I haven't raced it, but when I run it at home, my 5k hill run (little hills!) takes about 35 minutes. Sad and slow, I am. But I will get faster!

The only 5k I've ever done was walking.... it was a run/walk deal, so my time is much slower. 47:16 for my first try :)

I think these posts are inspiring me to push myself extra hard to get under 30 minutes.
Outside time. I hate runnning on a treadmill. So boring!

My first 5K was in December 2009. I could not run the entire race, I finished in 41:53 @ a 13:28 pace.

In November, my latest 5K, I completed the race 3rd in my age group (it was a small race field). Unchipped, I finished, officially, in 23:46 @ a 7:38 pace. I think I clocked my Garmin at 23:49, so I'll take it.

Lots of hard work and effort. And losing the weight definitely helps.

21:12. This year i want a sub 20. For those of you looking to best your times, i recommend parkrun. Its a timed weekly 5k and i find the other runners will spur you on. Theres a group of seriously fast 50+ guys and a 15ish year old girl that im closing in on!

My fastest in a 5K race was 30:21 but in a 10k last year, my first 5k split was 27:36 so I like to think of that as my 'unofficial' fastest recorded 5k time. I'm aiming for a sub 25:00 in 2012.

I did a 5k on Thanksgiving Day and my time was 28.01.

On the treadmill I like to average about a 10min mile...sometimes a little faster. I stink on the treadmill - haha.

I used to run in High School (that was 20+ years ago--where does the time go?). I picked up running again about 4 yrs ago and am at a point where I am at least as fast as I was then--I am certainly more fit.
My best 5K was 20:10. That was two years ago and I fear I have peaked. I'm no longer built for speed. I can run the same pace for a 5K as a 10K--the benefits of getting older!

Back in the days it was 21:40 but then stopped running for decades ! UGH. When I started up again - end of August 2011, being in my mid forties and a bit heavy, I managed a 32:48 on a hilly course, with some walking. My first race without walking clocked in at 29:55, also hilly. I got 26:25 in December and then started speed work and injured myself - ugh :grumble: - I got a 24:39 at a lightly short course according to my Garmin (still an 'official' time though lol). My goal for 2012 is going below a 24:00 not super fast but I would be very happy with that time.

I have noticed that my time and my ability to run 'fast' depends on the course (hilly and scenery) -- yup the scenery impacts my performance! I am looking for a down hill race!!!! and I found one in September of 2012! ALL down hill!

1st 5k was 39 mins Thanksgiving day, 2nd 5k was 35:33. Running 5k tomorrow and goal is to be under 35 minutes. When I first started running I couldn't manage a 15 minute mile. Goal is to run a 5k every month and eventually be under 30 mins and then run a 10k this Thanksgiving.

And where do I sign up for the all downhill race lol

I'm built more for distance than for speed, but I've been working on the speed thing and it's starting to chip away at my time. Started out last summer with ~33 minute 5Ks. First 5K race after that last year was 29:27 and then next was 28:48. I'm hoping to get close to (or break) 25 min this year.

I run in Georgia where there are lots of races (and competitions among race organizers - which is great for the consumer/runner) thanks to the peachtree roadrace - a very popular 10K race.

The one I am looking at is called "vinings down hill 5k", there are others, e.g., the "fast pace race 5K' that is also a fast race! I love living here! I can run a race every week, even in the middle of the winter! Can get pricey though.
