Bashing on the Forums

Hello, everyone! This is going to be a heavy topic - so either settle in or hit the "back" button.
I used to visit the forums a lot and participate with the discussions from time to time. What I've been seeing more and more of has me shocked, dismayed, and plain old angry. Negativity, rudeness, and bashing.
The most recent one that I finally had to speak up about was on the FUN & GAMES forum...the person who was bashing had NO experience with what the OP was talking about, but felt the need to post her high-and-mighty opinion of the topic. If you don't have anything to contribute other than negativity - don't post! It's that freaking simple!
On other boards, people have their own opinion of what works and what doesn't, and they present those opinions as facts. There are as many conflicting facts out there as there are personality types! I have heard one "expert" claim that carbs are bad while yet another says that due to my blood type carbs are good! Of course, I'm talking about natural carbs, not over-processed empty carbs.
People post on the forums for advice, opinions, support, motivation, general venting, or for fun. Isn't there a phrase that most of us heard when we were little, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". What makes you feel good about bringing someone else down? Is that how you try to elevate your own "status"? Shame on you...
How would you feel - or more accurately how did it make you feel - when you post something on the forum boards and get those nasty responses slamming you? Crappy, huh?
Just knock it off and try to be a better human being.

In terms of nutritional science, I don't buy the "you can use science to prove anything" excuse. There is objective truth to be found.0

people on MFP are jerks.
they're cranky because they're hungry from calorie restriction, sore from working out, tired from the combination of the two. they haven't had a bite of real cheesecake/pizza/snickers bar in too long. they haven't gotten laid. they've had to smell raunchy bo, protein shake farts, and overpowering perfume at the gym all day and they have a headache. they've quit smoking, cut back on the caffiene, and eliminated soda from their diets. and on top of that, they probably have secret low self esteem, which brought them to this torturous lifestyle in the first place.
so they take out all their misery on others on the forums. it makes them feel better about themselves.
once you understand this, the forums are quite fun.

Simple reminder that not everyone in life is nice. The internet is no different. You can block anyone you want for any reason. But to try to lecture the internet is an exercise in futility.0

You know what they say, if you don't have something nice to say, come sit next to me.0 -

One of my favorite verses in a song...
"... the cretins cloning and feeding / and I don't even own a T.V."
Thing that says it all. Where there is an open forum, stupidity will find its way there. All you can do is let the ignorant remain ignorant and enjoy the show. Because there's no point in trying to match wits with the witless.0 -
I'm so glad that we all limit our opinion sharing to topics we strictly have experience with . . . phew.
By the way, you are all now intolerant to gluten . . . I have exposed you.0 -

just what are we talking about here? carbs? they're bad right?0

I think some times i see posts that turn into an unnecessary flame war.
But most of the time what many call "bashing, attacking, rude" is really not at all. You disagree, give an opinion and its OMG this is a support site!!! balhhh complain and such. Many are too sensitive :P0
