I feel so accomplished. I had but $24 in my bank account and I used $10 to pump gas in my car and $12 at the best grocery store EVER: Trader Joe's!

I bought:
Flax Seed Bread - the only bread I use for sandwiches and toast now. It has no flour & only 50 cals a slice!
Chicken Breasts
Bananas
and
Guacamole hummus - which I can't wait to try on my chicken sandwich tomorrow *drools*

I typically also buy (at TJ's):
eggs
OJ
mushrooms
greek yogurt
lettuce
and some frozen dinners

What are your favorite TJ's products?

Pumpkin Spice granola, Granola and the 3 berries... pretty much all the TJ brand granola. I love mixing it it with Fage total 0%
    Fat-free cottage cheese
    lemon curd with multi-grain waffles
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE at the moment: puff pastry margherita--only 190 cals per serving or 380 if you're a fatty like me and eat the whole pizza

oooo flax seed bread!! I'll have to try that. My faves are:
Their organic hummus with the green lid. My ABSOLUTE favorite. Way better than Athenos or Sabra I think.
    Stone ground wheat crackers
    no guilt brownie mix
    frozen berry mixes
    cheese ravioli
    raspberry preserves
    EVERYTHING!!

Nice bargain spending, btw! I totally know the feeling

    LOVE Trader Joes!

When I go there, I usually get a variety of hummus, pre-cooked lentils, dried fruits, Hansen's Diet Sodas, soy milk, nuts, and those crispy sugar snap pea snacks! So good!

I am addicted to the Habanero and lime salsa. go through a jar a week. and I live 1 hr drive from TJ's . I also use the 21 seasoning salute on everything. My friends all know if they are anywhere near TJ's they must bring me salsa. There is a rumor ( been on the news) that we are getting a TJ's in town. But they only just started building the shopping center where it is going to be. I am guess ing 2 years . The oatmeal is wonderful. Great tip on the flax bread, I will be looking for that my next trip. An apple walks into a bar ( blueberry, strawberry, fig) those are fun. And Yum the cornbread mix.

No, It is NOT like whole foods. Trader Joe's is a health food store that sells stuff for GREAT prices. The reason is everything they sell is there own brand name. They do not advertise. If you are ever anywhere near one you must go in and wander the isles. It is a different experience.

There is so much - here is a few of my faves that have yet to be mentioned

    Ginger People Ginger Chews
    Omega Trek Mix

    Garlic Chipolte Salsa (jar)
    Pineapple Salsa (jar)
Both these salsa's are great on fish and chicken
    Pumpkin Butter
    Fig Butter
Low Fat frozen french toast (an occasional treat)
    Mint Mouthfuls
Lots of their soups - right now the Beef Barley with veggies
    All their hummus
Prepared fresh Rosemary chicken breast with wild rice pilaf

Indeed, the primary source for all my groceries!
Eggplant Hummus (only 35 cals for 2 TBLS so it goes on nearly everything lol!)
Vanilla yogurt with almonds to add in - omg!
    Honeycrisp apples - amazing
Multi-grain English muffins - the whole thing for 160 cals with tons of fiber
Pumpkin cream cheese & Laughing Cow blue cheese - for those fatty treats with lower cals
Reduced-Guilt Pizza - 250 cals for the whole thing!
    Soy-Ginger Cod (frozen) - *drool*
Rice Medley (frozen) - yes, I know frozen rice sounds weird but it steams in the bag and is fab - no white enriched grains!
...and because I simply enjoy a glass of red wine, the selection and prices are outstanding!!!

Some of my friends think TJ's is pricey. I have a theory about that... If you are feeding more than two people, yes, you could probably get better deals with value-packs at supermarkets. For me though, this place is heaven

I couldn't survive without these Trader Joe's staples:

Eggplant Hummus (half the fat and calories of regular hummus and it's AMAZING)
Spicy Ranchero Eggwhite Salad (even my 10 year old son loves this)
Simply Turkey Breast (already cooked and sliced and ready to eat!)
Bruschetta Sauce (red/white/green container) ... it goes on everything!
    Microwavable Brussel Sprouts
Brown rice (already cooked, just steam in the bag for 90 seconds)
Organic Split Pea Soup (150 cals for the whole can)
    Refried Black Beans with Jalepanos
    Turkey Breast Tenders
Chicken Jalepano Sausage (100 cal a link and they are the size of italian sausages)
    Raw Almonds in individual bags

Oh, I could go on and on ... lol

I wish there was a Trader Joe's down where I am... I went to one while I was out of town and it definitely seemed like the kinda place where I'd get most of my groceries at.

