This might my last post for a while as we are headed for California tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get some wifi along the way but not sure about that.

Sandy, I do enjoy all of you, your words of wisdom, humor, and just sharing and supporting one another. Thanks.

Marie, thinking of you, praying for you tomorrow for your surgery. Hope all goes well.

To all of you,

    God bless.

    Good evening to all

We're in Eureka, California at an RV park near the bay so it's cold and windy. We'll be here for two weeks which should be enough time to get together with all the friends and family we came to see.

Jake went to see "Star Trek" with his daughter this afternoon while I finally got out the yoga mat and DVD and did 40 minutes of yoga followed by a 15 minute walk alone and individual walks with the dogs.

Tonight I went to a meeting of a women's group I belonged to for years when I lived here. They noticed that I cut my hair but not that I lost weight.  Oh, well. I gracefully declined the dessert and fruit juice that were served and had a glass of water.

We have a date to have dinner with Jake's daughter and husband on Thursday. We're going to bring chicken, salad makings and a fresh vegetable so we can "take them to dinner" without having to eat in a restaurant.

:flowerforyou: Ellen----enjoy your trip to California

:flowerforyou: Marie---I'm thinking of you and your surgery. Hope all goes well and you'll be up and about and riding your trike.

Big hugs to all

    Happy Wednesday!

Roserex- Welcome to our little group. Some of the nicest people in the world are here. Now you are the youngest here! LOL You booted me from my lofty position! Welcome! If there is anything that I can assist you with just let me know. I have a fair amount of experience at the fitness part of the journey you are on. Just let me know!

Elli- I miss the dead cow!

Barbie- I will bet you money that the other ladies noticed your weight loss!

Sandy- Nice photo! Rested up yet?

Ellen- Have a great trip. I have not been to California in a few years, but I have enjoyed my trips. It is so different from the mid-west.

Pheobe- What's new with you today?

BG- Good to hear that you are well.

Gayla- Just hang in there kid. I know your path will smooth out. My thoughts are with you.

If I missed anyone I will catch up with you later.

I have finished the block/brick job. I have had a couple of job offers but they have both been for less than half of my salary requirement. So I am still searching. My garden is all coming up now and I am competing with the rabbits for success! I have posted a new weight! The goal is getting closer! I think that I am going to shampoo carpets this week and rearrange the kitchen cabinates after I clean my gym area up. Day is doing good. She has dropped another pound! She just does not like to exercise, so we are compensating with diet and carb protien ratios, but sooner or later she will have embrace exercise. I have a week and half to go and I will have completed P90X twice without a day off! I think that I am going to do it again. It has worked well for me, but I have to admit that I am sore and tired! LOL I think that I have figured out how to do the picture upload so I will tackle that soon. Joe (my new cat) is my buddy. I have spoiled him rotten. He just loves the cat in the mirror. He just can't figure out why that cat won't play! Sam has been home for a few days and I afraid to go upstairs to view the damage. She is not my "tidy" daughter! She is more like a tornado on steroids! But it is great having her here. Amanda is doing well and only has a few more days of teaching left for the year. She told me that she is ready for the break.

I will let you all go and check in with you later. Rose, again welcome!

Marie- I didn't forget you. I am thinking of you and wishing you God Speed.

Jeffery, I think they noticed Barbies weight loss also. People are funny sometimes and try not to bring up what they see as shortcomings in themselves by pointing out success of other people. Just the way it is I guess.

Marie, be safe Barbie and I will keep you in our thoughts.

Rose, welcome these really are the nice people that we all wish we could have relationships with.

We've got a full plate today, first we're going shopping at the new Co-Op here, it used to be a very small alternate food store and we helped support it of and on for years sometimes more off than on, hence one of the reasons that we got our health so out of hand. They recently moved to a new building and have quadrupled in size. My daughter says their organic foods are better than ever. When we were farming the produce that we couldn't sell at the Farmer's Market could often be sold to them if the quality was good enough. This afternoon Barbie is going to line dancing and I am doing some work for the company. I have an associate that I need to nurture some she is just getting started, even more of a rookie than I am so I will be spending some time on the phone with her and I have a potential client that I'll be talking to this afternoon. We're seeing friends this evening and I imagine will talk to several on the phone also. I'm glad we took the two days for ourselves before we got to town.

We like it here and had many good years in Northern California. When we left we weren't running away from anything and always have found thoughts of being here. We're both very happy that that we have moved to the North Olympic Peninsula we love it there. When it comes down to it we've been in some part of the Northwest for many years and find that it really is the place that we like the most in all the world. I hope all of you feel the same about your homes.

