Writing is an old habit of mine. My spelling and grammar can be nasty but my writing can be pretty decent sometimes. When I took placement exams for college I tested into the most basic math course possible but got place in a senior year literature and senior year creative writing class. Was weird being a freshmen in a senior course but I enjoyed it. I usually like to write stuff for kids but I play around with stuff. Never really worked at it. never really felt like I had the time.

I can't do any creative writing like you-- I have, like, ZILCH imagination-- maybe it's a dude thing? I can only write about my whacked out existence.

For example-- I'm sharing a bed tonight with my adorable mother-in-law who is cuttin' 'em like a drunken sailor-- she's asleep right now, and I'm working-- (really....I'm listening through a video portion that's not transcribable-- gross content, I want to puke). Worse than that is the smell in my bedroom-- poor, sweet woman--

Tell me I won't smell like that in, uh-- 36 years-- dayum, that's close.

oh lovely-- :grumble: here we go--

Forgot SpongeMarla  over here-- my body NO YIKE extra fluid intravenously, it shoots up the blood pressure-- it was of course excellent through surgery and post op, creeped up a bit yesterday but was still okay-- 163/90 right now-- #$@! #$@! #$@!

Preliminary weight loss after 5 days of next to no food shows me up 8 and a half pounds-- all water-- my stomach looks like a water balloon.

God, I hate my body-- :explode:

Back to the doctor I go tomorrow--

I have a call into him already-- this happens after childbirth, too-- or has for the past....um...four, since I passed the ripe old age of 35.

I had to get up around 6....head was pounding from it. Can't lay down or the head pounds.

To add insult to the injury, the stress of all this this week brought on another TOM two weeks early, adding to the fluid in my body. I know that's an issue I need to resolve. I don't know whether it's heart failure or what-- but my body can not handle any extra fluid without the blood pressure going flooey.

Not the happiest camper right now.:ohwell:

Oh, Marla. I'm so sorry. *hugs* I hope they can do some extra tests or something to see what's going on. I'll be praying for the financial situation of it all, too. :frown:

You sweet thing-- actually that's right now taken care of. We are on New Jersey Medicare. We're one of the lucky who are poor enough. Go us.

Surgeon called in a week's worth of high blood pressure medicines for me based on what I already take ( as needed, I must confess) but was out of. I gave him my standard dose, so although it's a deviation from the norm for him, he did it. And I'll follow up with my new primary care provider that I selected and have never met next week.

I also remembered I haven't had coffee since Sunday. That's my major diuretic-- but I can't even stomach the smell or thought of it, let alone contemplate drinking....blech.

I had two whole pieces of wheat toast for breakfast-- whoooo......

Oh, Marla. I'm sorry. :frown: That is "good" that you are eligible for Medicare, though. One less thing to worry about for now. Let me know if there's anything I can do from here!

Homecoming was tiring, but all is well. Made it through the dinner hour and the bedtime.

We have my mother-in-law here for the night and through dinner tomorrow so my father-in-law can travel to watch my brother-in-law's son play a baseball game up in New Hampshire for his college. He dragged poor Mom to a triple-header last weekend-- truly I don't know what these people think. This 80 YEAR OLD lady stayed who knows where with who knows who-- my stupid @$$ brother and sister-in-law don't seem to know THEY are the causes of most of her memory problems. When she's around them, she's very upset for lots of reasons I won't go into, and her memory goes totally haywire. My father-in-law said the weekend was a disaster last week. These people are fools. KEEP THIS WOMAN IN HER COMFORT ZONE.

We witnessed a bit of the bad memory after dinner, but we all know when you're digesting your food, where does the bulk of your blood flow go? To your tummy, away from your brain, right? So, after dinner, she started asking my husband to remind her of who her children are, who was born first, how many kids they had, blah, blah, blah.

But, once she gets a bit past dinner, it returns. And she's so much better. Just makes you want to smack these people. :grumble:

Struck up the coolest friendship with my surgeon, my husband and I did. When he first met us, he started flirting with me and told me I had "acute gall bladder." I turned to hubs, totally looped up with pain medicines and said, "Hey, djou hear that? He said I have a cute gall bladder." Ha. Doctor chuckled, husband rolled his eyes. He later told me I had "acute colysistitis." "Didja hear that hon?"
"Yeah, yeah-- shut up," he said. (the guy WAS easy on the eyes, though-- wow)

Anyway-- he stayed in my room and talked to us for at least an hour after each time he'd check on me. He lives about 5 minutes away we learned, and he's going to play golf with my daughter at the hospital fundraiser next month. We meshed on some politics, school issues-- societal stuff-- it was wayy cool.

Wow-- I'm tired-- okay-- I'm outta here for now.

Its called sundowning. Happens to all dementia patients at sundown. Its like with the setting sun they are losing control of their world. Best suggestion, keep room where grandma is light, bright cheery and curtains closed against darkness or growing darkness. Tends to help.