I drive 2 hours to do my Trader Joe's shopping!

--Uncured Turkey Bacon--nice and thick, you'll never consider Louis Rich or Butterball again. Applegate Farms brand is comparable, but generally $1 more per pkg
--Country Choice OrgainicMulti-grain hot cereal--Since it is not a TJ brand, I've seen it in other places. I like this better than just oatmeal. Quaker makes a similar product in a yellow container I've seen at Publix.
    --Frozen blueberries
    --Frozen mango
    --Olive oil
    --Multi-grain thins
--0% greek yogurt in plain or vanilla large tub
--Single serve 0% greek yogurt in blueberry, pomegranate
    --Peach gel cups
    --Bag salad/spinach
    --Frozen edamame in shell
    --Pistachios
--Cranberry/almond/cashew Trek Mix in single serve bag
    --Fresh Skim Mozzarella sticks
--***Seasonal favorite*** Cranberry goat cheese log
    --Goat cheese crumbles
    --Tomato and Basil feta cheese

and the list really goes on…but those are the "staples"

Mango Lassi ( a mango yogurt smoothie )
    Jalapeno Cilantro Hummus
Fruit Leather or fruit & fiber Ends & Pieces (mixed bag of all different flavors and cheaper than the individual bars - stock up when you see it because they don't always have it!)
Frozen pre-cooked chicken breast strips (great on salad)
Multi-grain mix (quinoi, rice, lentils, couscous, and I forget what else, but really great)
    Multi-grain o's cereal
organic yogurt (ALL their yogurt items are good)
    low-fat string cheese
Israeli feta (worth paying more than their store brand, it's sooo good for Greek salads)
Freeze-dried fruit (strawberries are my favorites, especially with cereal)
All their Frozen Indian meals (fairly healthy for frozen meals, a little bit spicy, very good for quick lunches at work)
100-calorie chocolate bars (it's really good chocolate and helps a lot with portion control)
frozen chocolate-covered banana pieces (just 1 or 2 little pieces really help satisfy a chocolate craving)
fruit snacks (basically chopped up bits of fruit leather, these are my toddler's favorite thing ever and not loaded with corn syrup like other fruit snacks)
    all their granola bars
whole wheat pizza dough (refrigerated) - haven't found a topping yet that wasn't good with this
broccoli slaw (great alone, as a slaw, on salad, or stir-fried with a little sesame oil, garlic, and ginger)
persian cucumbers (they're small so can cut one up for a perfect size snack with any of their hummus flavors)
sicilian chicken sausage (great low-fat substitute for italian sausage in recipes)
marinara sauce (love this over baked zucchini with some grated romano)
    black bean soup
champagne vinaigrette dressing (and it makes the best chicken marinade ever)
all their frozen fruits (for smoothies, topping hot oatmeal or baking in muffins)
    snapea crisps (caution: addictive!)
quick cook steel cut oats (don't have to wait 45 minutes for steel cut oats)
    black forest ham
    rosemary ham
chicken cilantro mini wontons (alone or in some of their chicken broth as soup)

and tons more... i always end up getting good stuff that's not on my list that looks interesting to try.

only drawback - they keep getting rid of some of the stuff I love the most, like the onigiri!

I go in and straight to the pizza dough and back out again (for my kids pizza).... Nothing there seems to grab my attention. I wish it did. Many people don't have a Trader Joe's and I dont appreciate mine :(

Black Mission Figs. These are WAY better than other figs. They have less seeds, aren't as sugary sweet, and are super moist. LOVE THOSE THINGS!!!!!

Their brown rice pasta is pretty decent too for you Gluten Free people!

LOVE their flax seed tortilla chips as well.
