    He's an action hero!
  • To put off the "IF's" "And's" or "But's"

    Here are facts:
    Batman is not a superhuman.
Batman does not have special super powers.
Batman is not half machine, nor cyborg.
Batman does not have super soldier serum in him. KEYWORD: "SUPER"
Batman is a HUMAN hero, not a super hero.

Also: Batman does not exist in Marvel, he exists in DC. While it was mentioned "what if...", it does not pertain to the argument. There are no what if's..... Batman is not a superhero.

    If you don't care..why'd you comment? O_o
  • I don't know if anyone posted anything about mighty mouse and it depends on how old you are if you remember him, now that was a super hero mouse, he could fly and bounce bullets off his chest and he had super strength.

Oh, lol. At least you said hero >:)
That's the point I was trying to make- I wasn't bashing his character though.
  • No one would be talking smack to the real Batman... :)

No one's saying he ISN'T bad *kitten*. I'm just saying he's not a superhero.

I remember Might Mouse. Loved watching that cartoon when I was a kid.

My son-in-law would completely disown me for this....but....There is no real Batman!
  • if not a superhero ...why do the other meta human members of the justice league respect him.... to the point of being INTIMIDATED by him (superman included). No one here has mentioned his command over fear.. control over his OWN fears and inspiring FEAR in others.... Id say that is a pretty good "power:"

Superhero: a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers; also : an exceptionally skillful or successful person

    Extraordinary OR superhuman....

No kid can aspire to be (and succeed in becoming) Superman, or any other "Super" as defined by the original poster. But given enough wits and money, they could aspire to be Batman or Iron Man. This alone makes them superior superheros than the other lesser superheros.

    Extraordinary OR superhuman....
aside from the money and the martial arts training mentioned earlier .. I havnt seen alot on his mental abilities being the best private detective out there.

He does have power. No one is arguing that. He doesn't have a SUPER power though. Superman is only intimidated because Batman knows his weakness. If Superman had no kryptonite, do you think he'd be intimidated? No. Everyone respects him because he is wealthy and obviously very well trained. Same reason why people respect Hawkeye- he is the number one Marksman in all of Marvel.

Batman lost his super hero status thanks solely to George Clooney...

Good thread to read. I am regularly correcting people who, admittedly, probably don't care and want me to shut up and/or go away.

Fact is that Batman and Ironman are just very rich, very fit and very techy people with a sense of justice. Superheroes are, by definition, supernatural through radiation, experimentation, genetic deformity or extraterrestrial origin.

Bruce Wayne was a normal human until the night his parents were shot. Then something changed in him, making him "different" from normal people.

His "Super Power" is that he has the nuts to stand up to evil. It didn't come from: radiation, experimentation, genetic deformity or extraterrestrial origin, but it is there.

Go outside and attempt to stop a crime, and then tell me that's not a special power.

Well, if you want to get your geek on..

Iron Man would fall into the same category as Batman - Just a guy with money.
Also, what about the green lanterns - they don't have super powers, they just possess alien technology.

Iron Man is a superhero. As previously mentioned, he survives on a chest reactor (or his uni-beam lol). Yes, he was born into riches, but what keeps him alive makes him "super".
Green Lanterns can suck it. >:O

Just cos he's got a fancy pacemaker doesn't make him super - I'd put him on the same level as Batman. His chest reactor is essentially just a battery that powers his suit (and keeps him alive)

But I agree - Batman isn't a superhero, at least not in the strictest sense, but the term has become diluted.

I think not being a superhero makes him cooler than genuine superheroes though - they rely on powers that no human possesses, he is just a human and yet matches up to genuine superheroes.

I can respect this. Iron Man is still a superhero, especially after is extremis armor issues- he qualifies.. Tony Stark is questionable, but do not knock the suit. It is definitely super.

Thanks for being one of the few who understand!! lol.
Minus the Iron Man statement. :)

I love the level of passion this thread has generated. Great to be passionate, no matter which side of the argument you take...I tend to agree with the original poster...but still like Batman...how could I not...I grew up watching the cheesy Batman series on tv..many years ago.

I would also like to add that Batman wouldn't be considered superhuman in Marvel. Yes, Tony Stark is a LIVING MACHINE, that's why he is on it.

    Last comment:

Black panther is considered a superhero, he has no superpowers, just near superpower like qualities. There are many others

I agree. Hawkeye falls in the category too. There are heroes and there are superheroes. Just a common misconception of the term "superhero".
