I'm gonna guess the 30 minutes of exercise does more than the lasers

That part is mandatory to burn off the excess... so yes!

When was your first session? If you have been doing 30m of cardio daily and eating within your calorie limit for the last.. oh, say six weeks.... there is probably a very high chance those things, and those things alone caused your four centimeter loss.
  • A lot of you are extremely rude to these women. Its a free country and good for them for trying something that makes them feel better about themselves. I saw an episode on Dr Oz about the treatments and if I had the money I would do it too!!! In fact, most of these mean people who are attacking these women wouldn't turn down 6 free sessions, now would they? The only thing that has worked for me has been diet and exercise but I would jump on board to try those treatments, so you go girls, make yourself happy and don't listen to people who are negative.

Dr. Oz is a quack and a media *kitten*. He'll hawk anything that pays him to do so. I wouldn't do something on his recommendation, and I wouldn't do one free session of this program. It isn't doing anything that eating less and moving more isn't doing for me already.

Not sure he's a media *kitten*, he's certainly an Oprah lemming for sure! I think Dr Oz has some good things to say but he seems to contradict himself every week depending on who his " special guest " is.

Maybe that is true, although he is an actual doctor so I would rather listen to him over you, but I am not sure how being mean to someone who wants to try something different is approapriate. She is doing her thing and you can do yours. She has lost 30 lbs so I think whatever she is doing is working for her.

Wait... am I understanding this right? We're laser-ing fat away now?

Damn it. Why can't I come up with things like that? I got all sortsa lasers. I could have been rich by now.

Look I think many of us here are being quite rude and inappropriate. The boards are meant to encourage others, not put them down. It is up to each person to decide how they want to lose weight, and while we may not agree with it, there's not point in being so degrading to fellow members.

That being said, I do not have any knowledge on the i-Lipo procedures, but I do know that it said worldwide by professionals that simple diet and exercise, along with a large dose of discipline and determination, is really your best route. Fat accumulates unless you burn it off, and removing through other methods is only temporary. The healthiest way to do so is through proper diet and exercise.

Bless your heart, you're new, aren't you? Welcome to the site.

You don't seem to understand what a control is do you? If she had made no changes to diet or exercise and she had lost 30 pounds from magical lasers or vibration machines or whatever this junk is, then yes, that would be pretty amazing. However, she's done both of the things I mentioned which means there's no way to show that this "treatment" is what's responsible for her weight loss. Diet changes and increases exercise have been shown to cause weight loss though...

Can I just jump in and explain something?

To the poster who said they lose 2 inches after a hours running...good for you! You are very lucky. Most average people won't. Although I reckon it's all water loss and the second you drink any liquid, the inches come back on. If not, again, you are very lucky!

To the poster who said it's more the 30mins of cardio that contribute to the inch loss, no, it's the fact that your fat cells are no longer holding the fat and are less voluminous. The cardio is to burn the fatty acids that have been released into your blood stream as enery, otherwise they will just be reabsorbed as normal and go back into the fat cells.

To all you posters who think that over 6 weeks doing diet and exercise will give you the same results, no they won't because this is TARGETED inch loss from specific areas of your body. I have lost nearly 30lbs since August, which is amazing to me, and I've lost inches from everywhere, EXCEPT my stomach, as this is typically the last place on MY BODY that the fat stored is used as energy. If you've seen the picture of me in that god awful red dress that I wish I'd never worn, you will see how much my stomach sticks out, and I hate it.

To the posters who think I, or anyone else is wasting our money, fair enough, but that's only if it DOESN'T WORK. I am not going to stop dieting and exercising, that's not why I'm doing this. I'm not replacing diet and exercise with a quick fix, I have been given the opportunity to, for a much smaller fee thanks to groupon, see for myself that this works. And if it does, you can be damn sure I will recommend it to anyone else who wishes their little pocket of unmoveable fat would just go away.

And I think anyone who needs to lose weight and says they would turn down surgery (invasive or non-invasive) for a sliver of the price it usually costs is lying (unless they are genuinely afraid of surgery). I was like that several years ago (I will never ever use surgery for any reason!) - of course, I was young and didn't have wobbly bits apart from my bosom.

And finally, for those posters who say Dr. Oz is a quack...who is Dr. Oz? Is he like Dr. Dre? I am from the UK where our doctors don't usually advertise quick fixes on the telly. Also, by the way, i-lipo in this country has thus far been word of mouth. It's not advertised on the telly/radio. I was put onto it by someone else who was told about it, etc etc.

AND FINALLY FINALLY - can any of the posters HONESTLY say that in their lives they have NEVER tried any so-called 'quick fixes'?? Slendertone? Slimming tablets? Thigh-buster? 7-minute abs????

And to everyone who posted their opinion of the procedure, you are entitled to your opinion, but NO ONE ANSWERED MY QUESTION! Lol!

    Excellent rebuttle (standing ovation)...

I too got the groupon deal and I really does hope it works out for you as it has me! As for your original question... I was told that I should do exercise within 6 hours of the treatment... not sure if this was calculated based on the time it takes the cells to re-deposit... or a guestimate... you may have to look up research into fatty acid synthesis - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatty_acid_synthesis

    Good luck!

A new day, a new me.... love and compassion to all the meanie nagativitators out there! Let the sun shine on you and your overly sarcastic and oppressive opinionated ways!

I think the best thing to do would be to post before and after pics once this has been done. Then all of you can decide for yourselves if I wasted my money. If it doesn't work, of course I have wasted my money, just like I tried to dye my hair with red, but because my hair is so dark, it never shows, so that IS a waste of money.

OP - I have zero ability to answer your questions (I clicked because I saw your title and was interested in what your question was in regards to  ) however, I am really sick of the negativity on these message boards (no I'm not new). If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all - did any of your mother's teach you that? Or was that just on my list of things my mother taught me. She didn't ask your opinion of whether it worked or she was wasting her freakin' money - she asked a specific question about working out following the procedure. Good Lord, if you wanted to share your opinion on the procedure, you could have, at the very least, done it in a courteous way.

MFP, the last time I checked, was supposed to be a supportive community, not one where you're supposed to bash everyone because they're weight loss journey is different from your own. Give it a freakin rest. OP - I hope this works for you :drinker:

I would think that correcting scientific fact and trying to save people from scams is very supportive. Unless you would prefer boards full of quick fixes, high sugar recipes and $19.99 exercise gimmicks.

I, for one, not new either am tired of all the misinformation on these boards.

But then again, neither of us had to throw in our 2c, did we?

Once again, not understanding the way a control works. If you made no changes to diet or exercise then you might have some claim. However, you didn't, so you have no way of knowing if it's the "treatment" that's doing it.

Thirty pounds since August with these treatments? I've lost 20 pounds since July doing nothing more than counting calories and exercising. And not even consistently or with any real changes to my lifestyle. I ate less and moved more and got close to the same results as someone who spent a lot of money on a 'treatment' ..... also, if this targets fat loss, why aren't you having fat loss targeted on your stomach?? Wouldn't you shoot for the place that's most difficult to lose the fat?

You are reading the post all wrong....

    1) She hasn;t had the treatment yet
    2) She is getting it targeted on the stomach because through weight loss she is not seeing results there...
    3) It's not a lot of money... it was a deal
