QOTD Friday 9/30/11: When do you find that you are at your weakest point during your weight loss journey. How do you get around it? What ARE your weakest points?

My work has been really stressful lately AND we're moving and I really want to eat more because of it - I actually upped my calories (set myself to .5lb/week) lately. I still want to eat though - I ate all my cals today (under protein again, sigh) and got home and I just wanted to eat like 6 mini kit kat bars.

or a piece of cake. Something. Just tired and want to eat right now. Hopefully tomorrow will be better

This past week has been especially difficult. I was moving and was eating really bad. Now I'm living with my mother and I'm having a hard time saying no to soda and rice. I haven't found a way to get around it yet. I'm just gonna have to ask them to help me by saying no to soda and rice. I havent firgured this out yet. Rice is my weak point.

Garlic Pasta with Lemony Scallops and Tomatoes (Note: the lemon could be omitted)

    Ingredients:
8 oz linguine (I've substituted spaghetti squash before)
    2 teaspoons olive oil
    1 lb scallops
1 pint grape tomatoes (I use regular tomatoes---I'm pretty picky and don't like grape tomatoes)
    2 garlic cloves
    1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper (I cut mine to 1/8)
1/4 cup sliced fresh basil (I use a few teaspoons of dried)
    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

    1. Cook linguine according to package directions.
    2. Heat 1 tspn of oil in skillet over med-high heat. Add scallops and cook until browned and just opaque in center. 3-4 minutes. Transfer the scallops to a plate. (I drained the juice in the pan)
    3. Heat remaining tspn of oil in the same skillet over med-high heat. Add tomatoes, garlic, salt, and crushed red pepper. Cook about 5 minutes. Add linguine and scallops; heat through. Remove from heat and stir in basil and lemon juice.

    Serving: 1 Cup (Makes 6 servings) 244 Cal, 3 g fat, 0 g Sat Fat, 0 g Trans Fat, 37 mg Chol, 376 mg Sod, 32 g Carbs, 2 g Fib, 20 g Prot, 29 mg Calc.

    trying this one this weekend!!

QOTD Friday 9/30/11: When do you find that you are at your weakest point during your weight loss journey. How do you get around it? What ARE your weakest points?

When my husband and I have extra money and we go out to eat. It is so hard to eat out and stay within my calories. So I either don't eat all day so I have the calories or I work out extra hard that day. Or I just have a bad day and remember that everyday can't be perfect or I will never continue.

During my cycle I also have a week where I feel like I need to eat anything and everything junk food. It is terrible! Sometimes during this there is NO stopping, I have to eat something. So now I allow myself a few things but don't eat like 6 candy bars in one sitting like I used to.

Sorry I'm late!. I find I am bad when I lose a bit of weight..then I start slacking and put it all back on. This time I am going to take each day as it comes and if I have a bad one, it doesn't mean I should give up and eat badly for the rest of the week. I am focusing more on healthy eating this time around, rather than a quick fix and I really want this to be a lifestyle that I can keep up.

QOTD Saturday October 1- Today marks the end of week 1. How has being in the star challenge affected your journey this week?

This challenge has done wonders for me in my choices! Although it has only happened a couple days through the week, when I feel like completely blowing my day I think about my team. My team is counting on me to take this seriously. Joining this group, I think, will prove to be beneficial and wil lhopefully keep me on task. My goal for myself is clear and I can't wait to feel better about myself, but it helps having other people counting on me to reach my goals as well!

As a side note, this is an amazing group of ladies! There has been so much support and encouragement! We are all stars in my book!!

WOW! I love this question! I believe everything happens for a reason and there is a reason I came across this challenge group and joined. I am sooooo thankful for the WONDERFUL woman that started this group. Every morning I can't wait to read the new question of the day and that is how I start the day. Then to read all the stories of these beautiful ladies is so inspiring! Thank you all so much for sharing, especially when you find it hard to share. Yesterday I didn't feel like working out but I did because of you guys, not to mention today was weigh in day, and I'm DOWN!!!!!! YEEEEE HAAAAAAAA. So for me it's the support, the motivation, and the encouragement. But most of all it's the new "friendships" we make! Shout out to my WONDERFUL team mates (Kaesize6 and TIffany 517) You girls are awesome! GO TEAM BLUE!

I echo what Rhonda said! This group has kept me so on track, it's unbelievable! I only lost 1 pound this week, but it's a solid and well-deserved one pound. Whenever I think about skipping a workout or grabbing a box of cookies at the grocery store, I remember my wonderful yellow team and how much I want to contribute to the team's goals!

QOTD Saturday October 1- Today marks the end of week 1. How has being in the star challenge affected your journey this week?

This challenge has help me get back involved with MFP and has reminded me why I love this website and the people on here so much. You all inspire me everyday to be a better person. I love reading your stories and sharing a little piece of myself with you everyday. For the first time in 3 mos I worked out 3 times this week. That is huge. I'm so grateful that you ladies have decided to participate in this challenge.

    Thank you again xo:flowerforyou:

This has been a great week for me and I also want to thank Starsnyc21 for setting up this challenge and for being a fabulous partner!. The challenge has spurred me on to exercise every morning during the week and really sweat it. I didn't cheat once and tracked everything I ate & drank. I've enjoyed reading food diaries and seeing just hard everyone else is working out..it's inspiring!

