    Greetings

Still on the recovery list but I am feeling a little bit stronger and wanted to catch up on the threads. Miss a day and you can miss a lot:bigsmile:

My weight is continuing to decrease (4 lbs) and I got my tape measure out today and it showed a decrease in my hips by 1.5 inches, my thighs by 1 inch and my forearms by 1/2 inch. Needless to say I am pleased with these results:blushing:

Barbie--Congratulations on dropping some more weight:bigsmile: You go girl:drinker: Your road trip sounds so inviting. I cannot wait until we can dewinterize our 5th wheel and go on our first camping trip of the season. Thanks so much for your support and kindness and I love reading about you adventures in your RV. Keep us posted:happy:

Susan--glad that you are feeling better:smile: I would not be able to move without a lot of pain if it wasn't for my massage therapist and physiotherapist. At first I had to get over the misconception that having a massage was a luxury and not a requirement for a better quality of life for me. I go for massage every 2 weeks and physio once a week. It is amazing the results I have achieved since making that a part of my life. Congratulations on dropping another pound and keep continuing to get better:happy:

Elli--sounds like everything is coming together with the house. I bet you can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel? Good for you remaining focussed and looking after yourself. I am sure that it would be so easy to forgo the intentional exercise when confronted with so many other tasks. I am so proud of you for making time for yourself:heart:

Anne--you are a real gem and an inspiration to all of us:heart: You continue to amaze me with your wonderful spirit. Thank you and big ((((HUGS)))))

Vickim26-welcome to what in my opinion is the best group of women:bigsmile: I truly feel honoured to be included in. There is a lot of encouragement, motivation and support to enjoy and gain positive results from here. I wish you lots of success:flowerforyou:

Heather--so glad that you are doing better and making time for yourself:flowerforyou: Keep working at it and it will all come together.

Zaza--we miss you and hope you are doing well:happy:

Hope everyone else is doing great:flowerforyou:

    Marie:heart:

    Just a quick hello,
Welcome to newcomers, so glad to see you. This is a great thread and just what us "more mature" folks need. It's different fighting this battle now than it is during younger years. It's good to have people to talk to who understand. The support and encouragement is wonderful.

Trying to post a picture of 'Bouti since we're into our animals this month. Hope it comes through.

    :flowerforyou: heathier4me...Great weight lose.

:flowerforyou: Doobiedoo...I did the same thing when I first joined MFP. It does take some getting used to. The threads are something that I had no experience with.

Had a good day. Kept busy and did go to the gym for about 1 hour and 1/2. I felt so good with myself after. I just love going.

I read on one of the threads that they up the incline and intensity or level, something like that, when on the machines. That way my joints will not get worn out so that is what I did. I enjoyed it. I find I don't get as many aches and pains in my knees. Sometimes I would go so fast and feel my knees start to hurt. Doing it slower with more intensity really worked. I got my heart rate up but did not burn out. Slow and steady, well I did push it a little but not crazy. I don't want an injury, and I sure know what that is like. Now I have to get my strength training back in. Sometimes I'm so lazy.

I hope everyone has a great evening.

:flowerforyou: Kathy...One thing that they recommend is to go at full force for a minute or two and then slow down for the same length of time. This is suppose to really burn the calories. I do this when I use the stationary bike and have found success doing this.

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Greetings from 435 miles down the road. We’re at the RV park at 7 Feathers Casino in Canyonville, Oregon. I looked for Barb and Esther as we drove through Vancouver and Salem and waved just in case.
We stayed away from the casino and the restaurants this time and spent our time walking while the dogs played in the dog yard then went to the fitness center and spent an hour split between the treadmill and the stationery bike. We drove through a lot of rain, sleet, and wind but now the skies are clear.

:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Drinking water today became a challenge when we passed two rest stops in a row that were closed.

I had an Isagenix shake with a banana for breakfast, a hardboiled egg mid morning, and Isagenix meal replacement bar for lunch, and chicken with salsa, broccoli, and salad for dinner. Cereal and soy milk later. I want to have a lot of low cal, high exercise days before we get to places with friends who want to go to restaurants and a busy schedule.

