Not there on upper body strength yet, but I'm getting there--trying to master real push ups.

I can do some chins but only half a pull-up. I currently use the assisted pull-up/dip machine at the gym and have it set on 70 pounds. With that weight, I do 3 sets of 10. When I can do more than 10 easily, I will decrease the weight on the machine. My goal by doing this is to be able to do 10 chins or 10 pulls easily without any weight so I can change my answer to F/32/125 (my goal weight)/10/10 and possibly more than that.

For most of my life the answer would have been a nice, no questions asked 0.

But since I've started strength training I can do 3 sets of 3 not-so-pretty pullups. And I'm proud of that.
    Nice one, keep it up!

    None. Yet.

My arms and shoulders are strong, but with a body that weighs 235 now (and previously 268...) strong don't cut the mustard.

I'm hoping that when I hit 200 I can both start running, and doing pullups.

    F / 47 / 163 - 5'10" / 0 / 0 ..... and I am PISSED that I can't. I have been working on assisted ones for a while. I'm determined to be able to do at least 2 pullups.

I focus on form and control while doing pullups. No swinging, and proper muscle use. None of that swinging/kipping nonsense.

    15 under hand(chinups), 13 overhand shulder width(chest to bar)
9 wide grip, though i've never really tried any of these when totally fresh.

First, please forgive all of this because I am a smart butt by nature....

Allow me to be funny...Thou hadst added the correct term...thank you, they ARE called chin ups. Are those African or European chin ups? Explosion in 3...2...1

Now on a serious note, let's advise the Commandant that there is an issue with his order below...

    MARINE CORPS ORDER 6100.13
From: Commandant of the Marine Corps

    section 5.A.8 on "pull ups"

    (8) The bar must be grasped with both palms facing either forward or
    to the rear.

A theory that was pounded into my head a long time ago are chin ups are useless when was the last time you gripped a wall/bar or anything else underhand to get your heavy but over it. I took this to heart and haven't done chins ever since.

Been a while since doing bodyweight only, but last count was 25 CU/20 PU.

I'm doing em with weight now in pursuit of a true one-handed CU. The theory is that once you get to lifting about 70% of your bw, you should be close. I'm pulling up between 70-80 lbs now (about 54%), so getting kinda close.
