Why are people so obsessed with subway!

I would much rather go to Atwater's. All ingredients are listed and are all natural. Incredible freshness....Too bad I half to travel 2:30 hours to get it....0

Because it gives me the satisfaction of watch a female make my sammich right in front of me.0

I always feel so disappointed in myself after I eat at Subway.
It's loaded with sodium as well.
I just feel disappointed. That I spent $6 and I am still hungry and need to go somewhere else to eat.0 -
And now that you've taken this awesome survey to satisfy your curiosity, what'll you do with 9 pages of responses? I know I'm waiting on the edge of my seat!
My fascination with Subway stems from Jared. What a hottie... *fanning self*
this always gets sunkisses hot and bothered...

Subway is usually a better choice than grabbing a burger and fries at your local McDonald's, but it definitely is nowhere near as healthy as many sandwiches you could make at home.
In my opinion, it'll do in a pinch, but I would NEVER go out of my way to go to a Subway.0 -
I love Subway. I usually get the veggie delite sandwich on honey oat bread. It isn't that bad for you.0

OP is a troll obv,
what does OP mean. Have seen it on other topics and even took time to scroll back thru to see if it was a UN, but it wasn't.0 -
It's all in what you decide to eat from there. If you pick a healthier option, and are careful, it will be low cal and low sodium. It's not that subway isn't healthy. It is. However, there are also unhealthy options. When I eat there I do very well. I usually get a salad, or 6 inch of some sort. I read about what I am eating, before I eat it. Subway is not as bad as other "fast food" places.0

I'm not a fan myself. They are all types of shade with their nutritional info on their website, putting the serving size before the actual calories, so anyone just looking won't really know the real value of what they are eating unless they take a closer look. I also went when I was in middle school and the women behind the counter pretty much called me fat, insisting I get a foot long instead of a six inch because I was a big girl, and then microwaved the cheesesteak I ordered. I'm from Philly, you do not microwave a cheesesteak, no matter how convenient it may be.0

Because for very little money they move you around, what is usually a large metropolitan area and then they stop so that you can get off and go do stuff. Anyway, they go underground, too, which is cool to come people. In some city's they go overhead.
My kids have a couple of books about transportation, I highly recommend Things that Go.
Best answer so far!0 -

OK Thanks!0 -
Back to the original question. I eat there 2 out of 6 meals per day on average. Started doing that on October 1st. I order two 6" subs, switching between the turkey, tuna, chicken breast and every so often the meatball. All on wheat, no cheese or mayo but loaded with veggies. I'd be hard pressed to get that many veggies at any other "fast food" joint.
The ticker below tells you everything else you need to know.
Now where's my endorsement check?
thanks for a legit answer!!! Check is in the post.
Was that really an answer?? WOW you are easy to please......... I am surprised his ticker didnt make you gag.............
Maybe I just appreciate not being attacked by extremely sensitive people.
You are a little sensitive, arent you??0 -
I like the taste and smell of Subway. I can make a quick and relatively decent meal choice for $5.
You've gotten a lot of well thought out responses here. And then you've also got a lot of self righteous people who, I swear, wait for threads like this - or post them, themselves -so they can then jump on to espouse the dangers of fast food.
No wonder people get upset.
Sigh.0 -
In my town there are two fast food places. McDonalds or Subway (which is also connected to a pizza by the slice place). So I do subway sometimes and I never feel guilty for it. They have some good food. FYI, I used to work at the subway in my town, a few years ago, and my manager would fill the "lite" mayo with regular mayo. :noway:0

Subway is cheap, that's probably why people like it. I prefer Qdoba.0

I blame Jared.
LMAO! Me too! of course, if you read the story of how Jared did it, you'll notice that he WALKED to Subway every day to eat the sandwiches! The walk probably contributed some to his loss. We all just need to stick to the MFP way of logging everything and exercising more. Hope everyone has great success with the program.0 -
Because it gives me the satisfaction of watch a female make my sammich right in front of me.
Well played, sir.
But what do you do when your Sandwich Artist is a man?0 -
I don't eat subway often, but I don't get what is so bad about it. it's a lot better than other fast food options, and you can load your sandwich up with veggies. The sodium count comes into play with the cold cuts, but if your not all concerned about sodium because you drink plenty of water and/or even with a subway sandwich you are still under your sodium levels, then I hardly see what is so bad about it.

It is one of the only places around her for subs. I miss my choices in CA. That said I don't actually like them to much.
My husband does eat there a lot. He travels all the time, so it has become a staple for lunches and once in awhile dinner depending on where he is. It is much better then the stuff he was eating. Great, no, but he was doing much much worse then the choices he is now making at Subway.0 -
Not all fast foot places are bad, but rather the choices people make. I love Subway and I like it because *I* control what kind of bread I have, what toppings, what dressing, etc. nowhere else do I get to choose that. I'm a vegetarian, so I always get a footlong sub and it's only $5!!! I load it with all the veggies, no cheese and then go home and put my own dressing/mustard on. I can't do this at Wendy's or McDonald's, etc. Just my thoughts.0

OP is a troll obv,
How come? Sorry I am pretty new to forums etc. But by troll you mean what? I am genuinely interested. Not trying to start something here.
I think this is a very legitimate question and not trolling It's true, subway bread/meats are filled full of chemicals, sodium and calories just like many other fast food places. It may be a somewhat better option when it comes to vegetable choices or salads but it is still the same concept of crap you can put into your body. I would rather have quiznos personally and only because it tastes awesome. I'm not fooling myself either that it isn't fast food. I know it is!
Yeah bro?
Go eat Mc Donalds for month, then eat Subway for a month. Let me know which places makes you heavier.0 -
I'm not sure what the obsession for subway is all about but I do love the Big Philly Cheesesteak!0
-
idk, but you just made me hungry. lol0

your profile pic is amazing. you could be the new hot black Jarnard for Subway! hahaha your name even fits!0 -
It is just fast food in a tiny disguise. Every time I walk past the place and its putrid smell hits by nostrils I gag.
Why do you like subway? Is it just because it is convenient?
**Obviously this question hit a sore spot with some people. I am not judging people food choices, it is a legit question.
Totally with you on the smell, its the worst smelling bread ever!0 -
Had one once, don't know what the fuss is about. It was sort of okay I guess, but nowhere near as nice as something I'd put together myself.
My attitude to meals outside the home have changed a lot over the years, these days if it's not significantly better than something I could prepare myself, I'm not interested in paying for it.
This is how I feel about it too. If it can't top something I can make, I rather make it myself. AKA sushi and french food, mmmm0