:flowerforyou: Elli---you’re doing great balancing all your house building and exercise and still taking time to relax. You are amazing.

:flowerforyou: Susan, thank you for the story of Buffie. It brought tears to my eyes.

:flowerforyou: Heather----you are amazing with your walking. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the info about your pets. We had a Golden Retriever before we got our poodles.

:flowerforyou: Cheryl----when you get lonely go hug those beagles. They will cheer you up more than anything.

:flowerforyou: Vickim---welcome to the group. There’s something about checking in with these ladies every day that keeps me going and motivates me to go on for one more day.

:flowerforyou: Kathy----I’m so glad you didn’t let the big bump in the road slow you down too much. Take the time to heal a little at a time and you’ll come out of the tunnel stronger. You can do it.

:flowerforyou: Marie----your loss of weight and inches are fabulous especially at a time when you’re not feeling so well. When I was in my 40’s and had pneumonia and wasn’t recovering fast, Jake said, “remember, you’re not as young as you used to be” It made me mad at the time, but later I realized that he wanted me to realize that recovery would take a little longer.

    :flowerforyou: Diane,--‘Bouti is a cutie

    :flowerforyou: Doobiedo
if you’ve lost 16 pounds then you must be doing something right

:flowerforyou: Becky----thanks for the tip on using the exercise bike. I’ll try that next time.

Big hugs to all of you:heart::heart:

    HAPPY WEDNESDAY ALL,

KATHY, SO GLAD YOU ARE MOVING FORWARD. SLOW AND STEADY WON THE RACE. YOU WENT THROUGH AN ORDEAL THAT MIGHT HAVE DERAILED SOME PEOPLE FOR A VERY VERY LONG TIME.
WEEKEND WEIGHT LOSS WARRIOR WILL BE BACK FULL FORCE IN NO TIME. ***HUGS***.

HEATHER, THE HEEL PAIN SLOWED YOU DOWN,BUT YOU FOCUSED ON HOW MUCH YOU DID DO. THAT IS THE WAY TO GO, GOOD FOR YOU. WALKING THE 15 MINUTES INSTEAD OF SITTING IN THE CAR WAS A GREAT IDEA. EACH LITTLE THING WE DO ADDS UP.

BOBBIE, IN SPITE OF SOME ROUGH WEATHER, SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE HAVING A FUN TIME.
HOW GOOD DOES IT FEEL TO GO ON A TRIP AND NOT FOCUS ON THE RESTAURANTS AND FOOD?
THAT'S WHAT MAKES YOU AND JAKE WINNERS. I JUST LOVE THAT YOU ARE ON VACATION WITH YOUR PETS.

ELLI, I'M FROM THE BROOKLYN QUEENS BORDER THAT WAS CALLED CITY LINE BROOKLYN. IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE MAFIA MOB BOSS, JOHN GOTTI, HIS "CLUB" WAS JUST A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE. WE SAW HIM MANY TIMES IN A RESTAURANT CALLED VILLA RUSSO.
IN LONG ISLAND I LIVED IN LINDENHURST.
YOU ARE DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB ,OR SHOULD I SAY BALANCING ACT, WITH THE HOUSE, EXERCISE AND RELAXING. I HOPE YOU MAKE SURE ABOUT THE RELAXING PART. I AM A FIRM BELIEVER THAT IF YOU DON'T TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF,YOU CAN'T TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR LIFE.

CHERYL, GLAD IF READING OUR POSTS HELPED A BIT. LIFE IS A JOURNEY FILLED WITH CHANGES AND SOME TAKE TIME TO ADJUST. SO, ANOTHER BEAGLE PERSON. THESE MUST BE THE GREATEST DOGS EVER. THEY SURE LOOK CUTE ON THE PICTURES I AM SEEING. HAVE TO SAY THAT SOME OF THE STORIES ARE TOO SAD FOR ME. I PREFER THE UPBEAT, HAPPY OR SILLY STORIES, BUT THAT'S JUST ME. THAT'S WHY I WON'T GET ANY MORE DOGS,I AM TOO EMOTIONAL ABOUT THEM.

