We don't have turkey bacon in my country but I kind of have this thing against eating a type of meat that's been mashed up and pressed in to a shape so probably regular for me. It's the same with those cordon bleu type processed "meat", tastes bad and has a weird texture. Turkey bacon is healthier though right?
Not a huge bacon fan either way. :P0 -
Some things are simply not worth giving up - one of these is the gloriousness that is REAL bacon. My only concession is to buy the lower sodium versions.
Turkey bacon is just always such a disappointment.0 -
I respect people's different tastes, as we all have our own uniqueness in the food world.
But if ANYONE brought me turkey or chicken 'bacon' to eat and try to pass it off as real, I will fight you. Man or woman. Young or old. I will throw down.
"I would never hit a woman, unless she gave me turkey/chicken bacon!"0 -
I Dont always eat bacon, but when i do I only eat Pork Bacon.0

Real. All the way. If you put turkey bacon in front of me I would eat it, don't get me wrong, but I push people out of my way for real bacon.0

Not understanding why Turkey bacon isn't real?? I eat it.. if it's the only thing i eat, I will still poop.. so based on those scientific facts, it has to be real!!
I used to like the other stuff but now it's much too salty for my tastes except on pizza..
Not that I eat pizza because I'm on MFP to be healthy and the health police would come and arrest me and I am a law abiding non pizza private diary having citizen of MFP-opolis...
ok.. I'm going away now.. *whispers* yay bacon.. *cough* and pizza
yesterday I described my criteria for determining if something is real as whether or not I can hug it0 -

Bacon I normally will do real (pork) but if I do sausage links/patties I'll do turkey or even soy. Lower calories, sodium, and fat!0

Turkey bacon is NOT bacon. End of discussion. :-)0

Turkey bacon is not necessarily a healthier choice, and it tastes like poop. I enjoy a few strips of real bacon every once in a while and leave it at that.0 -
I love real bacon, but seeing as I won't cook it becuase it pops and blisters.. I never eat either at home. I occasionally have it at my MIL's house.
Bacon and sausage are staples at her house.0 -
The real thing all the way!! Bacon is meat candy!!0

By the way, calling turkey meat, bacon, is like calling iron cast pan, weightless. Stupid!
^^ This :drinker:0 -
Really? Scare tactics? Turkey bacon doesn't come in any other variety because it is processed from various turkey meats. Bacon starts out, as bacon, thats what it is, bacon. You then cure it or you do not. It doesn't make it any less bacon if its uncured.
But here you go. Hormel thick cut bacon:
Cured With Water, Salt, Sugar, Dextrose, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrite.
Odd, they don't have to specify different types of meats or machines used to seperate them!Turkey Bacon Ingredients: Mechanically Separated Turkey, White Turkey, Dark Turkey, Water, Salt, Contains 2% Or Less Of Potassium Lactate, Natural Smoke Flavoring, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrate.
Pork Bacon Ingredients: Pork, Water, Salt, Turbinado Sugar, Seasoning (Cultured Celery Juice Powder, Sea Salt).
