What role does faith play?

Faith plays the #1 role in everything. Or nothing matters.0

None, I'm an atheist.0

I am faith in myself and without that I wouldn't have any weight loss success.0

My faith has to play a major role in all that I do. By no means is it anywhere near where it should be. I know that I can not win this weight loss battle by myself. And I find myself praying to God for energy to get through my Turbo Fire workouts. To some it may seem silly but it's reality for me.0

None for me. Still successful.0

Never thought about it in those terms. My faith is an integral part of my life. Nothing really exists apart from it.0

Eating right and working hard are elements of temperance [self-control]. These things tie directly to the faith (II Peter 1:3-11). We're supposed to take good care of our bodies (I Corinthians 6:20). At the same time, you cannot fitness to become an idol of sorts. There is a balance. Bodily exercise profits little (I timothy 4:8). Therefore, the Scriptures enable you to have the wisdom to balance body and spirit.

If you don't have FAITH it's impossible to do anything in my book. It's my code Hebrews 11:1.0

Having faith in myself was what ultimately made me successful. It doesn't really matter WHERE you draw your faith from, but it is essential to have it...0

None. I'm an atheist.0

I have faith in myself, that I have the power to make my life better.
I'm an atheist though.0 -
None, but I'm an atheist so I guess that doesn't count! But I don't think prayers, hope, or any other being can keep me from putting food in my mouth but me.0

At the risk of sounding cliched and broken-record-y, I'm agnostic and only have faith in myself.0

I guess you'd have to define 'faith'
Some ppl use the term to describe religion or religious beliefs.
Some people use the term as something similar to belief- as in 'I have belief/faith I can do it.'
My personal belief is that I get to do what I want with this one precious life- it's all on me... my choices, my consequences.
I believe I can shape my life in a better way than I have done, and so here I am!
So mote it be!0 -

None....did it through my own determination coupled with support from my friends and family both in RL and on MFP.0

I have no faith in anything except in my own abilities to learn about the world and how it works......and to challenge myself to continuous improvement.
I don't just "believe" in stuff......especially if there is an authority figure telling me I have to believe what they say is the "truth".
I arrive at certain conclusions in life based on the best evidence I have at hand. I am very willing to change my mind about those conclusions if newer and better evidence is presented to me......preferably if it has gone through a double-blind testing process.

You should read Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst. Awesome book! We just finished a bible study group on this.0

I have faith that eating right and working out will help me lose weight...like faith in god, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but that doesn't change the fact that I still maintain the belief. I also don't believe in organized weight loss like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, or Slim Fast just as I don't believe in organized religion.0