VICKIM, WELCOME TO THE GROUP. YOU SAY YOU GOT WITHIN 1LB AND "COULDN'T" GO ANY FURTHER. TRY TO THINK REALLY HARD ABOUT WHAT STOPPED YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY AT THAT POINT. SOMEWHERE INSIDE,YOU KNOW THE ANSWER. PEOPLE STOP FOR ALL SORTS OF REASONS. THEY GET SCARED THAT MORE WILL BE EXPECTED OF THEM, THEY FEEL THEY ARE LOSING A "FRIEND" THAT THEY HAVE LEARNED TO DEPEND ON,(SOMETIMES FOOD IS OUR ONLY CONSTANT FRIEND) THINGS LIKE THAT. IT MAY HELP TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF BETTER. I SURE DO WISH YOU SUCCESS THIS TIME AROUND. POSTING HERE WILL HELP YOU A LOT. EVERYONE SUPPORTS YOUR EFFORTS AND ENCOURAGES YOU. YOU DO SOUND DETERMINED TO MAKE IT AND I KNOW YOU WILL. WISHING YOU SUCCESS.

MARIE, YOU ARE SO RIGHT,IT IS HARD TO CATCH UP WHEN YOU MISS A DAY OF READING THE POSTS.
KEEP TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF AND SOON YOU WILL BE BACK 100%. GLAD YOU ARE COMING ALONG OK. LOSING THE 4LBS,NO MATTER WHY, IS A PLUS.

DIANE, BOUTI IS SO SWEET LOOKING.

DOOBIE, 16LBS SO FAR, 3LBS LAST WEEK, GREAT JOB.

AT WEIGHT WATCHERS YESTERDAY, THE LEADER ASKED IF ANY OF US SABOTAGE OURSELVES WITH THOUGHTS THAT ARE REPEATED IN OUR MINDS OVER AND OVER UNTIL IT HAPPENS JUST THE WAY WE THOUGHT IT WOULD. I COULD RELATE TO THAT BECAUSE AT TOPS I HAD NOT GAINED ONE BIT OF WEIGHT IN 42 WEEKS AND LOST OR STAYED THE SAME ALL THAT TIME. WHEN THE HOLIDAYS STARTED (MID OCTOBER, HALLOWEEN WAS FIRST),I STARTED QUESTIONING MYSELF AND FEELING LIKE I JUST COULD NOT DO WELL AT THE HOLIDAYS. GUESS WHAT, I DIDN'T. I ATE TOO MUCH AND TOOK 4 WEEKS TO GET BACK ON TRACK. SO, THIS TIME AROUND,I WILL PLAN AND KNOW THAT I CAN DO WELL EVEN AT THE HOLIDAY SEASON. I WILL ASK FOR HELP AND ADVICE BEYOND THE USUAL AND I WILL MAKE IT WORK! HOORAY FOR POSITIVE THINKING.

WISH EVERYONE A GOOD DAY, MAKE THOSE GOOD CHOICES. DOESN'T THIN FEEL BETTER? IT SURE DOES.

    ANNE

    Good mornin',

I'm so impressed with all of you who manage to answer us individually. You have both my praise and thanks. I usually read all of the posts, but by then one of the kids needs something and I've lost track of who said what. Just know I love hearing from all of you and I'm there whether I respond to everyone individually or not.

3 weeks before I leave for Saipan! My daughter is only 2 weeks away from delivery, so I expect the new baby will beat me there.

I won't have accomplished my weight goal (I'm still 6 lbs away) but I've lost 20lbs since I saw them last, so that will do. These last 10 lbs have been so hard! My commendations to all of us who struggle here at this age. It ain't easy.

I'll check in later. Best to all. Diane

Ditto on the above. Maybe someday I'll get it together enough to remember who said what. But I enjoy reading it all too and am thrilled to find this motivated group of ladies.

