OOPs - guess I jumped a head a week.

OK, guys - here is the challenge this week..

We are all worried about Marla - and she has not checked in lately (weird).

Your challenge this week is to post a daily prayer or well wishing for Marla. We need her back!!

Thanks all..

Marla- we miss you and are thinking about you, i hope you're ok :flowerforyou:

lori-i know what you mean about getting out of the house once in a while. dave and buster's is awesome, i'm glad you guys had so much fun

janie- what a nice idea for this weeks challenge :flowerforyou:

i've been having a weird couple of weeks weight-wise. first i gain like 3 lbs thinking it was TOM, then i go back down to 168, then this past week, i lost 2 lbs, which is great! then i get on the scale this morning, and the scale says 163.8! i couldn't believe it, 2 lbs since yesterday? i thought there was something wrong with the scale, but my dear hubby said he rebooted it, checked the settings and ran diagnostics on it (whatever that means  ) anyway, he says the scale is right. i checked it like 10 times already, so now i'm just gonna go with it. have a good morning guys!

I'm going to try to find her phone number through the internet world today & scare the crap out of her husband. I have her address so if nothing else, I'm sending her a card.

Well, I found her phone number but I'm going to wait a little while longer to call. There is a reason I'm waiting, I swear, but I don't think I should share it here. If I don't hear from her by Saturday, I'll give her a call. For now, let's continue to send up prayers, good thoughts, whatever. Hopefully she's doing okay.

oh, you warm my old lady heart, you blessed people...
marlahosp.jpg Greetings from Hunterdon Medical Center. I arrived Tuesday afternoon and waited an agonizing two hours in the waiting room. Ugh.

Doctor examined me and said it seemed to be my gall bladder and sent me for an ultrasound. I was in the ultrasound forever...man, they check everything. When I got back to my room, my husband had arrived....my daughter drove me. Hubs looks at me, notorious jokester that he is, and said, "Well, your gall bladder is extremely infected and has to come out immediately." "Are you messing with me?" I ask. "No," and then he goes on with more medical gobbledygook. I look at Sarah, "Is he messing with me?" "NO, MOM."

That #$@! potato salad that I knew I shouldn't have, put my gall bladder over the edge. Seems now in hindsight, I've had several of these episodes over the years that I thought were acid reflux...and always during bbq season when I make my truly mean salads. (the word "mean" now taking on different meaning, natch)

Surgeon visited and said, however, that he was concerned about my bilirubin level which was elevated, that perhaps I had already passed a stone that blocked the bile duct from the liver or something...blah, blah, blah. (my eyes glaze over when I hear medical crap...to my shame...) So, he wanted to wait until Wednesday to do the surgery to check my bilirubin in the morning....which, to make a not so long story not as long as it needs to be...not my forte, as you all well know. Bilirubin was fine yesterday and surgery was scheduled for the afternoon.

All went well. Doc said it was tremendously infected and enlarged nearly 4 times its normal size. No wonder I was in such blasted pain...oh em gee. I was still feeling like crap when he visited this afternoon, so he kept me another night. I am now off the IV and all antibiotics and pain killers...although I may ask for a tylenol for a headache.

I had been taking a lovely pain killer...dilaudid, which eventually began making me really whacko. Well, more than normal. I couldn't even sleep this afternoon because after the dose, I couldn't close my eyes without visions of bizarro things taking over...almost psychotic. STRANGE.

So that was noonish, and I haven't needed anything since. I was finally able to eat tonight...half a sandwich and a bowl of soup. First food since Sunday. Maybe I'll make it to goal by my birthday after all. I just had to cheat to do it. ha.

You are all just incredible people, and I couldn't thank you enough for your thoughts, prayers and concerns. Sara, I don't know if the phone number you got would be the right one. We've moved a couple times, and I don't think whitepages.com kept up with us, if that's where you got it. But, I don't feel so bad...I tried to get your number from 411 and yours is unlisted. I was going to call you Wednesday night to fill you in.

Congrats to all on your losses and success this week. I hope to blow all your doors off with my incredible, surgically reduced weight next week, once all the water weight from the blinkin' IV and all the crud they've been pumping in me finally goes away.

I'm heading home tomorrow, and will try to head back to work. Last I posted about work was Sunday night when I told you I had to type like mad this week to catch up or else we were dead in the water...and then this. Truly amazing sense of humor the Lord has, eh?

Oh well...no bicching tonight. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

your mom sounds like a wise lady. There's a verse in scripture..."To man belongs the plans of his heart, but the Lord determines his steps."

    Thanks, Sam!

And xoxo to you, Dr. Beth...You nailed it. I think I saw Sara was on target too....smart ladies.

    Thanks for the concern...so appreciated!!!

edited to add...and you're awfully young, from what they tell me, to have your gall bladder removed. Yipes. They tell me it's primarily in the 3 F's...forty, fertile, female. You're two out of three...guess that's enough, eh? Yeesh.