Be safe, I'll write more when I can until then Barbie will be here for all of us.

Jeffrey, I am so impressed with your weight loss I can't even begin to tell you. :flowerforyou: You should have been on the biggest loser and you would have won all the money. You would have had competition from our room though, BGamma is over 50 pounds, Jake is over 50 pounds and Barbie is 32 pounds. You guys are terrific, I hope someday I reach my goal even though it is taking forever. I know what you mean about a tornado room Jeff, I couldn't believe my grandsons rooms in Minnesota. I am a neat freak, close to obsessive, and they just took clothes off threw them on the floor or left a mess where ever they went. Their mother is also neat obsessive and they told me I was worse than their mother. I made them clean their rooms especially since the older one has a guina pig living in a cage on his dresser. There was shaving and I don't know what all over the floor. :grumble: Didn't want my daughter to come home to that mess. :blushing:

Marie, good luck with your test today, this should determine if or what kind of surgery is needed to help your circulation correct? You are one tough cookie, with all the dieting, walking and testing. :flowerforyou:

Barbie, I can't believe your friends didn't notice 32 pounds is gone from your body. Do they need glasses or what? I do have the same problem though, no one ever mentions that I lost weight and I thought 12 pounds would be noticed. It makes me think I must have been thinner when I saw them and gained the weight without them seeing me and then lost it again the next time they saw me.
Understand all that?   Hopefully, when I go for my yearly check up the doctor will notice. They did notice Jake's loss didn't they cause if no one did, I just wouldn't believe it.

Roserex, hope you will be checking in with us today, we would like to hear little about you.

Ellen, we will miss you but enjoy your trip.

Phoebe, hope you are getting some rest in between all the driving.

BG, how are things with you today?

Gayla, what happened with Neils foot?

Beth, are you still spinning or have you spun off the planet?

Poopy day here, rainy and yucky. Guess I will exercise to get my spirits up.

    Have a good Wednesday.

    Good Afternoon!

Jake- you hit it on the head! Glad you are having a good trip. Getting any golf in? I have not been out yet this year. I have a non malignant tumor around a flexor tendon in my left foot. Twisting on it really aggravates it. I may try it soon but my doc says that my golf days maybe over. I miss golf! Take care and good luck with the potential client.

Sandy- thanks for the compliment! It has been and still is a long hard battle but it is getting easier. Just a life style change. BUT I would kill for a jelly donut!! LOL

    Later!

OK Marie - lots of prayers and thoughts going out to you today! Keep us posted - and rest! Don't wear yourself out ok?

Jeffrey and Jake - i have to agree with both of you. Lots of times people don't want to acknowledge success in others when it makes them think about what they consider to be their own failings. Barbie - don't you let it get you down! You are doing so GREAT! We are all so proud of you. I'm glad you guys get to sit still for a couple weeks now and enjoy people and the place! Jake i really liked your sentiment to us all about loving our homes. I feel that way about where i live and also hope the same for all our mfp buddies!

Hey Rose - welcome to our group! You'll find lots of support and ideas here and just good, down to earth people trying to live a healthy lifestyle!

Sandy - don't you worry - you and i are GOING to reach our goals!!!!!! It's just taking us longer and we do some ups and downs (i lost 1/2 # this morning! woo hoooooooo!) but we WILL get there!:drinker:

I'm going to TRY and make the gym this afternoon, but not sure as my little friend Grace is graduating from pre school:happy: and i don't want to miss THAT! I'll just have to watch my calories. I walked this morning - just for 20 minutes, but it's a good way to begin the day.

OH - we passed in insulation inspection today!!!!!! yippeeeeeeeee:happy:   Such a RELIEF! I think maybe next week we can start on drywall!!!!!!!! AND i picked colors yesterday so pretty exciting! Thank you all for listening to my babblings:tongue: elli

Great job Elli!! I too lost that pound I was worried about. I know it will take time to reach our goal and I am being patient. I know my clothes feel better and I know the exercise is working so I am not going to worry what other people say. Did you ever notice the people who don't take care of their health or worry about what they eat are the biggest critics? I agree with Jake, Jeff and you, these people just hate to see anyone improve their live styles.
Good job on the inspection, that must be a big relief. :glasses:

Jeff sorry to hear about your tendon, hope it gets better enough for you to play some golf, you deserve to get some more fun out of life. I too, love my home and really enjoy staying home with no one to bother me, I can get so much done.

Marie, I am sure you are resting and hope you will be able to fill us in later.

