November:-) I would love to know what scale you use! I will make sure I have my weigh in to you by Monday morning. It's gonna show that I gained weight from the 150 thats on the graph but that's ok, it'll motivate me:-)
I've been walking for 30 minutes every morning and that seems to be working nicely. Good luck to everyone in this group!

This is the one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MK6QKO I changed your starting weight to 159. No need to be penalized for something you didn't know. If you are lower than that on Monday, another loss for you! Congrats on the 57 lbs lost, so far!

Sorry, I haven't had the time to read all of the posts. My name is Kate. I'm a 30 something, stay at home Mom with 4 young children ages 8, 6, 4, and 2. After my last 2 babies, I followed a very strict eating plan to lose the weight. However, when my youngest turned 1, I decided that one little piece of cake wouldn't hurt. Cricket, my little inner child, has no will power and that one piece of cake turned into a 25 pound gain. Now I am really struggling to get back on track. My goal for the challenge is 22 lbs, though my ultimate goal is 32 lbs.
