Why do you honestly want to lose weight!?

I love this thread! LOL Everyone says it's to be healthier, but really most people have a different reason. Read through others reasons..... here's mine. I can't stand the thought of another summer with being miserable because I'm FAT! thighs chaffing, sweat under your boobs, red irratitated areas and folds that shouldn't be... wanting to go swimming and wear the cute "little" tops and shorts... but need to hide the fat rolls.... AND I'm turning 40, thought fit and 40 sounds better than FAT and 40. I know I am an emotinal eater, I have "stuffed" myself with food ever since I can remember to "stuff" down the pain of abuse as a child. Well NO MORE. If I am having a bad day.. with memmories I can't shake, it needs to come out.0

A couple of years back I was diagnosed with pretty bad sleep apnea and was told that I would need a CPAP machine for the rest of my life in order to sleep normally. Since then I have had my tonsils out and the specialist now tells me that weight loss may see me able to dump the machine.
Apart from that I have recently married and I want to have kids sometime before I get too old. I dont want to be constantly puffing and panting chasing them around the place.0 -
I am fed up with goin shopping and trying on about 100 outfits in the fitting rooms and still not buying anyfing, coz i dont look the way I want to.0

I want to be healthy to start making a family with my husband once I graduate school.
On the topic of being pregnant, I want people to notice that I have a baby bump and not just a fat stomach. Vain, but it's true.0 -
In order that I remember thinking of them:
-To have people notice me as well as my stepsister when I'm next to her
-Cute clothes that fit me, including more bodycon types of shirts or dresses, without worrying about trying to suck in my stomach
-More confidence in my appearance and myself for being able to change my lifestyle around
-To be fit enough to move in all my things on dorm move in day without being winded after trip 1 or 2 up the stairs
-To have smaller boobs... and cute bras
-So when I go to Europe at some point (especially the Netherlands with my mom) I won't be the stereotypical overweight American
-To help my girlfriend who's also losing weight, buddy system
-Enjoy the summer (& spring) weather here in NC
-To get a tan while spending time outside! In a tank top or bikini
-To have more energy for myself and my studies (easier to study when you don't feel like a sluggish blob of fat at your desk)
-To shock the people that knew me back in high school

1. I want people to notice me. I'm tired of being the fat friend. All of my friends are thin and when we go out, guys ignore me.
2. I want to be able to go into any store and find clothes that fit and look pretty.
3. I want to feel healthier and stronger.
4. i want to fit in with everyone else. I don't want to have to consider if i will be to heavy for something like an amusement park ride.0 -
Truth be told.... I want to be hot. I want to be fit so that when people look at me they think "man, she's in great shape". I am an athlete and I hang out and train with a lot of other athletes. I often feel like I am slower, fatter, and in worse shape when compared with most of them. Sometimes I can barely keep up. I want to be so fit that I don't feel that way anymore and can "hang" when someone invites me for a run or bike ride. Often times I make up an excuse not to workout with someone who is better than me. I know I shouldn't do that because it would help me to workout with people who are better and they wouldn't have invited me if they didn't want me to come. That's why I want to lose weight.... to help me be a better athlete. Extra weight is like kryptonite to a runner or cyclist..... it can slow you down.0

(1) Be a good role model for my four little boys and be around for them for a very long time
(2) I love all things outdoors... horseback riding, canoeing, rafting, hiking, biking, camping, rock walls - I feel a little ridiculous doing it at this weight plus its a heck of lot easier at a smaller weight
(3) I have a bad hip - being lighter reduces the stress on it
(4) I want to feel proud of myself. I want to feel confident again. I want to be living the life I have pictured in my head.
(5) Clothes - My clothes don't fit and I'm not buying any bigger sizes.0 -
1) to be a better athlete- i want to be able to play netball in a top division one day
2) to be a better performer - it's hard to play a gig (im in a band) and give an amazing performance while i have in the back of my mind thoughts of being self conscious and being percieved as a typical fat bass player
3) to be sexy for my boyfriend
4) to feel better about myself- more confidence and comfortableness with my own skin
5) so i can wear a bikini one day!!!!0 -

I'm sick of being the fat girl. I'm sick of never getting hit on by guys when out in public. I want to be hot and not just a "pretty face".
I want CUTE CLOTHES and not just whatever fits.0 -
Short-term? I'm getting married in less than 4 months and I want to look as best as possible by then. I don't want to be a fat bride with skinny bridesmaids. /
More long-term? I want to set a good example for my daughter. I want her to see her mom working hard, exercising, and eating right. I want her to develop good habits at an early age - and a taste for healthy food. Same goes for any other kids I may have in the future.0 -
Thanks for asking...I just turned 61 last month, and I finally reached my weight goal, but, now I MUST maintain it and become heart healthy. I had a heart attack two years ago, and don't want to become a statistic and have another one. Nope. My daughter has given me one grandson 19 months ago, and a granddaughter due Feb 10. I need to be healthy to see them grow up.0

I'm so with you on that one! There was someone else who mentioned how she was/is treated at her current size and that's another big thing for me too. I have quite a list. My number one thing though is that I'm tired of having to shop for clothes online. I want to walk into a store and buy something, anything off a rack and not feel like my grandmother would wear the same thing.0 -
I wanted to lose weight so I could look great and not be the fattest person in the room everywhere I went. Health. Benefits were a bonus but mostly it was a vanity thing.0

Initially, to finally become attractive and gain the confidence and positive self image that I needed. Improved health was also a nice bonus.0

I got fat, i was a fat loser!
But today I may still be a fat loser but im working on it 23 kilos down!
I am a social butterfly and given the weight loss opportunity i will not be loser!

I will walk past old flames and go in your dreams!
I will wear clothes that make me look attractive....all my clothes cling and blahh eww man ewww! I tighten my belt because my pants are falling down and wellahh...a new roll :grumble:0
