Okay, I have a success to share. I may have gained this week, but I'm definitely doing something right. I actually ran for 5 minutes straight. After my strength class at the gym our instructor challenged us to 5 minutes on the treadmill. I did it and I made it the entire 5 minutes. I have never liked running and I hated it while I was doing it, but now I feel such a sense of accomplishment. I might even try to do it again soon!
Same thing with me . . . HATED running. Then I started the Couch to 5K program and . . . well, I'm starting to hate it a little less. Slow but steady progress.
Love your avatar pic, by the way!0 -

Great job that is a big accomplishment. Couch to 5K is an awesome program, you should try it, now that you did your first 5 minutes. I hate running too, but it is great cardio.0 -
Thanks ladies! Fitgal - the avatar is from lolcats.com. It's a hysterical site for cat lovers.
I've been mulling over the C25K seeing as how many of the Blues sing its praises. I may just start it this weekend now that I know I can accomplish what I did today :happy:0 -
I got a mile jog in today. I actually got my husband to jog with me. I then walked 2 miles. These last 26 miles have been just horrible. :grumble: but it feels good to exercise outside.0

That's a big part of running - just knowing YOU DID IT when you are done is elation!!0 -
Where is everyone today?0
-
i was sleeping  But I'm up now. I have to take the kids to swimming lessons and then its time for me to walk when the husband gets home. Maybe I can get him to jog with me again tonight. Good luck to me.0

Hey blue team!!
Just a quick check in - I'm getting ready to prepare my chicken kabobs for dinner. My chicken has been marinading in the frige since 1 with soy sauce and a little honey drizzled over top! I'm gonna skewer them up with some zucchini, mush rooms, tomatoes & onion! I hope they're as yummy as they sound!!
Rach, are you okay?? I thought the chart would be posted by now, is everything okay with you & yours?
Keep up the great work everyone!0 -
HI Blue team,
Hope everyone is doing well and I hope Rach is having fun somewhere.
I changed my profile pic to update since I started loosing. I call this outfit my skinny outfit because it does a great job of hiding all my rolls and i look a whole lot better than I did.
I have been struggling the last few weeks with my diet and not eating right, ever since i left for vacation. Wednesday i think i flicked the switch though and I have done great the last 2 days. My fear is the upcoming weekend but i am going to try my hardest to keep it under control.
Hope everyone is doing well! Here is to a new week of challenges that we can conquer.0 -
I think Rach is probably enjoying the time with her brother - I'd love to see our results but her time with her family is more important than our chart!!
So Rach - have fun!! but we miss...0 -
Thank you guys SO much for understanding and helping explain. I feel like this is the only place I can talk about things like that. And, I've blogged and journaled before, but I don't think I've ever truly taken a look at my emotions when I eat like that... and, you know what I think it was? This is silly, but... my friend and I were supposed to have a yard sale next weekend at his grandma's house (she has a great location). Well, his aunt decided she wanted to do it this weekend instead because she's going to the beach next weekend. Since I had the bulk of stuff to be sold, I was asked to put an ad in the paper, bring my stuff over, help set up Thursday night, help mow the yard and come out Friday morning to put everything on the tables. I was stressin' and trying to figure out how to get everything done. Thankfully... I managed... AND, I wore my HRM the entire time I mowed and set things up and I burned an outrageous 1727 calories. BUT, I wasn't hungry... I did eat dinner, but I am hoping that extra burn made up for my binge the night before. :drinker: I've been up since 4:30 a.m., LOL, but before I left the yard sale to come to work at 8:30, I'd already made around $30! Heck yeah!
If I can fight through the sleepiness, I'm going to finish mowing his grandma's yard this evening and mow half of mine.0 -
leigh - wow that's a lot of calories! It's really cool to see it isn't it.
I need to have a yard sale just don't have the patience for it but funny I live in the absolute perfect spot for one.....0 -

