preparation - plan your meals in advance so your not in the situation where you have nothing to cook for lunch or dinner and you take the easy way and go down to the closest fast food outlet.

Once you get that addictive food in you its easy for it to spread like cancer and you will continue to go back on that road.

    I have two:

1.) Avoid the Mother In Law who says she can cook, but ultimately you end up in the hospital with severe food poisoning. Thats not the way you should lose weight.

2.) Avoid the Mother's cooking who thinks your food allergies/sensitivities are a doctor's lie... Having intestinal-related and gastric related symptoms due to allergies and sensitivities are not the way you should lose weight.

    Strength train.

Eat what you want, when you want... Don't let people force you into believing that you must eat clean or that you have to eat 5-6 meals a day.

    Understanding that it's a choice.

I choose to work out longer, I choose to eat something I shouldn't.

I choose to either live with or give into the discomfort of hunger or the pain of strenuous exercise, period.

It's not about anything or anyone else, it's 100% about the choices I make.

When you want chocolate, stay calm and have sweetened tea instead.

But dark chocolate at 60% or more triggers free fatty acids to burn fat.
I lost pounds eating dark chocolate....

    Sigh...

Snack, snack, snack! I had problems with being STARVING hungry between meals and once I started having mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks (and sometimes after dinner snack), it became more manageable. My snacks usually consists of a serving of almonds and a fruit. Find a healthful snack that works for YOU and it'll make life much easier.
  • Drink lots of water. I normally have lots of plain green tea. No milk or sugar. Eliminates all snacks wanted throughout the day.

I disagree with this. You have to eat to lose.

Don't compare yourself with others. Don't fret because someone else is losing faster than you. Don't be concerned about that buff chick at the gym who can run on the treadmill while you are walking. And if you're going to watch the Biggest Loser, remember that these programs aren't realistic.

Build muscle in addition to eating "right". More muscle = burning more fat!
  • Plan one (and only one) cheat meal or snack for a day at the end of the week. Pick it out at the beginning of the week and if you do well all week then reward your self with it. Mine this week is a cupcake on Friday.