Tonight is my bingo night so wish me luck. :drinker:

Greetings from one of the colder parts of California:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Sandy----I love your new picture. :flowerforyou: You look great! Good luck on Bingo. I hope you have fun as well as luck.

:flowerforyou: Marie----I hope you’re resting from your stressful day with the doctor. I look forward to hearing what the next step will be to get you out there exercising again.

:flowerforyou: Elli---How great that you passed the insulation inspection and that you have your colors picked out.   Is there another big inspection hurdle or just a ton of hard work left to do?

:flowerforyou: Rose---welcome to the group. There’s nothing like having friends to share your ups and downs. I look forward to getting to know you better

:flowerforyou: Jeffrey----your 75 pounds lost is awesome. You have worked so hard to get to that place. With all that exercise and hard work you do, you probably look very buff and fit. I can’t wait to see the pictures. Of course, since you’re so busy being active it will be a long time til you get around to sitting still long enough to upload photos.

Since I started making exercise so important in my life, I’ve noticed that I don’t knit, crochet, or read as much as I used to. When I was doing laundry at the RV park I realized that I didn’t need to have a book with me to read while I waited, instead I played music on my phone and walked the whole time.

Today I got to go to a line dance class. I knew only a few of the dances, but everyone was friendly and the teacher did a walk-through of each of the dances before we danced so I’d have some idea of the steps. There’s another class on Monday.

:flowerforyou: Ellen, Gayla, Phoebe, Biggramma, Beth-:flowerforyou: ---Hope today is another happy healthy one for you.

We're off to see some more friends. There is no rest for the travelers.

Big hugs,

It 's another quick hi to you all tonight. I woke up to a bit of snow and very chilly weather. The forecast is for freezing rain tomorrow and I am supposed to be traveling. I will not hesitate to cancel my appointments if the need arises. I used to go out in any weather but in some things age makes us smarter!! I have been thinking I should be cherishing these last few months of my 50's but today decided that after my birthday I will no longer be in my late 50's but instead in my early 60's (in my weird and strange thinking it somehow sounds better).

I did want to pop on and let Marie know I have been thinking about you today. I am so hopeful that all went well and that a solution will be there to get rid of the pain in your legs.

I also want to welcome Rose.

I think it was Sandy who asked what happened to Neil's foot. I am not sure if you are asking about the start of the problem or what happened yesterday. Neil developed foot deformities as a young boy. After his first surgery he was unable to walk for close to 2 years. We traveled across the country from Vancouver to Montreal and cities in between looking for some answers and no on had any. Once the feet became unbearably painful and he was walking mostly on the sides of his feet we felt we had to start a series of surgeries. Neil wanted them done and wanted his feet to look like mine (very precious but I think his doc hoped he could make them look better than my bunioned feet). We were told that he had something like a 70 % risk of complications ranging from mild to severe. The first two surgeries (hind feet) had the most risk and aside from terrible cast blisters he sailed through. The last surgery was the first of the forefoot surgeries to straighten his toes and remove the joints. While we knew there may be complications we were hopeful. The only complication was that he lost circulation to the fourth toe. The end of the toe was black and looked very ominous but the surgeon was confident that he wouldn't lose the whole toe. What actually happened was that eventually the toe healed under the black end and the black part popped off like a shower cap, quite miraculous actually. However, there was also a black area on the inner aspect of the toe and under that was a large ulcer (like a diabetic ulcer) and it is taking it's sweet time to heal. It was infected and after 3 courses of antibiotics it is no longer infected. I will keep it clean and continue to watch it like a hawk. His surgeon says to bring him in whenever I feel the need for another set of eyes to look at it. He is a wonderful Dr. and an amazing person and we are continually thankful for him. Anyway, the answer was long and it brings us to the present. Thankfully, most of the time it doesn't hurt and he can go out and bike around, visit with his friends and enjoy life.

I have taken up more than my share of everyone's time so will close for now. Have a sensational Thursday everyone. Hope to see you here tomorrow, Marie. Get well.:flowerforyou:

That is quite a story Gayla, thank you for sharing with us. Does Neil walk ok now? I know you told us but I have forgotten, how old is Neil? What great parents you are to never give up on him and get him the surgey needed to help him. Children can be trying and I have always respected the parents with handicap children, they are special people. I believe that God doesn't give to us what we can't handle and you and your husband are special with what you handle. I know it can't always be easy, but you seem so good natured and so intelligent. I don't know what your occupation is, but I think you said it has something to do with other children.
Thanks for being you and when is this next birthday coming?

    Have a good night.