Hey girl-way to move your *kitten*! That's awesome. Who needs a guy around to mow the yard...he's been stealing those burnt calories from you for a while! So explain THIS to me.... I exercise-HARD, my strength training has been huge lately, I Wall Sat yesterday for 4:00 min with a 6 lb med ball between my knees- I've NEVER been able to do that before!. I did 60 crunches in 1 min, and 22 pushups in 1 min. (had to take a couple breaks). I know I have my sugar problem, but it's gonna stop-as of yesterday...I'm gonna beat it this time cause I sabbotage myself all the time! I'm gonna be accountable and post my diet like some people do. (If any of you have a chance, please feel free to remark or scold me anytime). I do need to add in somemore cardio, but have been focusing lately on the weights to change things up a bit. I'm honest what I document-not truly measuring, but tend to add more than less on my chart. I've gone the route where I eat all my exercise calories...nothing happens. I've tried less....still, nothing. Guys, I am still at 145lbs! I KNOW I look better and feel better. My measurements? Well, not sure if I measured in the right/ same spot as before. So, I've retaken them according to SHAPE.COM. I will post pics very soon. My scale says my body fat % is still 29.2%! I wear a size 6 pant! Is it all the visceral fat?-well that worries me. SHAPE said my body fat % according to my measurements is 25.7%. I'll take that! But what to believe. This is supposed to be close to my "thin" part of the month (7 days after TOM starts), well it is almost that, and when I weighed myself yesterday I just wanted to cry. 145lbs to you guys I'm sure sounds great and all, but according to my "ideal weight", it is 135. I used to be that. I want to be that. At least under 140.
I had my meeting yesterday. I start back to work next week!:ohwell: Mixed feelings. Will I have the time now to exercise (and the energy), will my diet stay on track...I will sure try, but my unit can be very stressful-will that affect things? My back to work hours are aweful right now and I have to get them changed.-MORE STRESS already! I'm worried how I'll have the time to write down what I eat. I was hoping to have mastered all of this before I went back, but haven't. AND I have more surgery in a week and can't do much for 2 weeks.
So...this is the craze in my little world right now. My family is tired of hearing me complain. They are supportive, although my Chef son thinks I'm nuts. He's putting on weight as is his girlfriend, and that bothers me.....You guys are the only real people who will get my issues. :flowerforyou: Thanks for listening....Please send me some words of thought.:smooched: Kath0 -
kath - as far as the writing it all down - if you are short on time at the moment you eat it, snap a picture with your phone it will remind you later of what you ate and you can log it then.
Its so hard to break addictions to sugar, or whatever your vices are - it's like something inside you just snaps - I can't explain how it works but you are here and I think trying and emotionally preparing yourself is 90% of the battle.
I cannot wait to be at 145! What's your final goal - 135? how tall are you? just curious. With the increased weights, you're also adding some fluid to your body so you are probably burning some fat and toning up you just don't see the # move.0 -

I'm 5 5.5". I don't know what the heck. Put my diary up now. You're a pro with this, I'm looking to you and Sani as my Motivating/Supporting/Discipling/Inspiring Coaches0 -

What a fabulous idea Chrissy!
Kath-Give yourself a break-emotionally I mean! When it comes to going back to work, you're going to have to learn a while new routine/schedule so give yourself permission to take some time to adjust. I tend to journal my food at the beginning of the day as I tend to have a rough skelton of what I'm going to be eating, but I rarely know when I'll have time to log in. Then I fill in the snacks I reach for as time allows, but I love Chrissy's idea about the phone.
I also don't know when you were last at your "ideal weight" of 135, but were you were exercising as much as you are now. If you weren't as physically active, the number on the scale may be more muscle mass.
Also, does that number represent more than just your weight to you? The reason I ask is because my "ideal weight" is 145. I associate the fact that I remember being young (in my 20s), vibrant, and a much happier person with that weight. Any chance you might be doing something similar?
I personally think you're doing great and I find you to be a huge inspiration. I do hope your transition back to work is as smooth as possible and that your fears aren't realized with regard to keeping on track.0 -

[/quote] Thanks for the words of encouragement. I just did anothe BF%-31% at this site. I quit with measuring. weighing, calculating, etc. I know I have to accept who I am, it's just frustrating, you know?

That really is the key isn't it!! Accepting ourselves is the most important thing, no matter what size we are! We have to love ourselves first & then we can better love others & have others share that love in return.
I just want to say that you are AWESOME!! The workouts you do are hard core!! You are strong! You are powerful!! I know that many of us would love to have your strength & stamina!! Take pride in all you do! You totally rock!!
Don't let the number on the scale decide your happiness or your success!0 -

Oh so not a pro but I appreciate it!
We're in this together - we all have our "things" that we're good at and bad at!!! I am 5'5" - my original goal is set at 149 - I didn't want to look like a sicko srawny thing - but I think I am looking at 139 at this point - I figure I'll leave the goal on my ticker as it is and when I hit it I'll keep working at it. Feeling like it's actually close at this point.0 -

