Good Job! To the winners this week!0

Congrats to the biggest losers this week. Thanks for the awesome chart Kristen. Great challenge. I've been doing several sit-ups every day for a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll up the # by 20. Cograts to all the losers too. Even if it's slow, we it shouldn't matter, right? It's all about the lifestyle change (although it's nice to see the # go down).0

Awesome job everyone who is sticking with this challenge that is a great accomplishment in itself. Whether your losing, maintaining, or gaining your here trying to improve!!! Keep up the great work!!
To all the biggest losers this week congrats on a great job this week!!!
Nice challenge this week!!
Today was day 2 of my new job and I must say I am enjoying it thus far!! Just have to plan better for my workouts and everything!!0 -
Thanks for all of the nice comments about the chart every week. :-)
I must confess, it is easier for me to be on the elliptical for 55 minutes, and the treadmill for 70 minutes (at a 5 - 6% incline), all during the same workout session, than it is for me to do the 20 jumping jacks. This 50 year old body just doesn't like jarring movement like that anymore. ;-) I'm doing them though! Thanks, julidav, for giving us the challenges this week!
Why the heck am I exercising that much, you say? I've really been wanting to have a serious cheat day for AWHILE. I thought about breaking it up but decided not to. So I made an agreement with myself. If I went and ate like that, I would burn between 5000 - 6000 calories this week to make up for what I ate. And I would up my water to flush it out also. So, on Sunday, I happily ate like a glutton. And now I'm paying, and paying, for it. ;-) Next time, I'd rather have one cheat meal, and just burn the calories from that, instead of a whole day's worth. :-)0 -

I love your chart too! The time you put into it is so appreciated!
Kristen.....Can you really workout for 125 minutes in one session doing both elliptical and treadmill? That would kill me! The most I've been able to do is a WATP 5 mile that takes 65 minutes - 2 fast miles + 1 mile w/hand weights + 1 mile w/ab belt +1 milew/stretchie band. My legs can take it, but my arms are so tired afterwards.
And the jumping jacks and sit ups for this challenge? Really hard for this 55 year old body! I'm better at the jumping jacks than I am at the sit ups. Good thing no one is watching me trying to attempt the sit ups! LOL.
But I am proud of myself. I started MFP on 9/1/11 and I haven't missed a day of working out and eating at or just above 1200 calories so far. Feeling great too! Still don't get enough sleep or drink enough water or eat enough fruit....but I'm making progress.
If I haven't already done so, I just want to thank everyone in this Hubba Hubba challenge too. You are all helping to keep me motivated!
Now let's all have a great week and get fit and lose some weight!

Great Challenge for the week. I think I can stick to it. :happy:0
-
I must have missed the challenge of jumping jacks and sit ups.
I work out everyday with either walking, biking or weights right now
for 30 mins everyday. That is all I can handle for this 62 year old body.
I will be doing the Wii Fit Plus when the weather starts to get nasty.
There are a variety of things to do on it. I also have the Sports DVD
just to add some fun to it. Tennis etc.
Keep on going ladies not much more time before Christmas. It will
be here before you know it. :sad:0 -
Hi ya'll.. so many doing GREAT, it's very motivating! Thanks for the jumping jacks/sit up challenge. As an Insanity grad, the jumping jacks are not a challenge (I've been doing 50, but thinking maybe I'll start doing power jacks instead- a combination of a jumping jack with a squat), but I have had to modify the sit ups (I'm doing crunches on the exercise ball- much easier on my back!). I also added 20 pushups, and my hubby is doing those as well (although, of course, he has to do 30, just to do more than I do LOL).
Shirley, I really hope the time to Christmas goes quickly! I just bought my tickets to go to Idaho to visit our son, and I miss him so much it hurts, Christmas can't come quick enough!!

This may sound funny but Im workingout by clearing the fields this week. The apples and pears are everywhere and I have to clear the area especially before it gets to cold or I'll have every animal under my house this winter. The bees are back because this season was the best pollinated harvest we have had in years. On the down side I have fruit everywhere.
Just want you guys to know...You kick Butt!!!! You are the most motivating people I know...this wonderful MFP family!! Keep shredding those pounds!

