oof! i knew i was going to pick up the dress after the final fitting tonight so i made myself go for a long run/walk this morning and then wrapped up the afternoon with some pool weights and about 15 minutes of laps.
the bad news? my dress is still pretty darn tight!!!! i have been eating wicked healthily all week and am absolutely LOVING my workout time this vacation. and i really, really want to continue along this road once i get home (in four days).
i have NO excuses and LOTS of motivation. i can slim down and get leaner in 2 months, right? right. (i hope, i hope, i hope...)
good night and have a great weekend!

What's everyone up to this Saturday? I got up early and hit the treadmill for my 7 mile run. 9 weeks until my half marathon! Feeling great after fueling up w/ my power oatmeal and coffee (black of course). Will do Ab Ripper X w/ my hubby later! Keep it clean this weekend!

    You go myastyme!!!!!:drinker:

Well I got new tennis shoes and they are great I have a few issues I have to break in but that is with all new shoes right! I have very wide and fat feet. I wish I could lose in my feet on top. I have lost on the bottom almost all the padding is gone on the bottom. Ugh! I got two pair they are Nike Dart VI. They have great support and so far I have not had to use my inserts from my podiatrist with them so I hope that continues. I cannot walk long distances withthe inserts because they make my feet slide into the toes of the shoes from the slant they make but they are good for standing. I got black for everyday use and silver too! They were BOGO 50% off at Rack Room. So now I can walk outside again and the weather here is fantabulous! 70's and sunny with a little breeze to keep you cool when walking. :drinker:

I have to pack the apt this weekend and next and get rid of a bunch of junk :frown: so I will def get some exercise these next two weekends. We are moving to a 2nd floor apt so I see stairs in my future and for some weird reason I am happy about it.:noway: Me happy about stairs I must have hit my head or something. Still plateaud on weight going on 3 weeks now but better than a gain. My trainer and some coaches I know keep telling me to stick with it that my body will give eventually. This is the point where I usually give up because I feel following the diet is useless, then I stop all the eating 6 times and my calories go down and I start gaining so I have commited to not doing that this time. Like I said maintaining is better than gaining and I am healthier this way. Thanks for the encouragement and PM's you all are great!!!!:flowerforyou: :drinker:

It's a gorgeous day outside here in Phoenix. I'm off to do a hike and then back home later to do Plyometrics!!!:glasses:
  • Rise and shine everyone! I had hw to do this morning, so I'm going to exercise later. It's cloudy here or I would take the dogs to the park. I think I'm going to do Bob's Cardio Max workout, but I might just end up going for a jog. Hmm...
Also, my bikini is on back order. I'm so bummed, but that just means I'll look better in in when it arrives. =]
Be by later maybe to post. Have a great day everyone!

i went for a long run/walk this morning in the hot hot hot florida sun! i also stopped by the gym while i was out and did some weight work plus some treadmilling with weights. (a grand total of about 1.5 hours of "work")
my arms are the weakest part of my body - i've never managed even one littel pullup - but my goal is to change all that.
my dress is hanging here in the living room where i can admire it as i eat fresh pineapple, broccoli and lean chicken for lunch - what a motivator!
i'm a little concerned about my food/caloric intake the past week - it's been hovering around 1100-1200 which i think is too low, but i'm always over on my protein. i think i just need to add in some more veggies?
now i am headed to the pool with my water weights for some laps and lounging.
hope everyone else is getting some fresh, fun outdoor excercise as well!

Pull ups are so hard! I struggle with them as well. The park near my house has push up bars, pull up bars, etc basically little exercise helpers along the runners path, and I still can't do very many of them.
Maybe that;s a goal that we should both aim for. =]
I LOVE that you've hung your dress right in the living room as a constant reminder! That is a really great idea. Maybe I should do the same when my bikini arrives?
You've already logged a huge chunk of exercise in today. Great work!

  • Oops I forgot to post my exercise. I did an On Demand Cardio workout with my hand weights, and then jogged. It was good overall workout. =]

I have a calorie question though. Since I'm trying to lose weight, should I eat the exercise calories that I burn? Right now I have ALOT of calories left for the day, but I don't think I should or feel like eating that much today. Some people say to eat the calories back, and others say not to. I was hoping for a little clarity. Thanks guys!

How do you like Turbo Jam? I've always been curious about it, but I can't handle any complicated steps. Is it pretty easy to pick up the dance moves? I've done aerobics classes in the past and have always been the village idiot in the room-I'm the person going to the right when everyone else is moving to the left.

