love it - i think the bit about intensity is key for me - i am motivated to excerise, eat pretty well, and change things up - but the intensity of my routine is not something i ever looked at - i guess its the really important change i need to make.0

"Are you working out at a high intensity"?
While I am sure there are many helpful points in this article, I wouldn't call it the bible of losing weight. Working out at a high intensity is not only not an option for everyone, but it is not necessary. When I first started here in 2008, I walked. That's it, I walked for 30 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week. Yes I was talking at a quick pace, but I would never call it high intensity. Walking is great cardio, it is easy on your joints and unlike sweating it out in the gym for a couple hours, it can be very enjoyable and something virtually everyone can do.
That's not to say it's a bad idea to work out at a higher intensity if you choose, or perhaps in order to jump start your metabolism again, but working out at a high intensity all the time is not necessary to lose weight, and perhaps one of the main reasons many people aren't motivated to try to lose weight. They think losing weight involves killing themselves at the gym, doing something they do not enjoy at all. Not enjoying a work out = not sticking with it for very long.0 -

That is a great post. I haven't reached a plateau yet. But, I know those are going to happen. I have been saving great ideas that people put on here and inspirational, I copied and pasted it to my things. This way I have things to look at when I get frustrated or down .0

Excellent post! I have noticed during a plateau that I still loose inches without the numbers on the scale ever moving. My doctor said that sometimes your body is simply taking a short break but you can still be burning hard fat deposits and changing it out for muscle during a plateau...and some doctors dont even believe a plateau exist.0

yup yup, just gotta keep pushing along, cause sometimes after that plateau hump you can/will notice a big drop in weeks to come, just dont' starve your body thinking it will help
females - 1200 cals a day
males - 1800 cals a day
any less than that your body goes into starvation mode and can cause massive weight gain so you have to be VERY careful
I never eat back my calories since it takes 3500 burned cals to burn 1lb
I burn on average 600-1200 sometimes more a day thats before my BMR is added on
sodium can cause weight gain (daily intake is 2400mg) if your not getting enough water your body will store what water you give it to make up for that sodium
