No reason why I ask this... I promise. It's just an innocent question. :blushing:

Do you wear your ring when you lift weights?? I would imagine it's a hassle taking it off and putting it back on but I also imagine it could hurt or get in the way when you work out.

Hehe. I've injured my finger so it won't fit over my knuckle anymore. So I haven't worn mine in about 9 years.

engaged no wedding band yet but i do have rings i usually have on.. but when lifting i have to take it off as the grid ruins the ring, my rings are thick and when hands sweat they create a white "moisture" ring under the finger.. looks like my fingers gonna die lol so i take all my rings off and now i started to take my chain off too as its getting too tight around my neck during certin excersises...
  • I'm not a guy but, I'm married and even lifting "woman" weight sets my ring(s) pinches me and I hate it. So, yes I to take mine off to.

I take it off. I'm not ruining the fabulous diamond my husband worked so hard to put on my finger!

I know I'l catch hell for this... but my husband and I are gonna get wedding band tats! What up!!! We both have jobs where we can't wear our rings when we work... so easy-peasy lemon squeezy probem solved!

That's cool, I think they're brilliant ideas although my ex husband has my name on his ring finger. Ooops!!

 ^ I'll never ever get anyone's name tat'd on my body for this very reason.

I find that wearing my weigh gloves stops a lot of the issues of rings and lifting weight ..... I no longer take of my Super Bowl XXVI ring or my pimp ring when I am lifting.

I'm not a guy, but I lift heavy.. and I keep my ring on. Of course, it's a simple gold band. I even keep it on to do deadlifts, so if there's an excuse others give for the ring pinching them, etc, it's not true. Or why are you at the gym if you can't take a tiny pinch on the palm?
    OH, GIVE ME A BREAK.

I work out in the comfort of my own home, have never stepped foot in a gym, and I ALWAYS take my ring off when I am going to do any kind of workout due to potential damage, loss, AND YES, PINCHING. I take it off if I'm playing drums too, because the pinching is exponentially worse for some reason. If I were in public, I'd wear it around my neck on a chain.

I've got a tungsten carbide band that's pretty wide, but I wear it anyway. It only really bothers me when I'm doing free weights. I pretty much never take it off, and certainly wouldn't at the gym... some of those ladies are quite brazen ;)

If your ring doesnt fit well... cause you ... i dunno.... lost weight? then it can pinch so badly if it slips and you get these big black and red blisters on the pads of your palm and lifting sucks then. plus if the bars are that rough metal, it scrapes gold.

I know this question is for guys, but I take off my engagement ring ANY time I exercise. I don't want to risk damaging it or losing it, plus, my fingers swell when I get hot.

Those are my reasons, as well!
  • I'm not a guy but I always take off my rings when working out even if just going out for a run. Calluses are not attractive on girls.

I'm damn proud of my calluses. I've worked my @ss off for them. And I guarantee most men aren't looking at my calluses.

Just came from the gym and yes, I wore my ring. (3 weeks ago I would have said I couldn't take it off if I wanted to... )

I have lost enough weight that my rings easily slip off. Therefore I hook them on my key ring. Lifting weights I often had problems with additional pressure on my ring finger, also sweating hands can cause a calcium buildup under the ring causing irritation. That said, I think married folks oughta wear their rings, but as mentioned, there are exceptions.

This is why I got a tattoo to replace my wedding band.

I lift at home with powerblock dumbbells and I take my ring off when I work out. It is a pretty wide one though and the pinch or change in my grib is very disstracting.

I have to say, if I lift wearing my ring without gloves it tears open my hand really badly. Plus, it bangs up the band. Gloves or take it off!

I'm not married, but if I was I wouldn't wear my ring while lifting. When I worked for AT&T a coworker got most of the flesh ripped off his ring finger when using his extension ladder.

I wish my hubs wouldnt wear his b/c i hate when things get thrashed, and I DO wear mine just b/c I forget to take it off...so no ring at the gym (or anywhere for that matter)is not a good indicator of married or not married...

Both my husband and I lift at the gym. Bench presses, deads etc. and neither of us wear our rings. It isn't pain caused by the ring. It's to prevent our gold wedding bands from getting scratched up.

I am a wo-man..I don't wear my ring to the gym...but for that matter..I usually forget to wear it. Personally..wearing a ring or not doesn't mean anything...I try to remember... we both have matching tattoos..so I don't give a crap if i wear it or not..

The ring stays on. My testicles remain in the box in the nightstand as well.

I take mine off. I used to wear it up until a buddy of mine broke his finger at the gym and they had to cut the ring off to remove it. My gym is at my work office and everyone knows I'm married anyhow.

I'm not a guy either, but I do take my rings off when I work out - Just to protect the rings. I have lost the smaller diamond chips out of my ring before and bent the ring. Also, my rings tend to come off easily.

It's not like when I wear one, the ladies avoid me like the plague and when I don't wear one, I have to ask all of them to take a number. Considering I'm pretty busy triple setting all my lifts and trying to fit my workout + cardio in before the gym closes, I don't have time to really chit chat. Much less notice any woman being interested in me. Like that really happens anyway. gah

Definitely take it off, it hurts my finger if I am lifting heavy and I don't want to damage it either.