Thanks Sani-don't know how you did it... Anyway, you brought tears to my eyes.0 -
This is why I love this group!!!!!0

Kath- Hang in there and take a deep breathe. It will take some time to get a new routine figured out, but just take it one day and one meal at a time. You have done an amazing job and you are so strong and such an inspiration to those of us in this group who are aspiring to be at your level some day.
As for the numbers think of it this way, how reliable are they truly since you have received all different numbers from different sites, that should tell you not too worry about those numbers too much. I know easier said than done, i still step on the darn scale every day, but i don't let it bother me if it is within a 5lb range.
Keep your head up and keep trucking along, it will all come together, just take it one day at a time.0 -

((((HUGS)))) to ya babe!! HUGS!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Kath,
You've done a great job. You can do this.
Try and tweak some things perhaps to get it fine tuned.
Since you made your diary public, I thought I would go take a look.
I'm no expert, but I noticed a few things I would like to comment on that might help.
First, you know about your sugar.
Perhaps replace those cravings with something good.
Don't say, no sweets and try to drop it cold turkey, replace it with something else good.
I mentioned in another thread, that my Protein shake, with a frozen banana, or PB, is my sweet treat. I think of it as that chocolate shake.
The days your sugar wasn't way over, your sodium was way over. That could be a problem.
Last thing I noticed, is from what I read, we should try to balance out the calories we are eating all day. When you work out and add 600 + calories. We can't add this to one meal.
So you know you have to eat 2000 calories a day, then spread it out. try for ~300-350 every meal.
Somtimes you were having 150 calories and then a meal you were having 800-900 calories.
Also if you know it's going to be a big calorie meal. Split it up, give yourself a doggie bag, and eat it 2-3 hours later.
Hope some of this helps.:flowerforyou: :drinker:0 -
Thank you guys SO much for understanding and helping explain. I feel like this is the only place I can talk about things like that. And, I've blogged and journaled before, but I don't think I've ever truly taken a look at my emotions when I eat like that... and, you know what I think it was? If I can fight through the sleepiness, I'm going to finish mowing his grandma's yard this evening and mow half of mine.
This really makes me wish that I would have worn my HRM today. I got some help cleaning my house because I can't do it all myself. Well not until I catch up then I will just be able to keep up. I will make a chore chart for myself. I know I worked my butt off because boy was I tired afterwards. I had a small dish of icecream tonight I felt bad but then I saw this and didn't feel so bad. I stepped on the scale today since TOM is almost done now and I think I lost 2lbs I think Im off my plateau I'm so excited everyone. That would mean 2 more pounds and I will hit 50 lbs lost. I still have about 24 to go and I'm hoping to get there by thanksgiving.0 -
Ok I have a question now. I put a post out there but not many people answered me and I trust you guys a lot more. I'm finding it harder to loose weight as I'm getting closer to my goal. I have heard of this happening to others but never really paid attention. What can I do to keep loosing the weight. I have never eaten my exercise calories (doctor ok'd by the way) So is this the time that I should start eating like half of my exercise calories or should I just see how it goes after finally getting back on track now. I have no idea and I really don't want to see my doctor just for this. So confused. I know some of us have gotten to our goals. O thank you so much you guys for being there for me. I don't know what I would do without you guys. :drinker:0
-
I would say it is time to change it up a bit. Eat a portion of your exercise calories and maybe change up your exercise, try something different. Usually when you plateau your body has gotten used to what you are doing so trying something a little different and proving you are serious makes a huge difference. Good luck!0

I agree that you need to change it up. Every body is different I would try eating some of the calories back for a couple of weeks, but that does not work for everyone. Also take a look at your diet. I know you have some medical issues, but that is possibly where you can tweak too. As my Dr. likes to say, diet is really the key to loosing weight and while excercise is necessary the biggest thing you can do is eat healthy. I heard somewhere else that the formula for loosing weight is 97% diet + 3% excercise=weight loss. You can do it though, you just need to adjust in the home stretch.0 -
jg - I would say for the next few weeks or however long it takes to reach your goal, you really need to be aware of what you're eating. If you feel yourself wanting to slip up, remind yourself how close you are and think about how good you'll feel when you get there. If you find yourself still at a plateau, then yes, you should eat your exercise calories. If not all, then at least half. Oh, and congrats on making it this far! I know you can do it!:flowerforyou:0