Well I certainly feel like a Brought it this morning. I am feeling very tired and slightly discouraged. I completed my first day of week 4 of Couch to 5K this morning then did another 25min cardio. But I found the Couch 2 5K run very hard. I was on the Treadmill for a change today, but only running at 7km/h which is very slow. My heart rate was up in the mid-high 160s and peaking at 172bpm during the runs though. It's hard to imagine being able to complete week 5 at this point of time :( I know I have 2 more runs this week, so maybe I'll surpise myself but I don't think so.

Also my weight isn't moving this week. It's been my TOM, but still some progress for this hard work would be good!

Hi everyone. It's exciting to read about everyone's progress! Good job!!

I am really really happy to report that I am back down to 133 lb. You might remember I gained almost 5 pounds in a week somehow, from 132.8 to 137. But now it evened back out and I am ready to keep losing!!!

Here is an accomplishment: Last night I was doing the Making the Cut workout with my friend at the gym, and part of some of the routines say "Dips... perform to muscle failure." That's when you grip two bars by your side and lower yourself down and come back up, kind of the opposite of a pull-up or a chin-up. Well for the past couple routines where it's said to do dips, I've been able to do 5... but yesterday all of a sudden I could do 10!!! :) I feel so much stronger.

Tonight my boyfriend and I are going to an awards dinner for his job, the theme is Black and White and I'm wearing a black and white dress from White House Black Market. He told me this morning that I look skinny and petite and he can't wait to see me in the dress. I am really hoping I look slim!!! I will have to take a picture and post it.

This morning I found a calorie log I kept in the summer of 2006, when I went from 135 to 125. It was inspiring and I think I can do it again!!! Except I ate *way too few* calories some days, and now I want to do it the healthy way. But M you've helped me see that maybe I don't need as many as I thought, and seeing the book reminded me that the only way I manage to lose weight is to really watch the calories, so I'm keeping them to 1400, even when I work out (unless I work out *lots* and really need the extra energy). I've found that eating 1400 is fine, I don't feel famished, I have strength to do my workouts, and I manage to lose weight.

I had Kashi 7 grain puffed rice cereal (how do they manage to fit in all that yumminess in those few calories???) for breakfast with half a scoop of whey protein, 1 banana, and 1/2 cup skim milk. I just ate one piece of whole wheat toast (M, I used to eat a sandwich for lunch but to reduce my carbs I've just been using one piece of bread and having an open-faced toasted sandwich -- I think it's helped) with 7 slices of turkey and chicken lunchmeat, 1 ounce part skim mozarella cheese, chopped red and green bell peppers and roma tomato, and 8 sprays of Wishbone Italian Spritzer salad dressing. I've found that this is the perfect lunch that combines complex carbs, protein, dairy and veggies. I'm about to have a peach and go for a long run with my dog!! Then tonight at the dinner I'll have chicken or fish and salad. I've eaten less today to save up for the dinner and I may have one or two drinks but at the moment I totally don't feel like it. It feels so good to be healthy. I can't wait to go run outside!!!

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

    Miss Resa,

I LOVE TurboJam! I'm not exactly queen of coordination either, but it's still really fun and burns a ton of calories. As Chalene says, mistakes burn calories too! I usually burn 500-650 in an hour of TJ and my heart stays up near 170 the entire workout ( I use weighted gloves too). I haven't done TJ in about 6 months, but last night I was dreading CardioX (I find that one to be the weakest because it's slow and I only burn 350 calories) so I decided to sub in some TJ at the recommendation of my BB coach. Well, last night reminded me why I LOVE it! If you like KenpoX, you'll love TJ. Yes, it's a bit more dancey, and some of the people are a little cheesy, but it's still fun!

I try to do doubles on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) because I have more time, and I figure if I have the energy, why not? I do doubles on Mondays and Wednesdays sometimes too. I've just been really motivated by everyone here and I want to look my absolute best this summer (and for the rest of my life:wink: )

I'm basically a BB addict, except Hip Hop Abs didn't do it for me because it was a bit slow. I heard Rockin' Body rules though! My next 12 week round will likely be Chalean Extreme. I'll graduate from P90X lean on April 19th, and after that I'll decide if I'm going to do P90X classic or do a different set for a change. Right now I'm motivated to get back into TJ and I can't wait to start running when it warms up outside (I used to hate running and I find it hilarious that I am itching to run now!).

You should try it MissResa. It is more cardio based, but it actually makes me like cardio.

