    Any Zappa show I've seen

Tom Waites and Leon Redbone, Woonsocket, RI 1976

UCLA Chorale, soloists, and orchestra, spring concert, 2012 (last weekend) Phenomenal! Mozart's Requiem in its entirety

My general philosophy is that big acts in smaller venues is about as good as it gets.

Underworld at the 930 Club (1200 capacity venue in DC) was incredible. It was Monday night and it felt like Saturday. They are playing the Olympic Opening Ceremony in London so it will actually be worth watching.

Pretty much any big act that goes there, I want to see.
I saw Fatboy Slim and The Smashing Pumpkins there more recently. I also saw George Clinton and BT there years ago.

I did not get to see the whole show but I did go backstage during Metallica at one of the Summer Sanitarium tours.

In terms of consistently great live performances, its hard to beat Pearl Jam even at a big venue. If you can see them at an outdoor pavilion, do it!

Its hard to pick the best, but for me the most stand out gig I've been to would have to be...

Prodigy - Exeter University 1997 - It was a real life changer!

A local radio station used to do this summer concert every year that would have half 80s bands, half modern bands so over various years of going to this show, I've seen Billy Idol, Morrisey, Devo, The Killers, Blondie, Death Cab for Cutie, Blink 182, The Offspring, Social D, Interpol, lil bow wow (yes, really), Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Flock of Seagulls....SO many more. Sadly they don't put this show on anymore -- it was always a lot of fun.

I've been to TONS of concerts (I have friends in some really popular bands so it was my life for a while) but that particular concert series always stands out because of the variation of bands in one location. I'm pretty sad they don't do it anymore

2008 or 2009 I can't remember, I can't even remember the venue other than it was tiny and in Los Angeles. We saw The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and some really drunk guy bumped into me then started dancing and singing with me to the chorus of "Where'd You Go". After the song we high fived and I never saw him again. What a fun time!!!

I gotta throw in Counting Crows at Usana Amp on the Hard Candy tour..............that ruled too.
  • Paul McCartney in 2011 at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. I am a crazy huge Beatles fan so it was a lifelong dream fulfilled.

    OZOMATLI!!!!!!!!

Small venue in Tucson, AZ...capacity of about 500 people. Have seen Ozomatli perform countless times. At the end of their performance, they get all their instruments and get off the stage and come down on the floor and crowd forms a circle. They'll jam out and then form a conga line and just go through the whole crowd. Love their energy, love their passion, and love what they stand for. If you're out in the west, you need to see them!

And if you've never heard about them, they've won several Grammy's.

Chris Cornell's Euphoria Morning tour, 1999. it was general admission, and i got there five hours early. i was fifth in line; ended up front row just left of center stage. i could literally read the set list from where i was standing. Cornell and the band were in top form, and a good time was had by all.

    Motley Crue in '85
    AC/DC in '89
KISS Farewell Tour (the first one) in '00
Trent Reznor in mid 2000 (can't remember exact year)
and the last concert I saw was Zac Brown in Nashville, this past December. I wasn't really pumped about seeing them, as I'm not really a country music fan, but they were freakin' awesome. And I really don't consider them 'country' after the concert.

OH! I gotta throw in my very first concert ever...RICK SPRINGFIELD in '83!

Def Leppard and Tesla toured together in the late 80's, that was very awesome..

    DON'T JUDGE.

..and Rush, and Journey, and Heart, and Van Halen, and Widespread Panic, and ....

My head would explode if I saw all those performances! So jealous!
  • July 12th, 2003 - Summer Sanitarium Tour at Veterans Stadium (RIP) in Philadelphia

    >Metallica
    >Limp Bizkit
    >Linkin Park
    >Deftones
    >Mudvayne

    So green with envy!!!

It was a fantastic show! Metallica put on an amazing show but between Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit, i don't know who put on the absolute best show of all bands. A great night for sure.

    Old guy alert!

I've been to hundreds of concerts but this gets the nod...

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band at the CNE Grandstand in Toronto August 1978.

Pearl Jam was the last show I saw in Toronto before moving to the UK and they were excellent. They're headlining the Isle of Wight Festival (Saturday night) and I'm hoping I can find the cash for a ticket.

    Old Lady Alert!

The Doobie Brothers, in 1977, without Michael McDonald......................when they did "Black Water", and mentioned our town (Duluth MN), the crowd went wild..............I was pregnant with my first child, and DID resist the doobie that floated by me a few times

Also enjoyed Seals & Croft at about the same time.................they were into their Bahá'í faith stage, though, and were a little too preachy, but GOOD music!
