And don't worry so much about weight, as you would what you look and feel like. so instead of having a goal weight, find a fitness model or even a good friend that you would like to look like and shoot for that, weighing yourself can work against you at times. do not let the scale rule your weight loss journey, shoot for healthy and fit rather than light weight.

Im 5'3.5 (gotta add that 1/2 inch) and currently weigh around 115 (sometimes less sometimes more). My goal weight is 110 but a fit 110 and honestly the 5 lbs don't matter much to me. Id be happy to look and feel better and fit into my jeans again;) I know this might not be much help to you. Just remember, as mentioned before don't focus too much on the number on the scale and shorties like us see bigger results with less weight lost (only sucks when its the other way around:)

I am 5'4.5" and aiming for 140lbs. This last 4-5lbs just refuses to come off though. hahaha. Whatever. I set my goal for 140 instead of 130 because I figured 140 while still a little round is well within my healthy BMI range and I'm okay with having a little bit of a belly. So I might not be the inspiration most people are looking for. Anyways, I started at 170lbs and am now down to 144.8.

Me at my heaviest in May of last year(some of the pics that finally kicked me into motion)

And me just last week trying on a hand-me down skirt my super-skinny best friend sent me. haha.

My suggestion is to not worry about the numbers too much. They just add unnecessary stress.

Great thread! I am currently 5"4, started at 213 and now at 166. Trying to get down to 143 and then will take it from there, just trying to keep the motivation up.

Remember it's not all about a number! I am 5'5". The day I got married I was 123 lbs and a size 6 or 8. At that time I approached it as calorie restriction and I was not very active. I would walk, but overall, no sports or weight lifting. I was thin and now, looking back, I must have had ZERO energy.

Then, four children later I started the weight loss journey and got into very good shape, but that time around I was very actively playing sports and had added weight lifting to my routine as well. (when I say weight lifting I mean lighter weights for toning, not bulking up ) I lost the weight, was a size 4 and I weighed 143 lbs! So I was 20 lbs heavier than the day I got married but 1-2 sizes smaller all due to the fact that I was finally exercizing and using weights to add lean muscle mass.

It was very strange to me and I had a hard time embracing the number. In my mind I 'still' had 20 lbs to lose and ultimately it cost me dearly. I gave up out of sheer frustration because no matter how hard I tried I could not lose the weight and now I'm back to the starting point having gained back 50 lbs!!! And while I'm an intelligent woman, I was so fixated on "The Number" that I could not reconcile that I had replaced all my FAT with beautiful lean muscles. I felt great, looked great, but had sabotaged my success because some chart somewhere decided I should weigh no more than 120-135 (or whatever the number 'should' be)

So this time around I will see success through how I FEEL and not worry about "The Number" !!! This will be a way of life - healthier choices and an active lifestyle.

    Great post!

Hi, my pictures are below, i'm 5'4", started at 210 in October 2009 and hit my target of 140 on Christmas day 2011. I went from a size 18 to a size 12-14 (UK).
My advice is don't be too hard on yourself if you go over, don't starve yourself and do it for the longhaul. This needs to be a lifestyle change if you wanna do it right. And good luck!

You all look amazing and are so inspirational. I don't have any pics but am 5' 1" and bucking the scale at about 160 when I decided I HAD to do something. Very uncomfortable in my skin. Good luck to you all for continued success. WTG!

My starting weight, which could have been more since I was "dieting" for a few weeks before the LIFESTYLE change, was 183 - A very tight SIZE 12.

I am in maintenance right now trying to build strength & muscle. I am currently a SIZE 2-4. :smile

Yes, you read it all correctly...it took over 5 years (and yes two pregnancies) to finally get it and treat my body right. It might take forever, but you'll get there some day. Don't ever give up hope!

Megmay, I didn't read through all the responses so I apologize if someone already suggested this but check out the website www.mybodygallery.com. You can search pictures by height, weight, and pants and shirt sizes. It is all REAL women and the site has a great mission statement. Fantastic motivation, too. :) Good luck

I am 35 yrs old, mom of twins and 5'4". I started at 210 lbs. in June 2010, joined MFP in Sept 2010 (just realized this week there are message boards!) and now I am currently 120 lbs. I'm pretty much at my goal weight, but I lost all the weight without exercising, so now I just want to tone up. I might have to actually put weight back on to do that. My measurements are 34-26-35 and I'm a size 4 dress/pants, size small top. HTH and best of luck to you!

Probably at 210 lbs., one of the reasons I started losing weight, a friend posted this dreadful shot on her facebook.
