That crap is found everywhere. We don't HAVE to eat it. I get so pissed off every time I hear of some obese person suing McDonald's for "making" them fat! It's called SELF-CONTROL. I certainly haven't always had it...that's why I am now here, trying to lose a lot of weight. But, no one else made me eat the crap I ate...that was all me.

I can honestly say that fried ice cream is probably the only non-typically fried food item that I have ever eaten. It *is* about self-control, for sure. But, this type of stuff wouldn't be offered if people didn't buy it.

I've never had fried whatever other than ice cream, fries, chicken. Not all at once, lol. wth is fried cola and pizza? Yuck. I can't believe people knowingly choose to eat these fried things. :/

Most people that will eat that stuff don't eat it just once a year at the fair.

How do you know? Have you done studies?

Look - I've never had a deep fried candy bar or any other fair novelty... I became obese because I drank too much, ate too large of portions, and sat on my *kitten* too much. It had nothing to do with what McDonald's was selling, either... the majority of my weight was gained eating wholesome, natural foods that I mostly grew myself. It was the excess of calories in my salad with grilled chicken, and my enormous turkey sandwiches, and the fabulous cheesecake I make from scratch, and all of those frittatas I made for breakfast, and the roast with red potatoes and carrots.... I could go on .... these foods, in excess of my caloric needs are the ones that made me fat. Not fried Fruit Loops.

I said most. You're one person. Clearly you wouldn't fall into the category of "most". My comment was that most people who would eat deep fried stuff at the fair (whatever it is) would most likely eat it all year round.

And you are wrong. I like to split a deep fried oreo with the hubby. And do not indulge in eating such things other than at the fair. I say get over it, it disgusts you...then don't eat it.

Oh geez....and I just had fried pickles last Thursday! :ohwell: To each his own:drinker: Does not mean I will have them every week or even every month...key words here are moderation and self control.

The obesity problem is not because of novelty food that's eaten once a year at a fair.
Thank you, Captain Obvious. I was talking about the deep frying - ANYTHING - part. Not the fact that a person can buy it at the fair once a year when it moves through town.
So let's get this straight. You say provocative things and throw out links to sensational articles, but when someone calls you on it you get to claim that wasn't what you meant at all and it's just silly to reference the links you were bolstering your claim with. I see.

Sometimes I go to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition)... avoid the gross food lines and BEE LINE for the tiny tom donuts. HOLY H3LL those donuts are GOOD! *wants deep fried oreo*

hahahaha what you worried about? In Scotland you can get deep fried mars and snickers bars

In parts of England you can get battered deep fried pizza.

Tell me. Is that as delicious as it sounds??? Also, would I likely need Pepto Bismol afterwards?

Congress removed the right to sue McDonalds for causing obesity almost a decade ago.

    Yes obviously unhealthy.

However, I especially love is how self righteous people become on these boards after they drop a few pounds. :ohwell:

And we wonder why America has an obesity problem? Do people really believe we can/should deep fry any/everything?

    http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/deep-fried-cereal-debuts-county-fair-200923198--abc-news-topstories.html

Cheese and frigging Rice ...chill the F*** out. If you eat it every single day of your life then yes it's silly and maybe even disgusting, but to go to a fair or even to a family outing and eat something like this every now and then is NOT going to KILL you or even MAKE you fat. If you feed it to you and your family everyday then yes it's going to make you fat, but come on and give people a break and let them enjoy life THEIR way once in a while without makeing it a freaking federal case. Just like the guy in NY wanting to outlaw pop but will okay leasure Pot (which causes you to have the munchies and eat way more than you would if you didn't smoke the stuff). He's worried about the calories in pop but not the amount of food consumed after smoking. Dude hasn't thought this thru.

    They are am-az-ing!!!!

I'm not going to lie, I have tried fried candy bars a couple times at amusement parks. I think its ridiculous to argue about all this.
People make themselves fat. People choose the food they eat. Its not like the only food that is available to them is deep fried candy bars.:noway:
A little indulgence is not going to hurt anyone if they eat it in moderation. Blaming food like the sweet buttery deep fried oreos is an huge injustice!!!

    Hear, hear. Gah.

Also, I went to that link, and as much as I love fair food (although I can't eat 99% of it anymore without getting sick, #$@% gluten) and always enjoy it in a train-wreck sort of way when the newest fair foods are announced, this one just looks like a really bad idea. Crunchy cereal + hot fat = potential for double trauma to the roof of one's mouth. Hurts just to think about it.

That said, I still wish I could try the fried Coke and fried Kool-Aid. They're pretty much just donut holes with interesting flavors, from what I've read. And oh, do I miss all the glorious things-on-a-stick at State Fair time. Ah, well.

deep fried cola?????? THAT'S disgusting. How do you even do that? And who decided to try?

*sorry for calling this disgusting...went back and read that many people were offended that others would call these things disgusting. True...I'm fat...I obviously ate disgusting things to get here. When I say disgusting, though, I don't mean "disgusting" as in "ew you're so disgustingly fat to want to fry cola"...I mean...that's disgusting.

Now that you mentioned it though...I wonder if they tried Diet Cola, you know, for a healthier choice.... :/

Hah. Well, I saw in this article that the guy who did the cereal also did the Kool-Aid one. Like I said though, they're basically flavored donuts - not like a ball of breading with boiling liquid inside of it or anything. But people use cola (and diet cola ) in cakes all the time, I guess that's probably how whoever came up with the fried version decided to try it.

I'd guess the same concept as the deep fried butter...which I might finally get the balls to try this year.

Ah...I guess I have heard of soda in cakes. I don't know, I'm sitting here picturing someone pouring soda into a deep fryer...lol...Probably wouldn't work out very well I guess. Good thing I wasn't tempted enough to try. ;)

I have a friend who tried that last year. She said it was more or less a cinnamon roll with a ton of butter inside. I can't remember if she finished it or shared it or what. She took a picture of it and... well, I really like butter, but I don't think I could muster that. YMMV tho.

I don't know, my husband convinced me to try fried ice cream one time....it tasted like stale waffle cone sprinkled over ice cream to me....

hahahah.... completely agree. Not sure why everyone is so concerned with the eating habits of everyone else / an entire country. Worry about your own eating habits / fitness habits / health. That's all that matters at the end of the day.
