I've seen Bear Grylls catch a fish with his hands and eat it while it was still alive.

Yea, from what I remember, its brain came out its eye socket.
    Bear is so sexy.

 Watching him on that show makes me wonder how anyone could ever KISS him?

Ok... so this has nothing to do with the billboard, but you are attacking some of the nicest people on here! Jeannie and Lauryn are two of the nicest people in the world, with only kind things to say to people. Almost any comment anyone else on here has made, including Chrissy and Kityngirl has been slammed by you. I'm sure I will be slammed too, but I just felt I had to stand up for my friends (not that they haven't been standing up for themselves). I hear you saying you're being attacked, and that may be so, but I think you've been asking for it with the way you're responding to people.

    Awww Robin (((hugs)))
    You're a doll! :flowerforyou:
(and you are right too  )

I was all fired up... You, I've seen around, lots and lots of posts... Her, I've never seen. And she asks where you came from? lol
  • All I know is that if a billboard has the ability to make you feel better or worse about yourself, you've got MUCH bigger issues on your plate than being overweight.

It certainly doesn't. But if you are trying to turn my head yelling FAT *kitten* will work-but will it change my way of thinking??

Isn't the idea to help us understand and make better choices?

IDK....maybe I am missing something here.

PETA is about getting the information out there in whatever fashion they deem appropriate. Feelings are of no concern to PETA - atleast not those of other humans.

Most PETA supporters are whackjobs who believe riding a horse is evil...

Yet they have no problem euthanizing cats and dogs instead of spending money to feed them and find them loving homes?

Link me up with this info please.

If I had to get lost in the wilderness, I'd pick him.
    And he IS yummy.
But seeing a man drink his own urine and eat bear poop kinda makes me think twice about kissing him. Maybe we could just spoon??
  • I wonder how many PETA supporters out there own pets not rescued from a shelter or something along those lines. Breeding animals just to take a baby from it's mom so you can have a cute cuddly critter seems just as bad. Did anyone ask the mom if it was cool?

I don't think you should be judging just PETA supporters on this one. It's not that you're taking a puppy away from its mother, its that by not rescuing an animal from a shelter and buying a puppy you will support a cycle of breeding more animals while more pets die in shelters. It's an obvious thing that everyone who cares about animals should do. ADOPT A PET.

Honestly I'm just playing devil's advocate. I don't judge one way or another. I'd smash someone in the face with a 2x4 if witnessed them abusing an animal but I'm not going to support a organization that is derogatory toward anyone just to make a point either.

    eating meat is animal abuse

So you're saying we should protect prey animals from their predators?

I'm saying that deliberately breeding animals to be eaten is animal abuse.

Ah.. got it. So as long as I hunt my own food in the wild it's cool?

I'd like to see a human hunt an animal with their bare hands and teeth

Easily as long as fish are exempt from 'abused if eaten' status. Still though... you keep adding stipulations.

    I saw that episode!

Historically speaking tho, if we did only hunt with only our hands and teeth, we would not have survived long enough to become the 'dominant' species (whether that is a good thing or not is another debate) the only reason we have the choice of what to eat now is because we had the brains to outwit our prey early on....

I wish you could hear me and see me crying over here because I've been such a bad,bad girl and I feel so terrible for calling people names and telling them to go to the hot & fiery land down under (not Australia! LOL). OH WAIT. I didn't.

I said I DID NOT feel attacked. Opinions are opinions and everyone is entitled to one, but if I think yours is stupid, I'll probably tell you that I think so.

"abused if eaten" status to me, is in effect only for critters who are raised by and for the meat industry. The way they are treated is just horrific.
I'm just not in the habit of having a rotting carcass in my gullet.

It doesn't rot if salted or refridgerated.
    Not right away at least.

    You said "rotting".
I didn't comment about "carcass" or the status of the animal, be it alive or dead, or any measure of cooking.

Well, I'll tell ya this. God created man and put him over all other creation. So that makes us above animals. He also gave us permission to eat meat so by golly I'm gonna eat me some meat! Hi Amylynne 26.

And furthermore, if it came to rescuing a human or my cats first from a burning building, I'm going for the human first. Sorry cats but you'd better either find your way to safety or be where I can easily find you.

But I know I feel better as a person knowing that today, I made a compassionate choice and consumed nothing that had to give its life to nourish me.

LOL please do your research on the bible before getting into this topic. God gave us dominion over the animals yes, but he did not give us permission to eat meat. He allowed Noah to eat meat during the flood when nothing else was available, but later condemned the consumption of meat. If I had my trusty ol' Bible handy, I'd learn ya real good, but alas, it is at home.

    This is getting incredibly lame.

You can do a more comprehensive search after that for your own sake.

(disclaimer here, I am a HUGE supporter of the SPCA so this is not about not caring about animal rights...I just disagree with PETA's hypocrisy and practices) :flowerforyou:

Beyond entertainment why are you guys fighting about personal opinions on which you will never agree? This isnt a debate no meeting of the minds or trying to sway the other to your point. Its just attack and defend.

Again, this all comes down to the golden rule "Treat others how you would want to be treated." Place the values where you may.

PETA will wring your neck for that evil as well as riding horses, buckaroo.

Well, as I previously mentioned, PETA needs to wring its own members (who work for corporate) necks...............

PETA is the biggest hypocrital organization on the face of the earth.............

PETA is the worst organization on the face of the earth in my opinion. Mind you, their corporate HQ is in Norfolk, VA and a couple of years ago there were PETA members that were arrested, tried and convicted of euthanizing puppies and kittens and then went across the state line to North Carolina and dumped the bodies in a dumpster.
