Hello all! I am going to be running my first 5K on June 9th. I am in the process of trying to figure out a time goal for myself. What was your best 5K time?

My best in the 5K is 24:39. My others have been 30:21, 31:20 and 34:21.

    Good luck at your race!

Do you have a goal? It's good to try for something.

27:26 and damn proud of it! :) Based on your posts, you do longer runs at about a 10 minute mile, which is about what I do. I'd aim for a 27/26 minute time because you go quite a bit faster when there's other people around. just dont start off too fast and then get dead tired for the rest of the race! try and hold back a little, although you'll be excited/nervous/giddy with everyone else at the starting line :p

I just ran a 5K yesterday in 41 minutes. It doesn't sound very fast I know but I showed up and did it! AND it was faster than the time before and I'm 5 months pregnant :)

My most recent (and probably best) 5k time was 29:07 :) I'm not fast, but I'm steady...I try to aim right under a 10-min-mile. It seems to work for someone like me who isn't a born runner. Good luck on your race!!! How exciting!

I'm an extremely SLOW runner: 47 minutes.
Seems like so freaking slow, but that is better than my last at 55.

Just ran my 1st one yesterday! Got 32.02. I was pretty proud of that time, but I'd like to do better next time! My goal for the next one is under 30 mins.

They are all good because I was supposed to be dead. But my fastest is 28:22 .

May I suggest just running for fun, and not worrying about the time. As you log miles, you'll get better and faster.

I ran my first one a year and a half ago in 27:06 in 20 degree weather.

I trained about NONE for that though and now actually often do that on my daily runs now. I'm hoping to go around 24 for my next one

39:29 I just started running about 4 weeks ago, and I am still almost 100 lbs overweight. I have a 5k to run in a couple of weeks, I would really love to have my time down to 35 mins, but I'll be happy if I finish under 40 mins.

I would aim for under 30 minutes if you have been training. My first 5k(2010) was 24.53. My PR (3/2012) was 17:43 ( very lucky here, but I will take it)

I ran a 5k when my daughter was 10 weeks old. It gave me a goal to work towards. My time was 29:48; best overall, years earlier was 26:40. Good luck!

my first was last month and did it in 35.58 (hills too) i had less than a week to train and i was never a runner. i had a goal of 45 mins....my 2nd 5k will be in 4weeks and i'm week 4 of an 8 week training routine so i hope to at least be 30min by then hopefully less.
