My husband just had steamed wasp's larvae in Laos, so that is my new afraid food.
He said it tasted mothy and not like chicken AT ALL.0 -
I am most afraid of bagels with cream cheese. I love them and I know they are just empty calories. Once I hit my goal loss of 40 pounds. I may splurge and have 1 ! That is all... but I think that will be my treat... if I even crave it at that point!0

You can steam them, saute them with garlic, roast them in olive oil, or boil.
Afraid food: Breads - I love bread a lot but have actually cut waaaay down since living out on my own since it goes bad before I can finish it. Also: sweets (butterfingers, fast breaks, candy hearts)0 -

I love them but only when they're really warm!0 -
Sushi. I actually wanted to try it.... but then I saw a show called 'Monsters Inside Me' about someone who nearly died because of some parasitic worm she got from eating it.0

I don't know how many times I have bought spaghetti squash.......and it went bad. I don't know why but I just can't seem to try it! Another food is Avocados....I'm afraid to try them. My danger food however is cake, buttercream icing and dill pickle dip made by Philadelphia....yummy!!!!0

Mushrooms creep me out! I work as a waitress and the chefs at work constantly wind me up,I could never eat anything that has them in it and even looking at them makes me feel a little ill! Also tinned baked beans, the look and smell turns my stomach but I love kidney beans, canellini beans etc0

If you are serious about trying it and want to eliminate your excuse you can google just about anything...including how to cook asparagus.0

I love asparagus, you just have to boil them. Also, put some balsamic vinegar for added flavour on the side of your plate. Mmm mmm good.0

Bah...still learning how to use this forum...lol
Anyway...Mine is Cake and Cookies. I LOVE to bake! But I also tend to over bake for occasions because I don't want to not have enough. Then very few people want to take some home so we end up with tons of extras.
The Christmas though, I did the old fashioned neighborly thing and took plates of cookies to my neighbors with a card. That helped a bit, I think. lol0 -

HA! Brilliant. You're so right.0 -
Off topic, but, asparagus.
Get really fresh stems. Toss in sesame oil and soy sauce and either pan fry or grill. Eat your heart out, wagamamas.
A little chili if you like.0 -
Cereal!! I'll refill the bowl as many times as it takes to soak up all the milk! I can kill a whole box in 2 days!0

Spam...gross0

I really am creeped out by ricw pudding and tapioca (sp?)
I love chips, carb carb carb...so I try to find foods that give me a similar crunch without the empty calories and carbs0 -
Cheese. I could live on it. WOULD live on it if I could. If there's a big block of medium or sharp juicy cheddar sitting in my fridge I could demolish the whole thing in a single evening. I love cheese so much that it terrifies me.0

Prawns, shrimps...infact all seafood... yuk yuk yuk!
Its so not right eating anything with eyes... :sick:0 -

Boiling any veggie tends to remove most of the beneficial nutrients than other cooking methods. Steaming is the way to go.0 -

I have a daughter that doesn't like chips (hot ones, fries)!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always said she must be the only person in the WORLD that doesn't like chips lol. I even would get calls from mums when she was young and at a friends macca's birthday or something saying "Brittany reckons she doesn't like chips, isn't she feeling well today?" It freaked people out!!! I lurve chips. :ohwell:
I hadn't actually ever tasted pizza until I was about 23 LOL. It wasn't such a big thing here to have takeaways when I was growing up. I sure made up for it after I tasted it - I lurve pizza too!!! :bigsmile:0 -
I conquered my fear of the shirataki tofu noodles that everyone goes on about!
I had a pack in my fridge for at least a month... and just couldn't bring myself to try them. Everyone's biggest issue with these things was texture and the smell. I figured the texture thing I could get over, but was concerned about the smell. But i did it! I just bit the bullet, and cut the package... ya it smelled. But I rinsed them forever, and then simmered them in the spaghetti sauce for almost 45 minutes... VOILA! No smell! Tofu is like a sponge for flavours, so the simmering was key in my opinion.
I bought 2 more packages the next day. 40 cal noodles... yes please!
Next I'll try them in stir fry... and serve them to my picky bf and see if he notices... hehe0 -