First off I want to thank each one of you for you best wishes. Thanks for the payers. Everything went OK. It was really tiresome. Didn't get home til ater 6 Pm last night I had to lay on my back for 6 hours and not move my right leg at all. Even had to used the bed pan. Jerry had to feed me, for they wouldn't let me moved my head, And talk about a back ache , It was horrible. I had wonderful nurses. There was 6 of us in the room. aand the nurses never left our side. The doctor found I do have blockage in both legs. He will put a stint in both legs one at a time. So that means 2 more trips to the hospital in the near future. No exercise, no heavy lifting over 10 lb. n o heavy housework. I am still prety tired from yesterday..

Thanks again for all the well wishes. Jeffry thanks for the PM.

Will be back later  Marie

Oh Marie, sounds like an awfully long day and an uncomfortable one at that. You are a trooper to be able to lay still for six hours, I can imagine how tired you must have been when you got home. At least they found the problem and hopefully will be able to help you. You listen to them now and don't lift anything over 10 pounds. Now is your time to be pampered and taken care of. Wish we all lived near you so we could take turns taking care of you and babying you. You are in my prayers and I admire your strength and just for being you.

    Hi all,

Sorry to hear about your foot Jeff, I hurt my back about a month ago when i forgot I wasn't forty anymore and tried to buff out the MX5 with an electric buffer. I'm just getting back to playing some. I'm scheduled to play with my son tomorrow so we'll see what happens and I have another date on Monday with a close friend. I'm skipping some work to do it, the way I work I can pick my own hours for the most part so I work about a half a day and it it doesn't matter which twelve hours they are. I'll let you know how it goes. I gotta run now Barbie is meeting some friends for a movie and lunch and she wants me to take her. So I get the car I have too much work to do here so I don't suspect I'll go anywhere. Laundry to do also. Take care. Oh yeah I couldn't see my client yesterday, she had to go somewhere on business so I'll try again today.

    You all be safe,

Wow Marie - sounds like a very long exhausting day yesterday. The good news is - it's OVER. I hope you slept all right and are feeling better today. I'm kind of excited that there is something that can be done for the pain in your legs! I think you will be tricycling away in no time! I agree with Sandy - i think it would be so cool if we all lived close by one another and we could take shifts coming in and looking after you right now. Sorry we don't! But you're definitely in our thoughts and prayers every day!

Gayla - poor Neil has been through so much with his feet. He's sure lucky you and your husband are his parents! I'm so glad you have a Doc who is so helpful and understanding! I hope he, too will be back to tryking around before too long!

oops - posted before i was done!

Barbie - you're awesome - still doing line dancing away from home! Jake - hope you're getting some more golf in! You sound so BUSY on your vacation! Glad you're both getting to hook up with old friends and family! There will be more inspections - thank you for asking! But not until we have more done - i'm hoping they won't be as scary. Next week we start on drywall - i think that will be good 'cause i'll really be able to see a difference!

Sandy - yay!!!! we both lost our pound! We're SO close.......and once we get there i plan on staying here and doing maintenance. Are ya with me? I still have bad days and i just can't figure myself out sometimes! Like yesterday - i did really well. Walked in the morning, ate well, went to the gym after work, ate supper and went to my little buddy's pre school graduation. THEN i got home around 8:00 and just BLEW it! What's UP with that??????? Then i feel bad about myself, and yada yada yada:grumble: Oh well - i'm back on track this morning. that's the GOOD news!

Beth - what's up? We haven't heard from you in awhile!

OK - i better get to work now - we're looking at another company to acquire:laugh: because i don't have enough going on as it is!!!!!!!!!

    Love you guys! elli

Hi to everyone else as well. I need to start getting something ready for dinner. No rest for the wicked! Or is that weary??

Marie---What an exhausting day for you and yet you were able to appreciate all the help and kindness of the staff that helped you. How exciting to know that there is something they can do to help you. You'll be triking (is that a word:laugh: ) around in no time. Do exactly what the doctor says and you'll be up and about before you know it. Let everybody take care of you for a change.

I went to the movie with my friend this morning (it's a club for seniors that shows a first run movie once a month at a regular movie theatre) They collect food for the food bank and serve coffee and doughnuts. the movie was "The Ghost of Girlfriends Past" and it was hilarious and thought provoking. then we went to lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant. I read the whole menu and passed on a bunch of favorites that i used to eat in favor of stir fried vegetables in garlic sauce and ate on a small portion of white rice.