Big challenge this weekend. I hope to give my weight on Sunday.
It is our Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and we are leaving for
the cottage early Friday morning around 6:00am. No sleeping in
for me:sad:
We tend to consume a fair amount of alcohol so I have to really
watch it. My husband's family likes to drink. :drinker:
And as we know alcohol puts on weight.
So wish me luck that I don't do too bad this weekend with food
and drink.0 -

Pam - I lose more when I don't eat my exercise calories. My calorie limit is set at 1200, which at times feels a little low for me (I'm 5'8" and right now 191#'s.).... I don't panic if I drift up to 1400 on a non exercise day.
So, my ideal loss is when I'm working out, and hitting 1300-1400 calories.
I don't know if that makes any sense!0 -
Pam - What is your daily calorie goal? I don't worry too much about exercise calories. I aim to consume 1200-1400 calories in a given day. I make sure my important nutrients are covered (protein, carbs, fat, fiber, etc). If my net calories are low (net = consumed - exercise) and I'm feeling hungry, it's usually because one of those nutrients is low.. so I eat more! If I'm not hungry and my nutrients are covered, I don't worry about it. Listen to your body... if you're starving and tired and lethargic, eat your exercise calories. If you're truckin' along just fine, then so be it. I'm a firm believer in only you know what's best for your body.0
-
It varies for me. When I first started this I never at y exercise cals back and was set at 1500 and I was losing at a steady pace but after a while that no longer worked for me. I recently upped my cals to 1900 and started losing again but I believe it's good to switch it up and constantly give your body a change. This week I lowered it to 1650. I also go by how I'm feeling. I tried to do te 1400 thing but it just wasn't working out for me; I was constantly hungry and feeling week cause I felt I was restricting myself.0
-
I have lost better when I eat back everything. As long as it is healthy. I love jumpin jacks:)0
-
thanks guys....my calories is set at 1270....i workout a good amount and for the most part i need to eat some calories back to feel good...i just dont loose as fast as i thought i should loose....thanks again:flowerforyou:0
-
I usually eat some of my exercise cals back, but I don't do super high burns either, so it's pretty easy. I am also set at 1500 intake a day, don't know how people can stay at 1200, I'd be eating my leg off, LOL. I don't eat a lot at one sitting, but I pretty much eat every 2-3 hours through out the day.0
-
Whooo HOOO! My scale finally got back down! I lessened my calories this week by 190/day and i'm back down to 205.4. Let's hope that this trend continues througout the weekend!
Enjoy your weekend! I will be watching a friends husband on "Wheel of Fortune" tonight, then visiting her as she is home and i have not seen her in 2 years! Tomorrow I will be walking through the woods for a Grouse hunting tournement!
Have fun!0 -

I don't know about you, but I have been struggling eating healthy this week. I went to mcds Monday eve. to celebrate my weightloss so far. BAD IDEA!!! I really struggled the next couple of days. I had to grip myself and get back to the reality that I made a choice to change those bad habits. I felt miserable those days too, sluggish, tired, bloated etc...I have still been working out so I am still hoping for some weightloss this week. Anyone else?0

I myself haven't eaten the best this week. As I said in another post, I've been at one with nature this week.....(MOTHER nature), which makes me want to eat more. I even went to Pizza Inn for dinner last night. I managed to stay under my calories for the day by doing a pretty large amount of working out....but I"m not really under any delusion that I'll have a loss this week.0 -
Shirley61 - Happy Thanksgiving! Good luck with the food and drink!
Pam3 - Sorry so late on this (I've really not felt well for days)... I don't eat my exercise calories back. What works for me is to eat around 1300 calories but to zig-zag them. A little more some days and a little less other days. I lose better if I'm taking a good multivitamin, drinking plenty of water, and eating food that is homemade versus a packaged diet meal. What's interesting (and I don't know why yet) is I lose the best if I eat my husband's enchilada casserole, with a little sour cream, for several days. I just work my calories, etc. around it. Weird... but tasty! Also, at my weight, 1400 calories is too high for me. Even when I exercise. I tried it for a couple of weeks (in August) and the scale wouldn't budge. I can tell from the responses that you got that different ways really work for different people. :-)
Scarlettdawn764 - LOVE the "scaring" profile pic!
I don't know if I'll be down much for this weigh in either. I had my glutton Sunday last week and I started out fabulous working it off but have had a terrible UTI this week that finally culminated into a fever last night. No exercise yesterday and I'm not going to do any today. But I've already burned over 3000 calories this week, and have been a good girl with my green numbers, so we'll see. I'm just glad that the fever is gone today and that the UTI is finally heading out the door.
Good luck staying the course this weekend!0
