The real name of the "I've fallen and I can't get up" lady is Edith Fore.
  • My real name is Shassy....nickname being Shasslock becuase so many people ask what "Shassy" is short for and well....what in the world would it be short for and so my friend started calling me Shasslock and it stuck.
In other interesting names, I personally know "Virgin", "Placenta", "Abcde" and to top if off "Cialis".

My dad's name is Finis and he has a brother named Doyle. I always thought these were a bit out there, definitely "old school". My middle name is Sue and my maiden name was Young. Say it together fast...everyone thought I was Asian. Which isn't a big deal except that I am 100% Caucasian and it really confused people, esp in high school.

My sister likes unusual spellings, so my nephew is Gaige (with an "i") and my niece is Ryann (pronounced Ryan)

My first name is Tobi... typically a boys name (I'm a girl) - lots of people name their dogs Toby as well. The worst was when I was young the move Roots came out and there is a scene in the movie where a slave is being beaten and the master is telling him is name is now Toby. A lot of kids teased me back then. But now that I'm older and I like my name - I was named after my grandpa - his name was Tobias and they called him Toby for short.

STFU!! Another Tobi!!!! My first name is Tobiann, but I've always been called Tobi (except by my Grandma who has always called me Ann). My dad's nickname is Toby.

Other nicknames for me: Tob, Tobes, Tobster, Tobias, and (for a brief period in college because Baywatch was still pretty big and Hasselhoff's son's name was close enough to be a nickname for me) Hobie.

    Love all of them!

My grandparents on my Dad's side thought this was great:

    Grandpa: Sim Lee
    Dad: Troy Lee
    Uncle: Loy Lee

Why all have the same middle name? Why do my Dad & Uncle have to rhyme? Lol!

Oh, I had a friend (female) in school whose middle name was Lee as well!

I remembered one. A college roommate of mine named her son Theophilus, as in the Biblical name. Who these days names their kid Theophilus?!

My name isn't as unique as it used to be but I don't see it spelled this way much anymore. I'm Mallory Lynn, my mom is Joni Lynn, her mom is Gladys Lynn. :)

My great grandfather (Mom's mom's dad) was named Pink Eugene (as first and middle names).

One of my best friends became an uncle last year. His little brother named his son Zim.... yep, like the video game. And they worked it so that his initials are also ZIM.

In college I had a fencing instructor named Vincent, but we all just called her Vinnie.

I currently work at a place where I see lots of different names (in our data files). I think one of the most unique first names I have encountered is Patchoul. And I've definitely had the thought that they should not allow mothers to name their children while still under the influence of the pain killers used during delivery.

Too true about letting Mother's name the baby while drugged. My Mom wanted to name me Juanita Marie. Beautiful name! However, it wouldn't have fit, I'm 1/4 Native American, Irish, Scottish & a few others... (no, not trying to be racist - just don't think that you should name a child something that is from a culture that they are not part of!)

If I had been a boy, they were considering Tory as a first name. (forget the middle) Yep, would have been made fun of with that one too!

  • My name is Jessamie Lynn. My mom got it from a gothic romance novel she read when she was 14. I've been called Jasmine, Jessica, Jessamine. Really. It's just Jessamie!

My brothers are named Talon Alexander and Granger Mason. We all have unique names and I love it. I was supposed to be Jessica, thank goodness my mom's friend named her daughter that. I know way too many Jessicas!

I have a grandmother named Marty and one named Bivian. My grandpa's name is Lynn, where I got my middle name. My dad is Doyle Eugene, he HATES his middle name, and his parents call him Doyle-Gene. I named my daughter Skye Camryn. I adore her name.

And to top it all off, our last name is Royal =)

My name isn't all that unusual - Cory - but it is almost always a boy's name, especially with that spelling.

That being said, my older sisters got the really original names: Echo and Ayla.

There is a guy in our town that was named 'Rusty' which probably is not that unusual except that his last name is 'Butt' - OMG WHAT were his parents thinking! As an adult he had his name legally changed to Russell.
My sister-in-law dated a guy with the last name Butts. His father's name was Harry.

For a great comedic take on "how not to name your child," check this out:

This is Zilch the Torysteller, a comedic storyteller who works at a lot of Renaissance Faires. He's brilliant.
  • Since my name is so common (Ashley), my daughter's name is Promise. I loved it so that's what she got!

I thought I had such a clever idea when coming up with a middle name for my son. He has three grandpas (Raymond, Ronald and Roger) all of whose names begin with the letter R. So my son's middle name is R. It's all well and good except for one thing. When he fills out an application that asks for his full middle name, it looks like he can't follow directions when he writes the letter R. So at times like that, he has chosen to use Raymond since that is his dad's middle name too.