QOTD Friday 9/30/11: When do you find that you are at your weakest point during your weight loss journey. How do you get around it? What ARE your weakest points?

My weakest point in my journey is before I begin. When I finally get started, I do pretty well at sticking to it, but getting started is the hard part! I also have to be careful about not getting to lazy about exercise. I am the type of person that I do it ALL to the best of my ability or give up completely. So far I have been doing well at maintaining my current level of activity!

QOTD Saturday October 1- Today marks the end of week 1. How has being in the star challenge affected your journey this week?

Being in the MFP Stars Challenge has really helped me to connect more with fellow MFP members. I really like that we were paired into partners, because it is easy to get lost in the masses, especially if you are not the most skilled socially. I also like the QOTD because it helps to see how others are traveling their road on this journey.
  • Hi, ladies! Sorry about yesterday! Here are my two days worth of questions! (:

QOTD Friday 9/30/11: When do you find that you are at your weakest point during your weight loss journey. How do you get around it? What ARE your weakest points?

I have a wonderful team and partner that will help push me through everything. They have been very supportive in my journey. Also, all of you inspire me when I'm feeling down. It's always the worst when I'm bored. I'm not too much of an emotional eater, but boredom is my weakness. I've tried to occupy myself with school work, or whatever else I can find.

QOTD Saturday October 1- Today marks the end of week 1. How has being in the star challenge affected your journey this week?

Reading all of the posts from you ladies really are motivating and helpful with keeping me on track!

i've only just started my weight loss journey so have nothing to compare it to other than failed diets!! however i know that with everything going on in my life atm it would have been so easy to slip back and slink away. i couldnt have stayed on track nearly so well with out mfp and all the support and encouragement i got from everyone here. it has really kept my spirits up and kept me focused.

I look forward to logging in to see what the QOTD is and to see how my fellow challenge participants are doing. The questions engage your thought processes about your journey each and every day. The challange has been a great way to make new friends especially for this newbie. Committing to a challange gives you something to shoot for with like minded people who are supportive regardless of team color. Having a teammate really makes you think about your responsibility to the success of the team. Can't wait to see what is in store for the next 8 weeks.

I'm sorry I am answering this so late. We are traveling.

I don't cook but I was given this one recipe at a weight watchers meeting last year, and I LOVE it. Okay-so I forgot the exact amounts. You'll have to play with it.

    -canned pumpkin
-sugar free fat free vanilla pudding
    -fat free cool whip

Mix it together and add some cinammon on top, and you have a pumpkin mousse! Just play with the amounts and go with less pumpkin than pudding.

QOTD Friday 9/30/11: When do you find that you are at your weakest point during your weight loss journey. How do you get around it? What ARE your weakest points?

My weakest point is when I feel overwhelmed by my life. When I hear possible bad news about my baby or when she is having a hard day is when I am weak and want to eat to dull the fear.

I haven't gotten around it lately. This week I have been trying to see the end goal, and how taking weight loss off my plate in the future will be one less stressor for me.

I am a little behind. We have family here so it has been hard for me to get on.

I am at my weakest point when it is my time of the month. I crave a lot of sweets!! My weakness is sweets for sure. The only way I can over come it is to not have it in the house.

QOTD Saturday October 1- Today marks the end of week 1. How has being in the star challenge affected your journey this week?

I have met new friends and I think it has really helped me to have a team buddy. Sarah and I have been pretty committed messaging each other and giving each other support. I also feel that being on a challenge group has helped be accountable. Although I have not lost much this week, being on this challenge has kept me going and wanting to strive to do better.

Great question! Well I have been so focused this week. If I even thought about going off plan I stopped and thought but what about my team - what would they do or what would they say and I knew that I would be encouraged not to lose focus.
This has been a great week and I am really looking forward to the weeks to come as we all get closer to being new STARS!

Thank you all for your support and encouragement!!

QOTD Saturday October 1- Today marks the end of week 1. How has being in the star challenge affected your journey this week?

It has been a big help because I don't want to let my partner down! So I am trying extra hard these days to make good choices and when I do make bad ones I just try to limit them and move on. Without a partner I would most likely give up on the whole day if I made one bad choice. And the support has been so great!

It's helped me to be more focused and to make it more of a priority to track consistenly. Plus it's given me a push to want to workout daily and not drag my team down. I committed and want to hold up my end of the bargain. I love the accountability and my team mate is freaking awesome! It's nice having some outside support.

Here's to another great week to come!

QOTD Friday 9/30/11: When do you find that you are at your weakest point during your weight loss journey. How do you get around it? What ARE your weakest points?

I am at my weakest points during te weekends when I get around my friends. Sometimes I seem to fall back into bad eating habits. I am also at weak points when I get depressed about other areas of my life.

I get around it by staying positive and using my weight loss to inspire other parts of my life. Today I brougt my own cooler so I didn't eat bad all day. I just ate one meal like tat.

My weakest points are definitely some of my friends and my family.

QOTH: 10/1/2011: How has this challenge really affected your life?
I feel like I have to do well because I ave someone depending on. me. It also feels good to have someone to talk about this journey with that I know is going through the same thing. I have support.
I feel like I have to work harder.

I've really enjoyed the communication and having like-minded people to encourage one another daily. It motivates me to get little "nice jobs, etc..." when I post an exercise or stay under in my calories. I also enjoy sending messages to my partner. This challenge is fantastic!
