Do you guys weight train along with your cardio?? What do you do??
My eventual goal is to build my muscles... but I'm having trouble getting that started. I *love* lifting weights and my boyfriend lifts 6-7 days a week. He has a home gym in our bedroom (getting ready to be moved to our extra room once the roommate gets his crap out), but some of the lifts he has taught me don't seem to work the muscles he says they do! :grumble: He shows me things to work my back that I feel more in my arms! I dunno... maybe I'm just doing something wrong. :indifferent:0 -
I have a ?. When do you guys send your weight in? Tuesday or Wednesday? I thought it was Wednesday, but I always forget that morning.0

Hey L! I know that when you weight train it's really important to isolate those muscles that you 're working. Really hold the moves, squeeze the muscle, feel the flex & keep resistance throughout the whole rep (both the up & down). You may need to adjust that weight that you use until you can really isolate & feel it working where it should be.0 -
DietTribe is on Lifetime tonight! Enjoy! :flowerforyou:0

Hi all. Sorry to be a bummer but I might have let you alldown this week. Last weekend I don't know what happened. Husband went out, I was in. Started with a sandwich, then two or three, piles of mayo, then his left over pasta and etc... Before I knew it I was way over my calories and had broken my 3 week perfect streak. I have been trying to be good since, but everytime I go on the scale, it shows as a 3 lb gain!!!! Is that possible from one bad night???? I am a little disheartened but hoping that by wed atleast I can reach where I was. I am not going to add the gain right now. I want to wait and see. Hope you all are having a better week!m0

I weighted in this morning and Im not very happy not very at all. Im going ot go back to bed and wish it to go down. So far it looks like i gained. However, its not my normal weigh in time. If so I will be very discourage and disapointed :grumble: But till I wake up at noon I will give everyone the update. So yesterday I worked out to 30day shred level 3 (for the third time) and and then did 20 mins BL cardio and I think it kicked my butt. I think tonight will have to be an off night just because Im feeling muscules I didn't know I had. Ok I will update everyone later. :flowerforyou: Have a great day.0

GOOD MORNING!!
I am so very happy!! I am in the 170's today!! Not only that but I'm almost halfway through my ticker!!
Come on blue team!! Make this day your day & go out there & kick some butt!!:bigsmile:0 -
Hi! Me again!!
I can't seem to locate our challenge thread.. can someone please tell me how to find it or add an attachment in this thread..??? Do we still have a challenge thread??
Thanks!0 -
zahrab: So you had one bad day - but you had 21 good days!! Focus on the positive! Everyone has a bad day once in a while - you move on the next day and make it a better day! I'm guessing it's probably just water weight - between the bread for the sandwich and pasta, that is a lot of carbs, and not that carbs are bad, but they make you retain water! In fact, I bet it'll help shake your metabolism and help you burn more now that you've eaten more one day!
sanifrey: I didn't know we had a separate thread for challenges? I know I've seen some other teams that do...
Well Blues, I spent an hour shoveling snow this morning and burned...*drum roll*....611 calories!! woot woot! :drinker:0 -

So I had to post this morning to see my ticker....I am officially at my half way point....unless I decide to lower my goal weight. I figure when I get there I'll see where I am - the weight I've chosen 149 puts me in the healthy range (high end of it) but several years back I was at 160 and I liked it so I thought 11 pounds less may be just right.....
Here's to halfway :drinker:0 -

Yay!!!! :drinker:
I understand what you mean about maybe lowering your goal weight. I'm honestly not sure what weight I'll be okay with! I have 140 as my goal... but I remember being around 180 and looking much smaller... soooo... maybe 160 or so will be okay for my body. As long as I make it out of the obese category, I'll be happy.
Congratulations on your halfway point. :flowerforyou:0 -

So maybe when I get to 50 pounds I'll change mine to 140 - how tall are you? My daughter is 5 6 and weighs 135 - she's nothing but muscle and VERY lean - too lean for my frame so that's another reason I was thinking a bit higher - oh well we'll see......
I saw the Polar f6 saturday at ****'s I wanted to buy it but I want a treadmill first....0 -

Well the day is almost half over and I'm hoping the rest goes by quickly. I have a RIDICULOUS amount of homework to do tonight and I'm looking forward to getting it all done quickly.
A lady in the SBF challenge said something about rewarding her self with a few bucks for every workout she does and I think that's a great idea! I think I'm going to give myself $0.05 a minute or $3 an hour. I'll keep a jar on my kitchen counter and watch it fill up! I want to save up for those all in one dumbbells that go for around $450 bucks! This will be a great way to start putting a little bit aside while making sure I can budget in the million things I need for my apartment.
Now I'm excited! :happy:0 -