Jake did the laundry while I was gone

Sandy and Elli---I look forward to the day when I'm close to my goal like you two I've learned a lot from your sharing and will make good use of it when I need it

    Gayla
you work so hard and keep such a sunny spirit---I admire you a lot

We're bringing the food to our daughter and son-in-law's house tonight and cooking for them so we don't have to go to a restaurant and they don't have to deal with what to do with Jack (age 7 months). so we get to eat what we want (chicken, salad, broiled veggies) and they don't have to disrupt their son's routine.

    big hugs

Hi to all of you. I am feeling much better today than yesterday. As I was taking a nap my doctor called and told me to report to the hospital at 6:30 AM FRIDAY MAY 22 for the second surgery. Hope it wont be as bad as yesterday. I will have the same nurses and I am glad of that. I will have to called the doctor office tomorrow and confirm all of this. For sometime Jerry don't listen as good as he should and get things mixed up. Or add some of his own words.

I better get an e-mail off to Beth and see if everything is alright with her. I worry about that yougin" over there in the mist of all that.

Did get an E-mail from Phoebe this morning. I think they must be on there way home.

Gayla, thanks to you,Ellie. barbie, Jake, Big G.- Sandy. Jeffrey.,Ellen--- I would love to meet you all someday. To have fun together, We know so much about one another but never met in person.

    Love to all

Thanks Marie for updating us on your health and on Beth. Our continued prayers and good wishes will be with you for you next surgery. In the meantime just take it easy and get as much rest as you can.

Barbie, you do so well that when you get down to your last 5 pounds it will probably melt off of you.
Elli and I are really trying to shed these last few pounds, so we are good for one another in encouraging each other. We all encourage each other here though and without you wonderful friends I am not sure I would have stuck it out. I am so happy that I have the support to keep me going. Who knows maybe I can lose an extra few pounds when I reach my goal.

I bought some hummus today and I like it. I bought a jar and used it as a dip on wheat crackers.
It has a tomato base and reminds me of chili. I had to go to a special store in my area to find it, but I didn't check the regular grocery store to see if they have it.

Getting sleepy now, so will check in the morning to see how everyone is doing. Have sweet dreams.

    Good Morning Friends!

TGIF! Not a lot to report. I had a real busy day yesterday but got everything done. Getting a little more luck on the job search but nothing too far along yet. I have a little work to do in town today and then some transplanting here at home. Tonight is karate night. I really enjoy that. We are supposed to get severe weather today and we had an awful storm Wednesday night but no real damage here.

Marie- I am relieved to hear you are recovering. I think that in a few weeks you will feel much better!

Everyone else I will catch up with you later today.

    Take care one and all!

    Good Morning,

Like Jeffrey, we are expecting more rain today, we had the same storm he did on Wednesday but suffered no damage or flooding. Will summer ever get here? :ohwell:

Marie, you be careful with that walking, did your doctor say it was ok? I wouldn't worry about the weight gain until after all your surgeries are done. Since I didn't go to the grocery store yesterday I just stopped in Capotos, which is more of an ethnic type store (mostly Italian) and found the jar of hummus there. I went to Walmart but couldn't find it and asked someone and they said they didn't have it, but I don't think she really knew what it was. I wanted to buy this wheat cereal my step daughter told me about and she said she got it at walmart, but again I couldn't find it. Does it seem like a pattern here? In all honestly, I usually don't do the grocery shopping, my husband does. I only go when we run out of meat, then I go and stock up. He goes almost everyday for deals at different stores. It keeps him busy and since I don't like grocery shopping it works well.

Hope everyone is doing good, staying safe and enjoying life.

Marie I am glad to hear you are doing well...just do not over do it....take it very easy.....and don't worry about the weight gain...the surgery could have caused it...anesthetics do strange things to your body...plus maybe you need that added weight to fight the affects of the surgery.....

Nothing much going on here....I went to the grocery store this morning...first time I have been any place since Saturday....I am a stay at home person...not because I can't get out...I just have no place to go...

I am enjoying our cool high 80's - low 90's.....because a heat wave is suppose to be here Sunday and Monday....record breaking temps due...in the 100's.

I am so in awe of you people here...you exercise so much...I only am able to do two fifteen minute sessions on my elliptical.....Guess I am just a wimp....You all put me to shame...

I hope you all had a good week and that your weekend will be wonderful....:flowerforyou:

WHAT WHIMP!!! Are you serious BG?? You put most of us to shame, look at how much weight you lost and you kept it off and you are still trying to lose more. If anyone puts any one to shame it you who puts us to shame. :glasses: You are terrific and you have to let your self know how special you are.
We love you here and again wish we lived closer to you so that we could hang out together.
