New Year, New Us.....25lb Challenge!!

I would love to join to! I think it's a GREAT idea to be part of a challenge where everyone wants to lose the same 25 pounds. (Seriously, in my last 23-week challenge, we had ladies who were 112 with a goal weight of 110. COME ON!)

Soooo....I just thought I'd share this with all of you because I'm feeling a litle off about it this week and since I'm leading this challenge I really want to set a good example for everyone.....
I got a major wakeup call on Monday night when I went to the gym. My recorded weight of 206 was taken Saturday morning and my scale at home said that Sunday and Monday morning as well so that's what I went with. Well, to my horror when I went to the gym Monday night and weighed in on their scale (which I KNOW is accurate) I was almost in tears when it ready 212! So I went home and change the batteries in my scale at home and sure enough, 212 now at home too. So this week I've been a little depressed but also motivated. When I woke up Tuesday morning my weight was 209, so I guess that is probably my official starting weight. But, I've been very good this week and this morning weighed in at 207. Soooo I'll stick to the 206 starting weight and really push myself this week to hopefully get to 205 so I can count it as at least a 1 pound loss.
Just had to get that off my chest, I'm realizing 1.67lbs a week is going to be a little more difficult than I first thought. But I guess the point is I don't want anyone to get discouraged if at weigh in you only lose 0.5 pounds, or none at all. Some weeks you may lose 2lbs! It will all balance out and any weight loss before the New Year is an accomplishment in my eyes!0 -
I really wouldn't worry about it! Your weight will fluctuate between the morning and nighttime normally. I mean, look at all the stuff you put in your body during the day (and doesn't necessarily come back out if you get what I mean) so your night time weight is usually higher than your morning weight and if you aren't regular your weekly weight can also change a couple pounds. That's why it is best not to weigh yourself alot because you are going to get stressed out about the little changes. Pick a day and a time to weigh yourself and stick to it. I currently weigh myself on Monday mornings and since I'm in a challenge that weighs on Thursdays I do it then too. I'm ALWAYS higher on Thursdays. When that challenge ends I'm going back to just Monday's. Different clothes weigh a lot too.0

I totally agree with "pehermann". Even though I weigh myself many times through out the week, I always go with My official Monday morning weigh in (I am on the scale first thing after the bathroom, in my birthday suit).
You are already doing a great job setting an example!0 -
I'm in. My goal is to be 180 by Christmas anyways, so I weighed in Monday at 208.5. I want to lose about 30 pounds, but same thing right? lol0

Right now, I walk 2 days a week, yoga atleast once a week, and I'm going to start doing cardio or scuplting one or 2 days. I use the Turbo Jams. I would really like to start my day off with yoga, but I really, REALLY like sleep apperently. Even if I set early alarms, I sleep thru them.0 -

I just finished a 75 day challenge today, but if it's not too late I would like to be in on the New Year challenge. My weight Monday was 278.
I really found that the 75 day challenge helped me stay focused and on track. I was just thinking about the holidays coming up and praying that I don't mess up.
Thanks0 -
If it's not too late. I would love to join the 25lb Challange!! My Monday Weight was 185.60

I want in to if its not to late...Mine is 250...with 25 down that would be 225.0

I've been pretty good at keeping up on my workouts this week gonna try my hardest to keep it up on the weekend and also to not go over my cals on the weekend (which is what normally happens). I hope you all have a great weekend!0

I tend to weigh myself most days, just to see what the scale is doing and my weight went went up earlier this week. Hopefully it'll be back down before the weigh in on Monday! I did eat pizza this week, and I ate it late in the day, so I wasn't too surprised by the increase. I'm not going to worry about it at this point. My biggest focus is on trying to keep my calories within an acceptable level and to increase my activity level.
BUT, as time goes on my plan is to begin to clean up my eating more and more, and I will be increasing in exercising as I become more conditioned to it. Next week begins a new running program that I'm doing on my own. It starts very slowly...but that should help as well and it will also coincide with a walk/run challenge that I entered here on MFP that begins on Monday. My challenge is to walk/run 210 miles by the new year. I am hoping to not only meet that challenge but exceed it!!
I'm just going to focus on little things as I go, and not stress about trying to do everything perfectly all the time. I know by now that THAT'S not gonna happen!! Progress is what I'm looking for!! I hope by doing that, then the pounds will also fall away, naturally.
I'm soooo looking forward to watching how everyone does, and hearing from you all, about your challenges and your successes as we all move toward that 25 pound mark!!0 -
I would love to join if it's still possible!

I have not actually started to work out yet.... I just went grocery shopping this morning after I got off work, and made mini meal plans so that I can pack my lunch for work. I work overnights, so my schedule is a little off when it come to eating and working out. My personal goal is to be in the gym at least 3 times a week! I will have to start with the treadmill, because I haven’t worked out in a really long, long time. Tomorrow will be my first day in the gym
I would love to hear anyone’s thoughts on strength training…. When to start, how much to do, etc. I haven’t ever done strength training…. But from what I have read it looks as though I have to do the cardio and the strength training to help with not only the weight loss, but also to help with the body firming up as I lose weight. I seriously want to avoid as much saggy skin as I possibly can!
Heather, YOU ARE AWESOME! You are a great leader, and great motivator. If we can’t be honest on here and talk about what’s really going on, were can we? I think you are doing an awesome job! Thank you once again for starting, monitoring, and tracking this challenge!0 -
I am nervous for monday but excited, even a .5lb loss would keep me happy seeing as it is exam week0

Count me in. We can do this.
SW: 259

My starting weight was 259 so we are not far apart. I started working out with a trainer and using light weights from the very beginning. Also if you have knee problems try the ellipitical. I know it is harder in the beginning but you get a better workout. I could only do 10 minutes when I first started and that was around the 1st of April now I do 45 minutes. You can friend me if you like we have to stay in this together. GOOD LUCK !! We are all here for you.0

Perfect. Great motivator. Monday is a good weigh-in date for accountability. I'm at 160 need to drop 25 to be at 135 which will allow me to get into my clothes again.0