I'm 5'5". What kind of treadmill are you looking at? I've always wanted an elliptical, but I keep talking myself out of spending the $$. And, I have the Polar F6 and it! Isn't ****'s great? Gotta love ****'s!
Sorry. :blushing:  It's funny.0 -

That's an awesome idea! I'm doing something similar. A girl I e-mail on here on a regular basis is putting $5 into a savings account for every pound lost. At the end of her weight-loss, she'll have $$ enough for a new wardrobe! I just started a savings account for that. Had to open it with $100, though, so I'm still waiting to lose that extra 5lb before I add any $$ to it.
And congrats on the apartment. :drinker:0 -
I am looking for a treadmill that has auto incline not manual - heart reate monitor and at least 18" track.... Walmart has a golds gym one fo rless than 400 so that's the one I've been looking at. Hubby is afraid to buy someones "used junk" that will break so can't go the used route. I want to start with an inexpensive one - you know how exercise equipment can collect dust after a while - I don't want to spend $1000 and it sit there so we'll see...still be a little while before I get it. I like treadmill better than elliptical - I feel like I work harder on the treadmill and my daughter runs track so on bad weather days she can still run.
****'s Sporting goods.....
Too funny - I know, I know, get a life.....0 -
Oh! I have another plan to go along with my saving money for exercising! Everytime I get fast food or soda I have to also give my bf the same amount I spent. So if I spend $6 at McD's, I also have to give my bf $6. He'll love that! It'll take the "cheap" thought about fast food out of my head. I can't really afford to spend the $6 let alone $12 for a disgusting and greasy meal! And soda is just a plain waste of money and I never really want it, I drink it for no reason. So that's my plan. Hopefully my exercise jar will be filling up much faster than the fast food/soda penalty jar.
This is fun! :laugh:0 -
Alright everyone I gained a pound :explode: I don't know how this happened. I have been doing everything and the same as I always have and I gained a pound. I can't exercise tonight because Im just plain too sore. There is a part of me that wants to eat everything bad for me right now but Im not going to do that because I know that is not going to help me. To try and help im going to weigh in tomorrow morning and hope that weds. are my better days. Hey maybe I can poop it out by the.
To everyone else that lost weight great job Im very proud of you. :flowerforyou:0 -
j_g don't you dare give up - it's been a really hard month for me - I had lost 40 pounds in less than 4 months then BOOM nothing! I increased my calories a bit and added in cardio - still nothing....well I kept on going because I realized that I feel so much better this way than the "old" way even if I didn't lose anything else - I feel so much better....welll keeping a positive attitude helped and I've lost about 5 pounds over the past few weeks - slower than before but it' still progress and again I feel SO much better than I use to feel!
Here's to working hard when it's hard to work :drinker: :drinker:
Someone gave me a hint to drink a glass of warm water when you first get up - it'll get your bowels flowing!!
So I did level 3 of the 30 day shred today and that's only the second time I've tried it - OUCH! It really kicks my butt!
Been thinking - the P90X commercials talk about muscle confusion - don't really know exactly what that is but it seems like you continuously change things up to keep things going in the right direction - I've been rotating between Biggest Loser Cardio, Walking and 30 day shred - I think I am going to add in something else outside of the biggest loser series since a lot of moves are repeated in each video and level. Maybe that will sort of cause the muscle confusion .....anyone else have thoughts on this or suggestions on a DVD to try??0 -

Thank you so much. I started to cry. I told my husband about a gain and he didn't say a word to me nothing. I won't give up I promise I give you my word sorry for the weight gain this week unless that is I wake up tomorrow and i lost but IM not getting my hopes up. I have also been doing the 30day shred on level three it does get better. I don't even want to go down a level i feel weak then. I do agree however that the BL cardio and 30 days shred to have a lot of same moves however I did find that level 3 on the BL cardio is a little different. After doing 30day shred and 20 mins of BL cardio my butt hurts and so do my sides. So there will be no workout for me today. I have a yearly appointment tomorrow for my yearly jaws of life. I have a list of questions for her and keep on writing down more. She is going to love me. Thanks again for the help.0