Wow-- thanks, Bobbi-- I'll pass this onto my husband. We're hearing some sad/scary stuff out of her regarding her primary care giver-- namely, my father-in-law-- looks like we need some family intervention asap--

Ya know, I had issues with her in the past. But, truly, as her light is dimming, the only thing that is left in her is the sweetness. How anyone can mistreat or disrespect a person as they fail is truly beyond me. This was a strong, proud woman who had her life, always, rigidly, regimented. She never missed a day of work. Never missed tithing. Never missed an appointment. This was on Monday, that was on Tuesday, the other was on Wednesday-- prayer meeting on this day, Bible study on that day, volunteer here this day, do this that day-- she had her life scheduled to a T.

Now she's stuck with a person who it seems in his darker moments is deliberately trying to confuse her more-- it breaks my heart. Sighhhhh.

Oh well-- my knight in shining armor rushed to the pharmacy and brought back my blood pressure medicine, so I'm now medicated. Hopefully, my body will begin to behave. I feel 1,000 percent crapola.

Heading to work-- then I think I'm taking mother-in-law out for a bowl of soup (for her, not me-- ) at Panera bread so I can glean more about what she's enduring in her home-- sweet thing.

    Love to all--

Hope you're all having a stress-free weekend-- hope at least SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE is having a stress-free weekend. Sheesh, already!!

Someone very very near and dear to me , found out today that she has melanoma . One spot (mole) that will be removed. That should take care of it. The reason I am sharing this with you, the weather is getting nice and we have all been spending more time outside with our more active life styles. PLEASE don't forget to use sunscreen (waterproof)! Wear a hat and don't forget your lips and ears. The life you could be saving is yours. She was religious about using sunscreen but she is so fair skinned and spends so much time outside due to her job and life style. If not for yourself, due it for those around you.

Thats very good advice...melanoma is the source of all my surgeries that I have had over the past 7 years and almost took my life. Im sure alot of you remember my last battle with it a couple months ago. Take it very seriously folks...it is a silent killer.

Write down her stories and recipes she and only she has in her head. It is very stressful for us to see a loved one go thru this but even more so for them because they don't know what's happening to them. I worked on a Long Term Care Unit for many years and the simplest things bring a smile. A touch, a smile, a child ( no wonder you mom in law likes it at your house Marla).

My Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers 12 years ago. God bless her heart. She last said my name about 10 years ago at Christmas. Best present I have ever gotten or ever will. The smallest things still mean so much. When you tell her I love you she will say you too. She doesn't say anything else. She used to hum a tune that we figured out was a hymn " Love Lifted Me". GOD is still with her and she knows it.

I apologize for rattling on. I don't know what made me rattle on but I feel so much better now that I have. I have shared my Mom with you all and hope you all remember never to tell your Mom...I Love You !!

my hubbys grandmother has dementia and they gave her meds for something but they were making her very violent so they stopped giving them to her. Hubbys aunt wants to act like it's not happening but there are days that my MIL will go over to visit and she will have to cook because they have no food cooked for them. HUbs' aunt comes in one day and says why are you cooking for them and she said because there was nothing here and aunt says I bring food over everyday. So MIL asked her father were is the food at and HE says that food is *kitten* I throw it out as soon as she leaves.

but Grandma has accused all of her grandchildren except hubby and his youngest brother of stealing anything from luggage to her undies. She has forgotten where she puts rent money from her tenants. One day MIL and her went through all of her clothes and purses and as they were cleaning stuff out they found 5000 dollars that was stuffed here or stuffed there. They need full time care and Hubbys aunt can't see that. My MIL would do it but my FIL has been gravely sick had to have a stem cell replacement done so she can't do it. Someone needs to do something.

To make matters worse Grandparents are insisting on going to austria so Hubs' aunt goes out and buys their tickets. She is NUTS!!!!!! they think they are going for 2 months but everyone knows that they are only going for 1 they won't even realize they have been gone that long. I wish I was there I would take care of her. She is like me or I am like her. Tough! she is 100 percent Austrian. lived through hitlers time in austria. her mother made dresses for them out of the flags that they were told to display. ballsy!!!

edit: sorry I went on and on!

So, looks like the only way I am going to drop the last 3 pounds is to eat only grapefruit, take slim shots, dexatrim, alli,AND slim fast shakes!!!

So I am healthier, but I really wanted to at least lose the 10 pounds promised on this thread.

I am not unhappy, or stressing over this. I have actually gone to maintence calories for 2 weeks, with exercise and not eating my addl cals. I think my body was at 1300-1400 for too long. We shall see.

Must be in the air today. Sam:heart:

It's my fault. I never shut up. Didn't know it was contagious.:heart:

So, looks like the only way I am going to drop the last 3 pounds is to eat only grapefruit, take slim shots, dexatrim, alli,AND slim fast shakes!!!

So I am healthier, but I really wanted to at least lose the 10 pounds promised on this thread.

I am not unhappy, or stressing over this. I have actually gone to maintence calories for 2 weeks, with exercise and not eating my addl cals. I think my body was at 1300-1400 for too long. We shall see.

    :flowerforyou:

Next time I will read up before blathering about P word when everyone has such serious issues.
