Tub girl didn't offend me, but it didn't exactly make me want to go out and drink a chocolate milkshake either. I'm pretty difficult to offend, assuming, as you specified, you throw out actually offensive things like rape, and torture. Some people would debate this, since I'm deeply bothered by things like factory farming of animals, but personally, I think those fall under torture. Plus, I don't get all indignant about it, I just don't want to participate in it.
  • I don't know that I ever get offended. Sometimes I find things sickening but not really offensive. I'm just fascinated by people and all of the crazy things we do.

I'd have to say that I'm probably a 9 or 10. Tubgirl doesn't offend me, though I find it disgusting.

The one exception is when something is a personal attack against me. In that case, I'm far more easily offended (e.g., if somebody accused me of cheating or stealing).

Being offended and being disgusted/grossed out are completely different things to me, although it generally takes a lot for me to feel either offended or grossed out.

Overt, mean-spirited racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, bullying etc. is offensive to me. As in, I will take offense and will say something, end a relationship, take a stand, leave a party, etc.

It's pretty difficult to gross me out. I've seen a lot on the Interwebs. Some of the far out stuff and medically-related stuff gives me the heeby-jeebies. I think the safety of a screen keeps me from getting completely grossed out at much. I'm sensitive to smell. If I see something gross, and I smell it too, then my tolerance goes way down.

Actually, that applies to being offended as well. I get offended by overly strong perfume. Especially old lady perfume (not only worn by old ladies). So I guess I would have a pretty high number according to your scale, except for racist, sexist, gay-bashing old ladies that wear lots of perfume.

As a 9, what would it take to offend you?

I don't know, exactly. You can try, but it won't be easy.

wow. just finished with the entire 3 guys 1 hammer story.

not offended - more like horrified at the aspect humans can be so freaking evil. Not like there hasn't been people like that all through history, but each time, wow. it's disturbing.

what they did to so many people while laughing
    what they did to children
what they did to the pregnant woman (and her unborn)

although not the same game - what they did to the white kitten. good lord. They put foam in its mouth and superglued it shut to stifle it's screams.

    "it's all god's plan". yeeaahhhh - riiiiiigggghhhhtttttt.

You get the blue ribbon today binary. I think you officially killed my spirit today.

exactly...all the weird sex stuff and the poop stuff and vomit stuff are gross and disgusting and whatnot, but I'm not "offended".

3 guys 1 Hammer is an actual murder, 9 minutes of a guy being beaten to a bloody pulp while the 3 guys laugh.
If that does NOT offend someone, then I am offended by them not being offended. I wish I could un-watch what I just watched. Trust me, don't watch it.

If you are talking offended, not grossed out and taking away excluding stuff like rape and kiddie porn, then probably about a 9. Basically fine with everything, except people talking about my dog or niece, those two might cause me to snap and take someone down.

I'd say I'm a good 9.9. I'm pretty damn hard to offend. I actually REALLY enjoy most of it.....However...I do have a soft spot for my family...I can get easily offended when it comes to them, and VERY defensive, that's my .1 for not getting a 10!

The things you see/hear/do in an ironworker break trailer would curdle most people's blood.

Hmm. Depends what you mean by offended. I get grossed out and disturbed very easily. I'd give myself maybe a 3 or 4 for that one. But I don't get offended by things unless it's people having a specific and personal dig at me. So I wouldn't be offended if someone said all natural blondes were dumb, or runners are idiots, but I would be extremely offended if someone said something rude about me as a person, with the intention of being rude.

I also don't think it is any great thing being undisturbable. I think too many people in the world are too hard, unshockability isn't something to be proud of. The humane reaction to disturbing things should be to be disturbed and upset. Most children would be. Surely that is our natural state. What is it that happens along the way that makes so many people lose that?

I think the world is short of a lot of kindness.

i cant respect people who have no respect for themselves. so if someone spitting in your face doesnt offend you - that offends ME
if somebody spit in my face, i'd probably punch them in their face. i wouldn't be "offended" i'd be pissed.

why would we (burlesque dancers) be offensive? I could see that if we were the entertainment at a 5 yr old's bday party, but not during a show at one of our venues!

Oh no I didn't mean it like that. Burlesque dancers are the most awesome, genuine and artistic folks in my life. I meant that because I'm constantly around the two things that generally offend "easily offended" people (public nudity and taboo viewpoints or language) that I'm very desensitized to things. To be honest, I don't think burlesque at a kids bday would bother me either... the kids would love it for different reasons from the grown ups.
