    High Tension.

The worst, most pointless, most piece of garbage twist ending ever filmed.

I liked this movie... but i'm a little sick and twisted

The rest of the movie was awesome. The ending itself was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I'm trying not to spoil it for anyone who actually cares because most of the movie really is awesome, but the end... pointless plot twist that is not in the least bit plausible.

And "Wicker Man" with Nicholas Cage. That movie was just stupid the whole way through though...I've given up on that guy.

    Could not agree more!!

The one where denzel Washington is hunting down a demon, and he gets himself possessed and kills himself in the woods to kill the demon, and it gets away in a stupid lynx. Arrgghhhh!!!

Fallen...I loved that entire movie, even the end. Kind of cool to see that good doesn't always win in the movies (Lord knows it doesn't in real life).

    No Country for Old Men
The movie quit at the motel swimming pool part…I was so looking forward to a final showdown…but nothing.

I adored the end of No Country, there was a lot of vocal *****ing in the cinema when I saw it.....

I'd say Bug. The whole movie was stupid really. At first you might think something interesting's about to happen. Nope. Just more crap.

If given the chance, I will always watch the ending of a movie first, and then go back and watch it from the beginning. My theory is - if the ending looks like it sucks (even without knowing what the movie is about) I can then watch from the beginning, keeping in mind the ending - like not getting attached to a charachter who doesn't get to live happily ever after.

Case in point - The Departed. ~great~ movie, but if I didn't know the end when i watched the whole thing, the ending would have pissed me off. The departed was my "worst ending ever" movie. But I think we got a new winner!

The Mist. Admittedly not the greatest creature flick. The ending, however, wow, I can't even put it into words. It's heartbreaking. I was stunned. I sat there just a little shocked waching the credits roll. Did that really just happen??

Does anyone have any other contenders?

You nailed it, It's The Mist!!!

I wanted to punch my TV. I thought it was a good movie, but the ending has haunted me ever since.

Mystic River. I thought it was so great until the last 10 minutes, at which time it was like Clint Eastwood had a stroke but decided to keep on directing the movie. I just kept thinking "what the hell is this all about?"

    "The Perfect Storm"
Hey, let's spend two hours watching how these brave men conquer their struggles at sea only to have them all drown at the end.

    Really?

That's a good one for the list too. Horrible.

OK, y'all know that was a true story, right? It's not like they could change the ending.
Exactly...that would be like hoping the Titanic might miss the iceberg....

A few others mentioned this one...and I also hated it..."No Country for Old Men"

I immediately thought of the Departed as well. I love that movie, all except the ending that is. And Lord of the Rings goes on and on with their ending.

same thing I was gonna say...also as much as I love Star Wars The Ewok dance scene at the end of Return of the Jedi was pretty lame!

Prison Break. So we have seasons of daring and close shaves, building up the undefeatable hero....taa-DUM! He dies. So not cool.
    And of course - Castaway.

Sommersby (Jodie Foster & Richard Gere) and Braveheart (Mel Gibson) So depressing! I will watch everything except the last 5 minutes.

PRETTY WOMAN -- 'And she rescues him right back!' The writers could have done better with that last line.

    Old Yeller.
  • Ten Inch Hero. Don't worry, it's not porn!
It's pretty much about this alternative guy, piercings, tattoos, funny coloured mohawk, who falls in love with his slutty yet gorgeous co-worker. He doesn't try anything because she has made it pretty clear she isn't interested unless you're the perfect example of male model. At the end of the film, after being very 'I shouldn't have to change myself for a woman & neither should anyone else' for the entire film, he changes himself. For her.
    SO ANNOYING.
But it's an amazing film other than that so~ I forgive them.
  • Knowing. it seemed like a good enough movie at the start, guy finds a list of numbers that predict the date and location of disasters, tries to find a way to stop future disasters happening, then aliens come and take his son away and the sun eats the Earth.... um WHAT? sorry if I spoiled it for anyone, but believe me, I'm doing you a huge favour lol do not watch it.

I agree! It started out great. That ending was strange!

500 Days of Summer. I was rolling right along with them until she's all, "Yeah, I went ahead and got married because I thought I was against marriage when really I just didn't want to marry YOU." What a b.
  • I really liked "The Departed". It was one of my favorites, and everybody dies! I do wish they had kept the good guy, a/k/a Leonardo...... I haven't seen "The Mist."

I know I've seen movies with endings that sucked, but I just can't think of them right now. ..... Himmmmm...... :noway: :ohwell:

YES!!!!! WORST EVER!!!!! And WTF was with the Rabbits? What are the kids supposed to save all of humanity by doing what the rabbits do ;-) ;-) LOL
  • Oh yeah......... 28 Days Later.... I HATE that movie. AND "I AM LEGEND" bought the damn thing and it SUCKED! I can't stand zombie-ish movies though, I guess. Scared it could really happen one day, maybe?
  • Dumb and Dumber...why shouldn't Lloyd wind up with Mary?!

Love it! He definitely should've gotten the girl!
  • Another one... The Pledge with Jack Nicholson.
  • Atonement. Left me feeling sad and angry that I even watched the movie.

I absolutely loved Atonement, but the end was so heartbreaking. The scene at the very end where the two of them are running around on the beach being happy, and you know it never actually happened... that was crushing. But I don't think that makes it a bad movie.

I don't see a sad ending as a bad ending - to me a bad ending is one that makes me feel annoyed like I wasted my time, want my $ back from the theater bad.

I wasn't saying that it's a BAD ending. I'm actually a bit confused by some of the posts in this thread... some people seem to have trouble with endings that don't explain absolutely everything, like it's a crime for the filmmaker to want to make the audience THINK after they leave the theatre and come up with their own ideas and conclusions.
