How is horse meat different from beef? Has anyone here tried it?

I'm guessing that horses are more intelligent than cattle -- but does a horse somehow have more of a "soul" than cow, or something?

    Hell, I'd try it.

What should it be called? Like, beef is cow, pork is pig. I say we should call it Heef.

It's in the MFP database too, as "Generic - Horse Meat, Raw"

Ok, so I just read up on this. The said horses are already being sent to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered... So if they begin allowing them to be slaughtered in the us, either way the horses have the same fate ( except creating jobs for Americans) also, they are not allocating new tax money to this endeavor, the department of agriculture must pull from current funds in order to pay for this. Also, these horses are old and too weak to work anymore... Plus apparently horse is leaner and has higher protein than lean beef. Most of the meat will be shipped to countries like france... Who already consume horse regularly. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about eating it, but from what I've read it doesn't sound like a terrible thing.
Excuse run on sentences and poor punctuation, I'm on my phone and it's hard to type on the forums on here.

I ate cow tongue and chicken hearts one time. i wouldn't recommend either.

My brother and I used to fight over the chicken heart. Haven't had one in years though, so I don't know if I'd still like it. But beef tonque is delicious.

I'd give a horse burger a try if someone other than McD made it. I don't like anything else McD makes so I doubt I'd go there just to try their newest crap.

Why is eating horse such a bad thing? We have no problems eating cows, pigs, turtles, rabbits, deer, sheep, chocolate rabbits, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, fish, crabs, bison, ostrich plus various other birds, frogs, gummy worms, and the list can can go on and on. But horse eww!

I'll try just about anyone once. More than once if I like it. Horse doesn't seem anymore unusual than cow. I eat cow all the time.

It supposedly tastes like a cross between beef and venison... High in protein and low in fat. How do you know it's disgusting if you haven't tried it?