Today I finally feel like rejoining the land of the living... or maybe I should say exercising.

This was my FIRST therapeutic massage and he TOLD me I would be very sore the next day. He wasn't kidding! I didn't do much of anything yesterday but drink water and sit in my recliner on the hot pad. Every time I ventured off of it about 15 minutes later I was hurting again. BUT I didn't have to take a bunch of pain meds and I stayed within my calorie allotment even without exercise. I dug some old family movies out of the closet and spent the day laughing and crying as I took a trip down memory lane. I relived my daughter's graduation, Moma's 80th birthday bash and a 50's theme dinner theatre we had one year at church. Last night I slept better than I have in I can't tell you when.

I'm anxious for weigh in day to see if the massage upped my weight loss or not.... It would be so exciting to be able to lose MORE than a pound a week... tomorrow will tell!

Now that I can function again, I am going to make a much overdue trip to Sam's and do a bit of walking. Happy Wednesday y'all!

    Morning all,

I did not have to drive my little guy to school today, his mom had to take him to the doctor. So, I had time to get the Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD in. Just finished. Now, I am going to get to the gym for some more cardio. I am just doing what needs to get done. Somethings got the back of my shirt and just pulling me along.

Glad you are feeling better :flowerforyou: Sue. Take it slow. I love watching family movies. I have been changing mine from cassettes to DVD. What a chore.

Hi :flowerforyou: Anne thanks for your support. I really appreciate it. Love yours words of wisdom. It sure help me.

:flowerforyou: Diane, lately I just can't get to everyone. But, I have read all. Lately I just can keep it all in my head. BUT, I know you are going to have a new grandbaby soon. How exciting. Wish you the best.

Bosco slept on the couch while I did my workout. It did not bother him at all.

Well, better get going, I check in when I log my lunch. Spinach salad. Yum, can't wait.

    Best to ALL:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

    Good morning everyone:flowerforyou:

Thank you so very much for your support and motivation. You all continue to inspire me:heart:

I am feeling a little stronger today and decided that I will tackle a little bit of laundry and housecleaning:happy: The sun is shining and the laundry is dancing on the outside line:bigsmile: Everyday I look forward to checking in with you all. Just knowing that you have others that can relate to what is happening in your life is like a breath of fresh air:heart:

Even though I haven't had much chance to do anything with my flower beds I am enjoying discovering what plant is popping up, stretching to the sunlight! Last night I had my bedroom window open and a lively frog chorus serenaded me to sleep. The bunnies have returned to the yard and are playfully entertaining me, the birds are singing their sweet music and I give thanks for I am blessed:heart: Isn't life and nature grand?

Hope everyone enjoys their day wherever or whatever you are doing:flowerforyou:

We're about to hit the road again so I have only a minute but I've been thinking about things that are roadblocks to weight loss and I have a thought.

When I made the decision to lose weight I was motivated by the thought that my clothes would fit better and I'd be able to wear a few things that were still in my closet that were too small. By the time I'd lost 10 pounds, things fit better. From there on all my clothes started to look baggy. the 50+ ladies told me to get rid of my clothes that were baggy and move forward. that was fine with the jeans. i bought new smaller ones and felt better. Since then I have given away almost every piece of clothing i own. I have been in tears as I discard a dress that I've loved for years.  I don't know what to buy now or where to find it. My "big" wardrobe was acquired over years of searching and serendipity. Right now I have two pairs of jeans and some shirts that fit. I don't know what my style is and sometimes I yearn for the familiar. I have to remind myself daily that this will have a good outcome that I have to do it one day at a time and that nobody cares if I rotate the same five shirts and two pairs of jeans.

On the positive side, with Jake and me thinner, there's a lot more room in the bed for the dogs and cats.

Congratulations to all four of you on your weight loss. Isn't it great to have family along for this journey. You are so fortunate. Best wishes for continued success. Take it one day at a time and don't let anyone distract you from your goal:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
