When most of you have cancer, Alzheimers, and heart disease when you are 58 years old, don't say we didn't tell you so.

Yeah, you may weigh a good weight, but that doesn't mean you are healthy on the cellular level.

Thank you! I'd like to add... You are not suddenly allergic to gluten.

You actually can become suddenly allergic to gluten. Celiac's can be "activated" by an environmental stress or trigger.

It's pretty clear everyone here wants to justify their conveniences instead of accepting facts. I didn't realize I was allergic to avocado until this year. Been allergic my whole life but never knew it. It got so bad, suddenly, doctor said I need to carry an epi pen. Our bodies do change throughout our lives and allergies can better and worsen.

Wow. I have to argue. This could not be more wrong.

You can eat food IN bed.

I'm still getting flack from my girl for a piece of fried chicken in a HOTEL BED 3 years ago. You wanna go clear that up with her for me SideSteal??

(perfect list that is 100% spot on by the way)

Consume whipped cream in bed. Off each other. All will be forgotten. Especially if you use this: http://givemecream.com/whipped/

Just because you saw it in a documentary doesn't mean it's a good idea or even remotely research-based.

And... just because someone posts it on MFP and a bunch of people agree doesn't make it true, either. Just sayin'. :)

So clearly, in your case you should avoid avocados. This certainly doesn't mean everyone should.

What are you specifically taking issue with?

They're taking issue with something because all the myths that have been propogated by the food and supplement industries simply cannot all be false!

    Excellent post Sidesteal.

    Regarding Cardio

I'm going to try and post this here rather than quote the few people talking about it.

I think cardio is healthy and has benefits. I think cardio also helps you to create a calorie deficit.

I think that weight lifting will provide you with a better body composition and I think that while eating at a deficit, it would be in most people's best interest to lift weights at some capacity to increase the percentage of fat lost (vs lean mass). When I say "lift weights" I mean some form of resistance training.

But I am NOT suggesting to avoid cardio and I am also not claiming that cardio is useless. I AM claiming that it isn't a necessity for weight loss given a calorie deficit and especially with an intense weight training program.

I would never tell someone to "stop wasting their time doing cardio" because that's nonsense.

I personally do not enjoy cardio at all, so I don't do it. If I were substantially overweight, I would absolutely be doing cardio in addition to my weight training program.

Part of the reason I mentioned "use some common sense with food selection" is because of the false-dilemma that has already happened a couple of times in this thread (once accidentally where the user acknowledged it and then proved to not be an asshat, thankfully!).

This article by Lyle McDonald (if for some reason you don't know this author by now, you should) is a great one that explains this in detail, and it may register quite well for some of you:

What about exercise calories?? What do I do????

Depends on the method you're using to determine your caloric intake target.

IF you use MFP...eat them back.

IF you use another method...you may not need to.

^ This is a more concise way to say exactly what I just posted on her wall. LOL.

Its ok man, I've come to the conclusion we are twins separated at birth. Except...you got all tall, light skinned...and buff, and I ended up all short, dark skinned, and...uhh, semi buff.
Or we could be triplets.....................but that would make me the good looking one.

I like it, but what about the corn..... corn in a field...? :)

The corn title was for my friends list. It started when someone made a post about how corn is toxic and leads to disease and makes lemmywinks go sprinting out of your colon or something ridiculous like that.

Being the troll that I am, I decided to run with it and post about all the vicious things that corn has done to me.

I would never stress about corn... Love the corn... Corn and mashed WHITE potatoes. *gasp*

I'll admit, that lemmywink thing *did* give me pause, though.

Does this apply to hormones too? can hormones play a part in weight loss i always thought it was cals in vs out
Since everything that happens in the body is a chemical reaction, hormones do play a part in weight loss, but not how a calorie is actually counted. That's why there's a difference between how men and women lose bodyweight and how person to person weight loss could vary.
