    just need to buy a mandolin.
    Oh! I forgot to add that I didn't have one of those brand of cutters - just a cheapo slicer that I got at a garage sale. It sliced the potato really thin, and did the trick. I'm sure the mandolin brand would do better, though I don't know what the V cut is for, but my little cutter did fine.

    i wonder if a veggie peeler would work - or would they be too thin?

    A veggie peeler might make them a little too thin... but you could try it? I used the 1/8" thickness on my mandolin. I didn't know mandolin was a brand either, mine definitely doesn't have a v thing, just some uber sharp blades and a little knobby thing to adjust the thickness of the slice.