    Osmium,

I'm running into the same problem with TOM and no weight drop, but I can still feel the changes happening! I have a feeling that once it's over you'll see a huge drop. I am going to have to look into the Couch 2 5K that everyone keeps talking about. I don't have a treadmill or gym membership so I might have to stop by the rec center on campus after classes soon. You can do it!

    Neeterskeeter!

I figured you would drop right back down to 132 pretty fast. Tricep dips eh? Those are killer but I've been getting better at them too. I love it when I make huge gains in short periods of time like I am with my push-ups. My arms are starting to look good! I just need to cut some more body fat and they'd be hot!

Have fun at the awards dinner tonight! You better take some pics and post them because we'll be watching for them! Actually, I think that we should all start taking progress pics. Pictures are the best way to see your progress as others see it. How about every 30 days? Actually, my 30 day photos from P90X disappointed me, which motivated me to start logging all the calories and join this site! Changes are happening all over the place now and I'm excited to take day 60s here soon.

The reason I don't think I need as many calories as I originally thought is because someone from BB was doing doubles (2 hours of workouts a day) and she keeps her calories at 1400 a day. She is also ripped! While I don't necessarily want to be ripped, that made me think twice about my caloric intake. Her husband also only eats around 2000 calories per day, and he is also ripped. They said keep it simple and keep it clean. Once you learn to listen to your body cues, you know if you really need to eat or not. If you're bonking during your workouts, then you need to bump it up by 200 or so, but if you're losing weight and body fat, and also have enough energy to do your workouts at full intensity, you're eating enough. Also, if you're getting sufficient protein, you're muscles have the nutrients they need to repair and recover. I don't think staying at 1400 will send your body into starvation mode; I eat every 3 hours, 6 times per day and my body has come to expect food at those times. I feel great! Today at Bergner's I was trying on clothes and realized that I actually liked the way my body was looking!

That being said, I am of the school of "You DON'T need to eat all of your exercise calories." In fact, I eat almost none of mine back. Last night I decided that I was going to try to bump up my daily calorie burn to 1000 per day to create a bigger deficit, so probably 1.5-2 hours of exercise per day.

I don't necessarily think eating bread is bad; in fact, I do LOVE some whole grain, really gritty bread every now and then. But now is crunch time for me, and bread really doesn't have a place right now. And I don't miss it. The articles I've read about how bodybuilders reduce fat (their cutting phase) say they do it by reducing carbs. Then when they're bulking, they up their carbs to put on some muscle mass (closer to an athletic diet). It's pretty difficult to do both at the same time, but P90X is probably the closest you can come with an at-home fitness program. When I drop some more body fat and start running (hopefully daily) I will probably bump up my carbs a little bit. That lunch sounds yummy. I LOVE tomatoes and bell peppers.

So, Progress Pics team? Let's see 'em!

Just finished Legs and BackX, will do TJ later.

Thanks, Mgullette, for the info. I am going to do another round of P90X after I finish, but I would love to do something extra for cardio, because I know that's one of my weaknesses. I switched from the Lean program to the Classic, because I wanted some harder cardio rather than just CardioX. Plyometrics is no joke!!! But it definitely sounds like I should try out some of the other BB workouts...

Yeah, even though I am doing Lean, I do Plyo instead of CardioX sometimes. The other night I made myself repeat the Plyo and Core Syn sections of CardioX just to make it longer. I think I got my calorie burn up to 550 then...but it took me Bringing IT really hard in the plyo section. I do love Plyo, but not too often because I don't want to hurt my knees...

Holy crap, you make me feel like a weenie!!! I am very proud of the fact that I was able to complete plyo the first time I had tried it, because I quit smoking last year and I know for a fact I would have passed out if I had tried it back then. I don't think I could repeat anything like that, except maybe Kenpo... That's over with way too soon for my tastes.

  • I don't get on the scale during my TOM. In the past my weight would increase during TOM or just stay the same, and that would disappoint me. TOM is here now, so I won't weigh myself until it's over. I'm staying on track with my eating and my fitness though, so I know I will see a weight decrease when this is over. =]

i just wanted to say (read: yell at the top of my lungs) that i have lost 3 whole pounds this vacation.
i know all about weight fluctuations and how i will probably put some pounds back on when i gain more muscle, but for now... yea!!!
i have some (totally unatractive) butt pics that i took back in december when i first started my running program (which sadly fizzled out in less than two weeks). i'll try to find them to post when i get home - i definitely want to compare then to now because i am feeling so much better/stronger!
i can't remember my goals exactly, but i am down to 137.5 with my goal being between 129 and 133-ish. (but mostly i just want to be leaner. and fit into my dress. :blushing: )
